Hi, He sounds very much like my son was who has high functioning Aspergers. My son is also highly intelligent but really struggles at times when over stimulated, this for him comes when he is frustrated by something. Because he did not have the tools to regulate the emotion he can move from frustration into a full meltdown where you cannot communicate with him. He is also a perfectionist so many different things can trigger him into anger. My son is 10 now and I’ve noticed as he is getting older he has more understanding of his own triggers and how to control emotion. I know how hard it is, it’s tougher than tough where you are right now, but I’d suggest getting the child psychologist and teacher together with yourself to work through a plan of support for your son. Have you had your son tested for the autism spectrum? These kids once coupled up with tge therapists do amazing things. Your son sounds like a gorgeous and intelligent little boy who is trying his best......like you are in supporting him with his needs. Once I got my son into specialist support for his Aspergers (including the diagnosis) it all made sense regarding the behaviour. Keep your head held high and stay strong. Your words resonate so strongly with me. I’m new on here, but if you want to discuss further I’m happy too. Solomum x
