Nearly had a few things stolen when we did ours there last year. I was sharing with a friend and was glad to have someone there to watch the stuff and vice versa when we had to keep going back to the car. My friend and I both got parking tickets as we forgot in the midst of selling things to put more money in the meter so what we made we had to deduct 100dirhams, you live and learn. At least its not too hot, but does still get very busy!

Yes we have one and my soon to be 7 year old sleeps on the top and my 4 year old on the bottom. No accidents in the 3 years they have been using it. We are however thinking of changing to two single ones now, only because we want to get beds with trundles for when their friends come for sleep overs. The kids do love making it into a cubby house and draping things all over it though!

definitely no mental issues with this guy. he is normal as they come. always on his way to or from football practice or something. my DH hates the fact that men started wearing hair-bands, but insists that this JLT walker buys one LOL we have had the odd smile from him on the auspicious occasion of him lifting his head. its SO funny that we all know and see the same person! so we're all probably driving past each other on our way to and from work!!! lets hooot and wave at each other ladies!! Sorry to say we have seen this guy so often in the three years we have lived here ( all the time in JBR) just last week on the way to school at 7:15am he was "power walking" across the road in front of Emirates Crown and the Sailing Club next to Mina Seyahi. He is aways walking along "The Walk" several hours a day dong his thing, but he may be eccentric but I think there must be more to it that that. Very fit, but still quite strange! Wonder where he lives, must be round here somewhere?

If children are restrained from the first time they travel in a car it becomes normal. In full agreeance with this! My kids have all been strapped in from day one and now the older two strap in the younger one for me as they know its mandatory and the car will not take off until they are all strapped in!

Especially watch when buying mobile phone credit like Etisalat credit from the supermarkets, sometimes they forget ( or I would like to think it was forgetting) to give you the slip that looks exactly like your shopping receipt and I have walked off a few times and only realised later that they have not given it to you. I have been lucky each time and they have given it but it could be hard to prove if they are unreasonable!

We started in FS1 last September at Wellington, I would recommend any child to attend an induction day before schools starts as this is important for when the kids make first friendships and experience in some cases their first taste of "School life". Wellington is a big school and for some little kids and bigger ones it could be very daunting. The induction is nice before school starts as they go along usually, half the class at a time so its nice and quiet and personal, they will get to know the teacher and some of the other kids and get shown where things are. Its nice to do this beforehand as I'm sure the first day will be very crazy an chaotic like all schools. Having said that, yes it would be sad to miss your friends wedding, but its up to you I suppose to decide where your priorities are. Good luck!

Being Australian and having had my mother, father and Uncle at some point all have some form of skin cancer I say do not hesitate. Hesitation in this instance could be sadly a death sentence. You cant take any risks with skin cancers. My mother was around 40 when the first cancers appeared on her face. She went to the same skin-specialist as Sir.Don Bradman and he was riddled with them. I will be 39 soon and check carefully every single spot that appears. I know the heartache that my mum went through every time she would go for a check up or a crusty, red mark would appear. My Uncle had one cut out of his shoulder and my father one from his leg. They can appear anywhere. My great-great, great grandparents were of course from Wales and other parts of the UK. I shudder every time I see people here on holiday or expats sunbaking or just on the beach not covered up. In the not to near future I'm sure there will be a skin cancer epidemic. I have never ever sunbaked but loved to snow ski when I was younger which can be just as bad. I recently asked a friend who had cancers sizzled off her face here for her Dr, and she recommends Dr Juliane at the Health Bay Clinic on Al Wasl Rd, her number is 043487140. Good luck I wish you all the best, I hope it is not cancerous, but if it is at least you can do something now before it becomes worse. Please everyone, cover up, that's my only piece of advice.

Try the Nokia service centre on Sheik Zayed Road, Dubai Mall side. I have had a friend who has had the same thing and they took it there and managed to get some photos back. Don't have details but google it! Not hard to find. Good luck!

Yes Levantine at Atlantis is the restaurant that has the belly dancer. Food is great, view nice from the top, nice place for visitors and the dancer was good. Ours lasted quite a while. Check which nights she is there though!

I asked on Friday when I was there if they were closing on Sat and the lady said yes and I then asked if she was being moved to another store along with the Filipino guy ( wearing glasses) whom I know has been there for the whole 3 years I've been here and she said at this point they don't have jobs and were waiting to find out if they were being moved to another one or not. By the sounds of it though it did not sound promising for them.

My lovely Filipino House maid has just come to me and said she needs to do something about her skin as it has started to get brown blotches on it ( change in skin pigmentation) and its spreading. She has been speaking to friends and apparently its quite common but she does not know what creme to use. Has anyone had the same situation with their Filipino housemaid and what remedy have they had? It must be do to the water and air here. Need some help please.

we had 6 hours to kill on the way back from Italy last August, with our 3 children we caught a local train straight from the airport into the city, hopped on a water canal tour and really enjoyed it! For 8 hours you would even get to wander around the streets. Then we hopped on the train and went back to the airport, very easy and not that expensive.

Imigran nasal spray is the best for me as I vomit with my migraines and can't keep anything down so the nasal spray really helps. Not that nice a taste at first down the back of the throat but does not take too long to kick in. Julieanneb just wondering what side effects you received from it?

I went to MOE Debs on Monday to buy some tummy tucking underwear did not have my size but saw they were charging 225 then went and checked at Ibn yesterday and exactly the same underwear but in my size was 125 so someone somewhere is making a huge profit due to overcharging. Ridiculous!

We would like to take ours to see her family there when we go home too but I believe its more of a hassle than anything and you may have to pay a huge bond if it gets to the stage that they grant you a visa. I have had a friend take a Sri Lanken Helper but even then not easy. A friend recently was refused. Good luck!

No not a cloud, there was a fire in Le Reve on the corner by Carrefor Express. Not sure how bad but thick black smoke. My husband saw it from his building and told so I texted a friend who lives there to see if they were ok and she told me it was Le Reve and most probably an electrical fire with all the thick black smoke. A few fire engines and lots of excitement but that's all I can tell you.

I have short hair, been there many times for the monthly haircut and have no problems. I would see either Joe or Charlie. I have been very happy with either and have tried many salons over my 3 years in Dubai. I have friends that go there now too. Don't know till you try it I suppose.

have sold stuff at 2 markets, sold basically anything and everything but each time caught people stealing stuff so just watch out for people who say "hold this for me, I will pay when I come back" come back and say they have paid etc... also slipping things in bags when you are not looking. Exhausting but worth doing though and lots of fun!

I have 3 at Wellington and we just moved there in September after 2 and a half years at another International school. This school leaves the last for dead! My daughters are very happy, learning and thriving. Im very active in the school and from what I feel its a fantastic school. I agree with Tillie's comments, I don't feel its too big. Also you may want to consider how long you will be here in the UAE as smaller schools like Wellington Primary may be great but if you are here for the long term you might need to think about schools that have Secondary as that is a huge issue. Kids come and go from the classes like they do at most schools in the UAE, its one of those things. No parent will ever be totally happy at whatever school their child attends, sometimes I think parents expectations are too high and they need to stop and look at the whole picture.

"Jessica Cleaning Services" 0503815792 or 0552653174 have used them a few times over many weeks and only stopped when my full/timer came. Sri Lankan ladies and I found them to be fine, If you ask they will try to get the same one all the time.
