Morning ladies! Hope you and all your little bumps are well. I had the 12 week scan and all is well with baby. Also found out the s*x of the baby. Wonderful news. I feel so different this time round compared to my first pregnancy. No Morning sickness, tiredness, no break outs on my skin. Had it all the first time round. Feeling very lucky. I am going to City Hospital with Dr Elsa, she is just fab, had my first lo with her.

Natashak, my dd is excatly the same, she is such a happy little girl. But she is very busy, and only happy when she is free to do what she wants to. She too cannot switch off in public. She has been like this from day one. I believe babies/toddlers like this are called high need babies. I dont think its your faults as parent, our kids are just a bit busier than others.

My 1.5 yr old DD does the same: " Finished, no more" and then points at my other b**b and says "more boo boo" edited by snowflake12 on 25/05/2012

Sorry to hijack, but would like to ask TSI a couple of questions too. We are going to Bali with our 17 month old at the end of the month. Do you recommend any accomodation? We are booked at Mercure Resort in Sanur, as I have been told its a good area for families. Where in Legian or Seminyak do you recommend. Thanks

Thanks Shelly, please let me know when you get back. We've been to Thailand before in June, hence the reason we are considering it again, knowing how easy it is with a baby. Green-ish, where in Italy do you recommend going? Thanks

Thank you. I've heard there are some older but larger apartments in Umm Seqeim but they're probably very popular. Yes, you want to get in there. We used to live there before there was a little baby and loved it. Its like living in a half a villa. I would say best single accommodation they have.

I just bought the Tomy Digital TD300 Monitor. It works a treat, baby sleeps upstairs and I can hear her every move downstairs or outside in the garden, great monitor. BTW we live in a 4 bedroom villa.

Its not that bad, or I dont find it that bad. There are lots of indoor play areas where you can take your toddler to play, whilst you can sit down and relax with the new baby. Lots of activities at home, stock up on the crayons, paint , play dough, etc. Good luck.

Getting a new maid from the Philippines, she is on a tourist visa, so no experience in Dubai. Her responsibilities will be to clean our 4 bedroom villa, washing and ironing. I have a one year old girl, but I dont work so I will look after her, just occasionally ask her to babysit if needed. I am offering her 1600aed and then I provide food and toiletries. Is that about right? Or is it too much? Sorry I am not too sure, first time getting a maid. Thanks

Moonbean, I totally agree with you. When I look at my dd, I see myself as a child, I think I had a great childhood, always playing outside, climbing trees, swimming, playing with all our animals, a meerkat included. Sometimes I feel like they miss out on all of that growing up in Dubai. Those are my fondest memories, and I would love for my children to have the same. Guess all I can do as a parent, is try to provide them with an ideal childhood.

Hi shelly. What did you decide on in the end? Just wondering as I have to make the same decision at the moment. Thanks We are starting our garden from scratch. With the grass we wanted to purchase the grass that rolls out so it is instantly nice and thick. The landscaping guy told us to stay clear of that grass and instead do the patches of grass. He said it grows quickly and in no time will have all grown/joined together and that it actually tends to be better quality in the long run than the rolled out grass. Does this sound right? If you had the grass planted in patches, how long did it take for your lawn to be perfect? If we were to have it planted within the next couple of weeks, do you think it would be nice and thick by late October? Thanks!

Kie, to be honest with you, my dd is 9 months old and she is still exactly like that. She will stay with my dh, but only for a short period of time. I am the only one that can put her to bed as well. Feel so sorry for my dh as he tries really hard. Plus its really hard on me, she needs me 24/7. And she is really not comfortable with staying with other people, we've tried everything, only happy when mummy is around. Good luck. Oh yes and like you and your baby, we also co sleep en still bf, everybody says thats why she is like that. Dont know.

You can actually buy them at any chemist, most have them in stock. I used the Pigeon shields, worked really well, thin silicone. Good luck and enjoy every moment with your new baby.

Fair enough. I come from one of those countries where the Rotavirus vaccine is not mandatory. Saying that, I have so many friends at home whose LO's either have been or are hospitalized because of rotavirus. So I am glad my LO had the vaccine as we are heading back home next week. Not comparing polio with rotavirus, think we all realize there is a big difference. I was talking about vaccines in general and not comparing.;)

To each his own.. At the end of the day vaccines are there to protect our babies to improve their immunity against really bad diseases out there. People tend to forget what the effects of these diseases are. Most of us have grown up in a time that we didn't have friends with these diseases, so people tend to forget that these vaccine-preventable diseases can be really, really deadly. Oh and by the way designbabe, I also EBF my LO and only want the best for her. Dont we all? We might not always agree on what is the best, as we all have different views.

You are glad she didnt get the rotavirus vaccination? Lets hope your LO does not get Rotavirus and pass it on to other babies. You dont want to put any little baby through that.
