I used the one for Beauty factory at Iris Blue Building last year, if it is still in it this year then Gulla is excellent at both colouring and cutting. She has won awards for cutting and colouring. She is also a really nice girl and very helpful and professional.

We went in early June, and thought it was a fantastic place. You are charged 100 each to get in and get 25 back to purchase drinks etc, not much but better than nothing. You have to pay extra for the kayaking, white water rafting, climbing wall and surfing but all well worth it. Not sure about charges for kids. The white water rafting was amazing and the instructor was fantastic, we all really enjoyed it. There is a lovely swimming area and a couple of cafe's selling food and stuff. It seems to be well run and has excellent changing facilities etc. It is well sign posted.

I am from Inverness and it is just a fantastic city. 26 is hot for Northern Scotland, and it does not happen very often although we have a bit of a micro climate in the Inverness area. When I go home in June it will be back to cold...but still beautiful. Usually when I go home the snow starts in earnest....better not happen in June or I will be banned from returning home!

we have 4 properties rented out in the uk and manage them all from here. We don't use an agent due to cost and trust issues and so far, touch wood, have not had a problem. I only go back when we have a change in tenants and have managed to do that twice without any gaps between them. We have even bought and sold with a quick visit back to sign papers and transfer funds. So it is possible - just do your homework and keep on top of things via phone and email.

People who say that no country holds a grudge against Germany have very short memories! I happen to be blonde and very well educated in the UK!! Why has the eurozone crisis and the fact that the British Prime Minister stood up for his country turned into a bi*ch fest for so many of you out there on EW! GROW UP and get a life! edited by sneckie on 12/12/2011 edited by sneckie on 12/12/2011

Thanks ladies for your replies! The people came into a clearly designated no smoking area, with no-smoking signs on the tables. With complete disregard for the 2 couples sitting there already, lit up! We both looked over at them and said loudly that it was a no smoking area but to be honest they could not have cared less, completely ignoring us and calling for a staff member to get them an ashtray. We complained to the staff in the bar and then again to the management as we left but this made no difference and he really did not give a monkeys!

did you complain or just leave? You have to complain ( to management) and point out if any municipal laws have been broken (don't know from your complaint). If municipal laws have been broken, file a formal complaint. Even talking to the venue management has little effect unless and until the municipality starts asking questions. mm we did complain and the staff were very good and sympathetic --- but --- they did not follow though with the smokers at the adjoining table and the result was us feeling as the odd ones out so we paid our bill and left -- all in the no smoking area .. .. the deciding factor was when staff put an astray on their table - no win situation :)

Try not to make this non smokers vs smokers... its the establishment thats in the wrong. If its meant to be smoke free then the staff should be enforcing it. But we all know that won't happen here... shame. edited to add, my opening statement is not directly aimed at OP - more aimed at all of us posting on this thread ;) edited by shellly on 15/09/2011 Definitely not aiming to make this a smoker v non-smoker debate. As made bold in my original request we are keen to know where to go to find a non-smoking environment in Dubai ... and will try the Broadwalk (under Dorrabay in the Marina???) and look at other posts on here to. Reality is that non-smokers are not catered for in this part of world and its about finding the few places that do -- our preference ... and they will get our "business" as a first choice but we do go to other places to.

I would love to stop eating junk food but that does not encroach on anyone else but me, however my addiction is not yours so why make smoking mine.

I'm almost afraid to speak up on this sensitive topic, but I'll be the quiet "Hear, hear!" from the back of the room!! Go for it Guinness --- we have a voice even though its a bit hoarse with all the fag smoke we inhale ... ... ... ...

Never worn skinny jeans, think my rear is too big for that! They do look good on people who wear them.

I highly recommend Gerlie, found at Beauty Factory, Iris Blue building, next door to the Grosvenor House in the marina. She is great and a really nice person. Many people have asked who does them, she has shaped them nicely and the colour lasts longer than any other I have tried.

I DHL'd my passport to Germany on 17th April, phoned them 2 weeks ago to be told that the photo was not good enough and to send more, another 150aed later and they would do it in 10 days. That was 2 weeks ago, so I phoned yesterday ended up in tears as the lady told me it would be another 4 weeks but she would get it put through speedy but would get someone to phone me today. The man from the Dusseldorf office phoned me this morning to tell me that it had been dispatched yesterday. Overall has cost me over £200 for this thing! We are travelling on 29th June and I still need an OZ visa put in. Overall has taken 6 weeks. Dont worry tell them that you need it urgently and they will do it for you

Gail takes a great aqua class on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8.30 at The Meridien, Mina Seyahi next to the Westin in the Marina. Mixed ages but lots of younger people as well. She is a task master! Great workout.

Hi, How old are your kids? I ask this as we went on safari from Arusha, to Lake Manyara, then on to the serengeti and back to Ngorogoro Crater, it was stunning and we saw everything but, it is a long way by road, very slow moving and can get quite bumpy, some days we travelled 200km in the truck and one of the other ladies was so sick, she ended up sleeping most of the way with travel pills to stop it. We stayed at the serena lodges, it was fantastic and the lodges were excellent. the driver was fantastic but it was almost like a spot the land cruiser then you knew there was something there to see. An amazing holiday but very tiring. We then flew to Zanzibar which is stunning but very run down, the resorts and food are fab but the bits in between are not so great. Stone town is very run down and in need of major help to stop the buildings collapsing. There is lots about the slave trade, which is really interesting but hard to believe what they did to these people. Very friendly people. If you go, take some pens, little note books, etc for the kids, they have very little and appreciate anything. Also take US dollars!
