We had the Maxi Cosi Pebble which is meant to last till 6 months, but at 4 months I felt DD was too big for it and her shoulders were too confined (she's quite big for her age, height is the 95th percentile mashallah!) I stuck it out but by 5 months we had to get a bigger car seat (still rear facing though) since she would scream when we put her in the small one, and she is SO comfy in the big one so no regrets, but I wish I could have gotten longer use out of the Pebble. Point of my story is, some kids outgrow the small 0-6m carseats pretty fast!

I'm sort of on the same boat, DD is almost 8 months old and doesn't eat properly. I've pureed bananas, avocados and carrots at home and she eats a bit then stops after 2 bites, starts spitting it out and/or screams if I feed her more! I'm considering trying Baby Led Weaning, have you tried it?

Dubizzle used to be really effective for jobs but now is an absolute nightmare! Applicants really don't even read the job description half the time. I would suggest LinkedIn, it's free to post and a lot of professionals use it now to look for jobs. I think NaukriGulf.com is free too

I LOVE the Sephora primer! One of the best ones out there, and the price is great too. I find the Missha BB cream to be much better than the Clinique one - the shades are a pain in the Korean creams since they are quite pale so you have to use something on top, so the BB is more of a primer. The Missha ones come in 2 really nice yellow-toned shades though, #27 and #31 but they are more expensive too. The Skin79 BB in the hot pink bottle is a nice shade and has rave reviews everywhere, I'm going to be trying that one next! edited by sourskittleashnut on 03/03/2013

I had the Braun hand blender which didn't work because it had 2 blades, the good thing with the Kenwood one is that it has 3 blades, it really made a difference! Also, are you adding some sort of liquid like breastmilk/formula or water? That also makes the texture alot more smooth, if I blend the fruit/veg alone the texture is too thick - now my purees have the same consistency as the jars

You can get most of the Korean brands from the [url=http://www.thebbcreamgirl.com'>BB Cream Girl[/url'> website in Dubai - I got the Missha Perfect Cover one, the Missha Dubai store closed down in Dubai mall :( edited by sourskittleashnut on 03/03/2013

I use the Kenwood Tri-blade hand blender and it does a really quick job of making the food totally smooth. I add abit of formula as well when blending to get a nice creamy texture. Then I freeze it. I bought it from Spinneys in Mercato. http://www.kenwoodworld.com/uk/All-Products/Blenders-Mixers-and-Meat-Grinders/Hand-Blenders/HB712-Hand-Blender-0WHB712001/

I know what you mean, I'm trying to find a maid/nanny these days and it's really important to me that she interacts well with LO. Right now I had a maid come for an interview but she was so non-enthused and *blah* when she met my LO I could tell she's the type who doesn't really like kids, which is fine, everyone has their own personality. So I'm still looking! We had a maid for 4 years for my nephew and she absolutely loved him, took care of him and played with him like he was her own. It was just her nature and personality, nothing we did to train her, and we couldn't have forced her to be as loving as she was, it came from within. Bottom line, every maid has her own personality. If you're not happy you could replace her and in the interview process make it a priority to see her interaction with LO. Having to be away from LO is tough and you want to make sure she's in good hands. Good luck!

I think weight loss from bfing doesn't apply to everyone, I only breastfed for 5 weeks, and I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight by 8 weeks. I didnt gain alot of weight in my pregancy so maybe thats also why? You're doing [b'>great[/b'> breastfeeding for so long, don't give up just for your weight!

Hi ladies, Just to update, DD has started homemade puree and is loving avocados and hating bananas lol! I used ice cube trays from Carrefour that are very useful for storing baby food, since they are very easy to bend and pop out the cubes, they are 6dhs for 2 trays. I also found great storage at Mothercare, they have pop-out freezer containers as well as small freezer pots in different sizes with lids, great for freezing and then taking on the go. Their bowls are also very good with lids and useful handles making them easy to hold, they also have bigger bowls with suction cups. All very reasonably priced too, I got: - a pack of 4 freezing tubs with lids that each hold 3oz (90ml) for 35dhs (they also had tubs of 60ml or 30ml not sure, they were so cute and tinyyyy, also with lids) - a pack of 2 feeding bowls with handles and lids for 25dhs. The products I'm referring to are of the Mothercare brand itself. For anyone looking to store homemade baby food, I highly recommend a trip to Mothercares tableware section :) Picture of my purchase: [url=https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4172972/MothercareTableware.jpg'>link[/url'> edited by sourskittleashnut on 25/02/2013

Some tips and tricks: [b'>Pump brand:[/b'> Buy the Ameda lactaline pump, it costs only 800dhs, its hosital quality and works just as well (if not better) than the Medela ones. They'll do home delivery which is so much easier: +971 4 2382360 [b'>Mothers Milk Tea[/b'> - available at life pharmacy, increases supply for most women [b'>Fenugreek supplements[/b'> - also works for a lot of women. do not buy the golden jar brand (Solgar) its so expensive, theres a brand that comes in purple, orange and white jars (Now), its much cheaper to buy this Good luck! edited by sourskittleashnut on 02/02/2013

I highly recommend a read through this article, I wish I had found it sooner! I know that Inspire Nursery takes weeks off but they do a camp scheme, so you can still send your kids in. So in the 2 weeks Easter break they would have a Spring camp, but you would pay for it. I think its 500dhs a week, not sure.

I'm going to be sending DD to Inspire Nursery, they take babies from 4 months+, they are located near Umm Suqeim Spinneys, I went for a tour and I'm happy with their set up and staff. I'm also going back to work, and I too considered a nanny as an option. I opted for nursery because she'll learn more at nursery and get to be social and have fun (they do things like hand painting and story time and songs for that age). With a nanny I have no guarantee the nanny will even play with her or that DD will learn anything, the nanny might just spend most of the time texting on her phone while DD gets bored. Good luck! edited by sourskittleashnut on 30/01/2013

my LO almost rolled off the couch at 4 months old, my husband caught her just in time else she would have been flat face down on our marble floor! I can imagine the stress you're under, but I'm glad to hear the baby sounds fine, babies are a lot tougher than we think! if it'll make you feel better take her to paediatrician tomorrow

So Sophie the Giraffe is now available in Toys R Us for only 65dhs!! I saw it in the Sahara Centre one, they have so much variety in the Sahara branch of other toys too like Lamaze btw. That's a really good price for Sophie, they have the other Sophies too like the teether shape and the mini ones. I got mine off eBay for 75dhs, so this is still cheaper. DD loves it btw, her favourite thing to bite on - I dont see anything special about it, just seems like any other rubbery plastic squeaky toy!

After lots of trial and error, heres the systerm that works best for me. Some people might not agree with it, but as said, everyone has their own preference. I'm the kind of person who usually leaves the house in a rush so I dont have time to wait for the boiled water to cool. DD has 180ml feeds so here's what I do: - Sterilise bottles - Pour 150ml of previously boiled but cooled water into the bottles - Boil water in my electric kettle (takes 2 minutes) - Fill up my flask with boiling hot water All this takes 4 minutes! Then when I need to make a feed, I add 30ml of boiling water from the flask to the bottle which already has 150ml in it, and the water temperature is perfect and warm for drinking

Thanks CitronKB! I called Mom&Me in DCC right now and they said they only have Axiss and PrioriFix car seats? I asked the lady 3 times but she insisted they dont have Pearl! So weird, but then again in Dubai sometimes the phone service isn't very helpful, maybe she just didnt understand what I was saying?! Going to go today or tomorrow and check, calling stores here sometimes is useless!

DD has been on Aptamil 1 since she was 1 month old. Now she is 6 months old so I switched her to Aptamil 2, but it's making her super constipated. She has also started some solids (just Organix Four Grain Cereal for now). Should I stick to Aptamil 1 since it suits her, or is it important to switch to Aptamil 2 at 6 months? The boxes say Aptamil 1 is from birth to 6 months, and Aptamil 2 is 6 months to 12 months.

I've tried a few, the best one I got was from Carrefour of Thermos, it says 'Thermocafe' on it, they have 500ml for 50dhs and 1litre for 80dhs (I think). Its very nice looking with a metallic colour, I got the purple one, and most importantly it keeps the water at the same temperature all day! The babyshop Juniors ones are the worst!

My son has been in it since he was 5 months, now 15, and its perfect. Its easy to clean, wash, and comfortable. haven't seen it here though, I brought it with me when i came back from the states after he was born but you can find it on amazon Hi Chi2xb, Where did you get the Fisher Price space saver from in Dubai?

Sorry for my late reply, cherryculture.com delivers to a PO Box address via USPS or through FEDEx to your home but you have to pay more for FedEx. Wait for their sales though, they dont have one right now :( With USPS it takes more than a month for the package to get here, grrrr! but totally worth saving money! edited by sourskittleashnut on 29/12/2012

The Cherry Stone Pillow is really good - maintains heat for a long time and has been a lifesaver for me! Heating pads can't retain heat as long, and hot water bottles can sometimes get too hot and gave me sores at one point! You can get this pillow from Brands For Less in Dubai.

I got a Boppy dupe from Babyshop (its of their own Juniors brand) and its been fantastic and much cheaper at 70dhs. I used it in my pregancy to put between my knees when I slept, I used it for breastfeeding and now when I bottle feed as well so DD is comfortable, and DD has reflux so at 4months old now she lies down on it too and is elevated - after all this, it's still in good shape!

One additional advice: Use the digital tests. I found out 3 days before AF was due, I was using the regular tests and going crazy seeing imaginary lines on them lol, with the digital one it can tell you earlier than regular tests and its a clear + or -

I checked for you on Amazon but its out of stock :( Just wondering why you are looking at this one particularly, since I am looking at high chairs these days too. I saw that it hasn't got very good reviews overall, theres some other ones that seem to be better like the Graco 4 in 1 or a simple Fisher Price one (both can be shipped to Dubai via Amazon) http://www.amazon.com/Chicco-Polly-Highchair-Graphica/dp/B004WO8A7U edited by sourskittleashnut on 17/11/2012

So they must be lying around somewhere in a post office in Dubai! I went to the Karama one but they said all packages first come to the Rashidiyah Emirates Post (next to Mawakeb School) so to check there. Going there tomorrow, hope I find them!

I can tell you from personal experience it will affect her teeth. I didn't take the pacifier, but I did drink milk from the bottle till I was 7 years old (!), and it severely affected my teeth. My front upper teeth were literally 45 degrees out and it took 3 years of (painful) braces to fix them, and my lower jaw is more receded than it should be and I used to get a painful locking in my jaw around the time I was 10 years old. Two dentists have confirmed to me I had these problems because I took the bottle so long. I dont blame my mom tho, I was just a very stubborn kid ;) But do force ure DD stop, we as mothers know better than kids do, whether they like it or not! edited by sourskittleashnut on 01/11/2012

hi there, my DD is 3.5 months old so obviously there's a big difference in our babies diets, but these days I am actively trying to make her sleep through the night, and last night she finally slept thru without waking up for a feed (Alhamdulilah, dont want to jinx it!) from 8:30pm till 6:30am. I previously tried giving a pacifier, or water, but she got SO angry at me because she was genuinely hungry when she would wake up at night. @angel joy My DD has a had a cold for about 3 weeks as well and every time she would feel her breathing get blocked she would freak out and wake up crying and the only thing that would console her was having milk, every 2-3 hours, it was exhausting! Here are my tips: - Keep her breathing easy: Put some Olbas oil drops on a tissue near her at night, the vapour will clear her breathing. Also keep her nose clean, I ordered NoseFrida on Amazon and it works reallyyyy well to clear out her nose, better than aspirators. When her nose is clear she sleeps alot better. Also keep her elevated - Sleeping bag: Keep her in a sleeping bag so she stays cosy throughout the night - Soluble biscuits in her last night feed: I did this last night for the first time, I added just one since she's small but you can add more, they make the last feed heavy so the baby doesnt feel hungry soon. Make sure you use a variflow/fast flow teat. I got the Milupa ones. She slept through without feeling hungry. - Increasing intake in the day: she was having 90ml/120ml feeds in the day, and 180ml at night! Now I make sure she's having full big feeds in the day. Good luck!
