I have organised a party of 15 people on that night, in a restaurant at the Kempinski and starting to panic Panic? Really? Would the party be incapable of functioning if it had to do without live music, dancing and alcohol? Sorry. but the word "panic" is so massively overused on EW that it's pretty much lost its meaning. edited by Madge_Gustard on 24/06/2014 Ok, Panic might be a bit too strong. But after a tough year, I was looking forward to unwind for my birthday with a relatively big group of friends . If there is no atmosphere (Spanish place so was looking forward to the music etc.), it will be completely different than what was originally planned.

Hi Anybody could give me advice on where to go to have my son's eyes tested ? I have been to the mall, where I usually go for mine but they said it cannot be done there before the age of 12 (government rule apparently). So where should I take him ? any recommendations ? thank you

My two go to the same school I work at. I don't see how I would manage if not. With clubs, different finishing times and all it would be impossible for me to do differently.

Hi My maid's daughter is going to come and visit her this year. She is 14. I heard there are rules to apply for a visit visa like giving 2000 dhs deposit and paying a (non refundable) fee. Anybody knows or has done this ? thanks for your help

I have been to Dr Nasir many times for my kids but found his bedside manners far from being good. He also charged us for something that did not happen. I have decided not to go there anymore. I am also interested to hear of a good dermatologist for my kids.

Hi What is the maid's nationality ? Mine (Sri-lankan) has a passport that says "only valid to travel to GCC countries" or something like that. So first I think you ought to check her passport then see with French embassy how to apply for a visa.

Hi there To answer your question, KS1/FS1 is not compulsory and you can start straight into FS2 although places are really scarce especially in good schools. Having said that if your son is 4.5 he should actually be in FS2/KG2 now. It will be impossible I think to find a place for FS2 for January. Which means that you will need to find him a place for Year 1 next September. I am not sure if it is feasible to start year 1 without having done the FS stages. You could try to find a nursery that does FS2 so he would at least have 6 months at FS2 level. I think you need to sort out his schooling asap as it is a nightmare to find places anywhere...sorry for being honest!

We were so looking forward to going on Tuesday but I have just learnt it is a PG13 ? If you have been to see it, could you tell me if really is not suitable for below 10 ? (my kids and friend's kids are all between 4 and 8). Thank you.

Hi We are connected and live in Umm Suqeim 2. It did take a long time between having the cables installed and the whole thing connected. Also needed were a few trips from DH to Etisalat to take to managers and people who seem to know a bit better!

For my DD's school. 1- 20 in the class 2-Yes, there is an assistant with the teacher the all day. 3-No, just practising some sounds at home 4- It can happen although it hasn't happened at our school 5- There are observation but they are not really tests. Just to see how the children react / play with each other etc. 6-There should not be any 5 year old. In September, the children were 3 (very few children who were born in July,August / 3.5 or 4 (for one or two of the children born in September). Hope it helps. Good luck

I don't know if anybody will be able to advise me on what to do but here I am, with this post. We are blessed to have 2 beautiful children. Although it took a long time to conceive them (2 years for both of them), we did manage to conceive them naturally. I was taking Clomid before the 2nd child but I got pregnant on the month when I did not take any medication. We have now been trying for a 3rd child for 3 years (not every month though). I see a Dr who specialises in infertility. After various tests, it appears that there are no problems on my side or my husband side. But still, we don't manage to conceive. Last month, we did an IUI and were so hopeful! And today, eveything collapsed as I started on my periods. I am not sure about what to do next. Do another IUI ? Give up ? I will be 40 in a few years so this is getting me worried as well. I would be happy to hear from people who suffer(ed) the same problem. Thank you for any advice.

No, I am happy (well not really but...) to pay for it as it was my own mistake. So you reckon I can go and get a quote / have it fixed without any report ? That's a relief
