Really wish I could help by trying to help catch it, but I'm not in Dubai at the moment. Poor thing especially if it is injured and hurt. Hope somebody can catch it before it gets caught by another animal or heartless human. A lot of people seem to keep rabbits as pets here so there would be a reasonable chance of finding it a new home. I may be imagining it, but didn't someone post another thread of a sighting of a few rabbits in Alvorado. Hope that doesn't mean that the others haven't survived.

I don't know what exactly happened & if I'm honest, I don't want to know as these awful images linger & upset me so much. I'm just so sad that these horrendous situations keep happening. A tragic reflection on mankind that some people think that inflicting pain and suffering on defenceless animals is acceptable. Has this situation been publicized in 7 Days?

Has anyone tried this new Soprano allegedly painfree hair removal? It was featured on 'The Doctors' advice programme on tv and sounds almost too good to be true eg suitable for all skin types and pain free. I have searched for information on hair removal on this site, but they mainly refer to the older versions which can cause some discomfort / pain and are best for certain types of skin, etc. I just wondered if any of you had any direct experience of this newer type of laser hair removal in Dubai and if so, what were you pleased, which clinic did you go to, any pain, side effects, etc.

Having experienced a very strong and potentially dangerous earthquake many, many years ago, I can only forward on the advice given to me then, although I would add that I don't think we are in a main danger earthquake zone area (although I'm no expert). If the quake became very strong, you should get to an open area away from buildings, potential falling debris, etc. As I said, I wouldn't like to think we are in a zone that would necessitate that. I know that the main epicentre may well experience after shocks after strong earthquakes, but hopefully we are well enough away from the centre that we will not feel those.

Yep....me too. First time I have felt it here in Dubai and I am on the ground floor of my villa. Computer screen just started moving, I felt dizzy and when I looked up, the light fitting in centre of the room was swaying and only just calming down now. Must have been strong for me to feel it on ground floor. Wouldn't like to be in a tall building now. Anyone else feel it?

I'm no expert, but if the mum isn't able to carry the last kitten maybe there is a problem with the mum cat.....she could be weak after a difficult birth or injured or sick in which case she needs help as she has four kittens dependent on her. It sounds as if more help may be needed than just reuniting them all. Maybe one of the cat charities could offer suggestions or help. Unfortunately, none of the kittens will survive long if the mum isn't able to feed, protect and look after them. So sad!

Well done for trying to help. Just be very careful because I have tried to help other new families that used to use a quiet corner of my outside covered area as a kitty maternity hospital, but both times, even though I thought I had kept my distance when leaving food (so I wouldn't frighten the mother) it seemed that the mother was spooked enough by my attempts to help that she moved her kittens. This stressed and upset me even more because at least while they were living in my garden, I felt they were partially safe, but once they disappeared, I was left very anxious for their safety but couldn't do anything as I didn't know where they had gone to. It s a very difficult situation for you, so professional help from one of the charities might be needed. Plus is it a type of building / landscaping hole that could end up being filled in by workmen? If so, obviously you would need to take action sooner rather than later. So many dangers for these poor animals.....including being sitting targets for cruel individuals. I hope their crying doesn't draw too much attention to them. Good luck and hope you manage to help.

Great idea.......well done to all involved. This is the first time I have heard of this. Looking at the Facebook page link it mentions that it has been on the news, but I must have messed it. Is there any chance that someone has contacts with 7 Days to get it more media coverage (of course this may have already been done). Is there a specific place we can pick up a ribbon or is it a case of bring your own? It would be wonderful if this city which seems to pride itself on its reputation of having the best of everything, could be known world wide for having one of the best animal welfare schemes. Please, please, please......irrespective of individual religions, please understand that an active concern, care and involvement in animal welfare is reflective of a greater concern and care for humanity. So much needs to be done to educate everyone that inflicting cruel pain and suffering on any living creature is a disgrace and should not be tolerated. Good luck on the campaign. I will be adding my ribbon ASAP. Thanks!

Any chance of getting the name of the company who quoted for tiling? I know it depends on floor size but my friend was quoted over three times that for downstairs area (no bedrooms). I'm not saying your quote is good because I don't know prices etc, all I can go on is my friend's quote and I know she is desperate to sort something out.

Omg blondie007 I haven't yet plucked up the courage to look at the link you posted because going by your reaction, it is going to be a really upsetting one!!! I stand in awe of all those kind souls & organsations out there who deal with the front line animal tragedies that seem to be so frequent here. I try to do my own small insignificant bit, but I think that coward as I am, I would struggle having to deal with the horrific harsh realities of animal neglect on a daily basis! Nomad, I know from your past postings, you have a kind heart and are very involved with animals & yes I know that there are far worse cases of neglect out there, but I still can't condone the callous approach taken by the posters of the first ad.

Strange thing is that although that ad has disappeared, there is another ad today for two cats needing a new home (without any photos & the briefest of information). I just hope that these aren't the same cats. I don't know if Dubizzle would have removed the first ad or by some remote chance, the owners saw the comments here & decided to re advertise in a different format. I just hope their conscience reminds them that the right thing to do is to look after their pets, not dump them. I really must stop looking at the pets section on Dubizzle. Too upsetting at times.

Sorry everyone, I have only just been able to get back online to see your replies. I am so, so glad that I am not the only one to be disgusted & sickened by these types of people......sometimes you do start to feel very alone with all this cruelty around. Last night I just felt I had to share this awful ad....possibly just to make sure that others were as sickened as me. I still can't understand the sick minds of people like this. How cold they be so callous? Unfortunately, the ad may have been removed but the cats may still end up being dumped! I really hope there is some karma in this world! I feel so sorry for those beautiful animals.

I know it isn't much help, but I seem to remember someone posting here or possibly Dubizzle about their missing cat who had a pink collar. Can't remember the colour of the cat or the area. I will try to trawl back to see ifi can find the thread. As he/she has a collar, he/she may also have a microchip. It might be worth popping along to a vet to find out.

That's wonderful news! It's so nice to hear of a happy ending (for a change). Hope that the cat was being genuinely looked after by a friend and not just left to its own devices while its owners were away! Well done to you and your neighbours who looked after the poor mite. He is a gorgeous cat. Just wish we could help find the missing siamese for parky53 now.

So great to hear some kind hearted people are trying to help this poor mite. By the way...if it is grey with a dark tail and blue eyes it could be a Siamese. There are lots of different color markings with Siamese and the photo you looked at could have been one of the darker breeds.....but there are lighter breeds which border on grey and blue eyes are a Siamese trait so could be the missing Siamese. Hope it finds a good forever home, bless it!

Update for all......unfortunately, i can't say if this is good or bad news. I left a few texts for the ad person trying to get an update and offering to help get the cat and i just called the guy and spoke to him. The guy said that he had gone down to see the cat and that someone (from shops where cat used to hang out) told him that some people came yesterday to get the cat. I only hope that the intentions of the people who took the cat, are good. I feel very sad and feel so bad as I wish I had gone to pick him up yesterday. I did tell the guy that if he sees him again, to give me a call. I can only hope that either he was 'found' by his original owners or that some kind soul has taken him in. Unfortunately, there are also other possibilities that dont bear thinking about. I feel so sad for the poor thing and wish I coud be certain that it had gone to a good home. I can only send a huge cyber thanks and hug to all of you who have taken the trouble to try to help. Lets hope he is now cuddled up on some kind person's lap, purring contentedly with a belly full of food. I just hope so...

So sorry to everyone who has been kind enough to take an interest, but only just had a chance to log back into this site ( been very busy sorting out family issues). Ok......update....as much as I know so far, although no definitive soution yet. When i first saw the ad i texted the person on the ad and suggested they contact some of the relevant charities ( gave contact details etc). In meantime I posted here ( huge thanks to kind interest from you all) and last night I sent an email to friends of animals with a link to the dubizzle page. They came back to me to say they had contacted the person on the ad and suggested that the cat shoud be taken to vet to see if he has a micro chip. They can then see if they can put him on the foster page to see if anyone will have him temporarily. I then texted the ad person again to check they had got the text and to ask to be kept updated. I don't know if he has been picked up off the street yet and taken to the vet, but I will try to find out and let you all know. In the meantime......if anyone knows of a loving home for this little mite to please get in touch. Btw......huge thanks to you all for caring and to all the animal charities out there who do so much. Really hope we can all help this cat.

Thanks so much for the interest and replies. Yes, as far as I know he is still on the street. I am hoping to find a permanent solution for this poor mite. I am trying to convince my other half to have him just temporarily to feed him up etc, but I am away in two weeks time so my other half isn't keen on having the additional responsibility of another cat to add to our existing brood while I am away. I am sure with a lot of love and food he would turn into a beautiful cat......I gather he is very friendly. I know that there are thousands of cats out there but some are born street cats and might be slightly more capable of coping, but it doesn't sound as if this one is. Any help, suggestions gratefully received and thanks again for help with feline friends board

Like all of you, I feel unbelievably sad for all involved. It is a parent's worst nightmare. I have no intention of adding to any distress by speculating, etc, but as a mum I just want to warn you all to be vigilant. I am not talking about Doha, but about my own experience, albeit many years ago. When my children were smaller I would regularly check fire exits, etc and point out their location to my kids if I ever left them at a friend's party in a public place, etc. Neurotic as I am, I also used to check that the fire exits were not locked because believe it or not, in two different locations, the staff had actually locked them (as they explained it) to prevent outsiders coming in. Unbelievable!!! Of course, I kicked up a huge fuss and made them open them, but this happened twice to me over the years and whilst this was a long time ago and I would hope and pray that regulations and safety awareness has moved on from those days, I don't think we can be complacent with our children's safety. I am not at all saying this was the case in this awful tragic situation, but I am just asking you as parents to double check. As I said, I know that things are far more regulated nowadays, but all it takes is one staff member who through ignorance of safety issues takes it upon themselves to 'lock' the exits for whatever reason. By the way, I also came across this in another country. Just don't assume and check for yourself. You don't have to necessarily open the doors and set off any alarms, but just try to look at the lock system yourself, or if you are in any doubt, ask the staff to show you. Our children are far too precious. So please.... 1. don't assume that your children would understand what to do and how to follow fire safety signs in an emergency, so explain what the sign means and what they should do and where they should go. I always used to tell mine that if they heard an alarm or siren, they should follow the sign and go outside as quickly as possible (depends on age of course). Up to you all to decide what advice you should give your children, but make them aware of fire exit signs and what they should do. 2. Don't assume that fire doors are 'open'. As I said, I would hope that things are far more controlled and regulated nowadays, but I would still err on the side of caution and double check.

Thank you to all of you for your suggestions. This is getting more and more confusing. I know I can't be the only one who has expat youngsters who want to drive and I am sure that there must be a way of doing it legally. I will try to find out about both the insurance and hire car options. The worrying thing is....that sometimes (as you know) you think you have asked the correct people (e.g. insurance / car hire), sorted out the problem....only to find out later (Heaven forbid) that it was never legal / correct in the first place and you are held responsible. You know what it is like....you seem to get a different answer depending on which insurance guy / driving school guy you speak to. I will try to call RTA but I am sure that will change depending on which person I speak to. Any other suggestions welcome.

Really really hope and pray this finally happens.....and soon.....and that it is professionally designed to ensure the best possible conditions for the animals. I am not a great fan of animals being confined in artificially created environments for 'entertainment' but I know there are some well respected 'safari type' environments in the world where the animals are well looked after and I hope that Dubai (like in all its projects) aspires to be the best of the best in this particular project.

Just a word of warning....as I have also had some horrible problems in the past with these trees strangling underground water pipes and choking drains, etc.......when you get someone in to get rid of the trees, I was told that the roots must be killed (my friend's gardener used chemicals injected or poured onto the roots). I was told that if you don't do that they will regrow and it is almost impossible to try to dig up the roots as an alternative because they go so deep and extend so far. Good luck!

Actually forgot to mention that Spinneys often have the old ads under the counter of the service desk at the entrance so depending on how old the ad was, they may still have it. Alternatively you could post an ad yourself......they are not supposed to charge for non profit community ads and give you a week free.

I have recently seen a black and white cat around the back parking lot of the community centre and around JESS bins. It has been foraging around for food and any titbits kind souls leave it. I have also seen a black one. It would be great if the black and white one turned out to be the one lost by Belac. When I see him next I will try to take a photo.

Incredibly moving!!! I have always loved that song and to watch these two youngsters perform it so movingly was a great start to my day. I have always hated fact that so many people can spend their lives feeling vulnerable and second best purely because others judge and form opinions based solely on appearance and so it is so wonderful to see the audience being 'shocked' into the realization that we all need to give people a chance to let their inner light shine. We are all guilty of judging ( me included ) especially in this image obsessed world and apart from his incredible voice, the joy will come from knowing that he has been able to ' shake up' people's perception of how we 'view' people. Thank u for posting it. Totally awesome!
