You don't have to download to your computer. You should be able to just switch on your tv Go to the apple tv page and buy from there if you log in with your iTunes account details. It loads directly to " my tv shows" or "my movies" under your Menu.
It's pretty instantaneous ( few secs) to buy and ready to watch. Agree takes much longer if downloading direct to computer first
