I second Mamas & Papas: if they are brand conscious, they'll love a playmat from there!

I use Purex baby detergent liquid, and a tablespoon of Downy baby fabric softener (it's the white bottle with a baby on it) in the washing machine, and the clothes come out really soft. I haven't had any issue with a skin reaction, thankfully!

whatever i am choosing they say the item cannot be shipped :( Hi angel joy, Make sure the items you choose are new items, and it says 'Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.' under the price. I didnt have any problem - if you like let me know which items you want and I'll check for you.

Hi there, I have a 3 month old baby girl. In my pregancy, I lost weight too because I fell sick 3 times (fever, food poisoning,) and took antibiotics and lost my appetite for weeks. In my 6th month I was only 1 kilo more than my prepregnancy weight and was worried too. By the end of my pregnancy I had only gained 3.5 kilos! I was very concerned it would affect the baby, but Alhamdulilah (praise be to God) I have a healthy girl, she was small when she was born (3 kilos/6 pounds 8 ounces, I think due to my little weight gain) but now she is thriving and her weight is in the 97th percentile! I had her at 39 weeks. I also didnt see an increased appetite throughout my pregnancy, I craved weird things but never ate alot even in my 9th month, so I wouldnt worry about it if I was you. As long as the baby is gaining weight in your checkups thats whats important. Just remember to take your vitamins regularly, and eat healthy. I think the 'eating for 2' isnt for everyone. Good luck!

[b'>Update:[/b'> I ordered the Fisher Price Jumperoo on 10 October from Amazon.com, came to about 400dhs with Amazons own shipping, and it arrived today 13 October - super fast! [b'>@The Dangerous Blonde[/b'> thanks for the info, appreciate it! However the Jumperoo was coming to 500dhs just for shipping with Shop and Ship because its so heavy, 7kgs! So I used Amazon.com's own shipping

thanks all! i've read Gina Ford and now I'm reading No Cry Sleep Solution, just mixing and matching to see what works so far, still have Baby Whisperer to go! I've been keeping a schedule, she sleeps for the night by 8:30pm max, and wakes up 6 or 7 hours later for her night feed, (around 4am) even if I give her a dream feed at 11pm. I thought she was doing it out of habit but if I give her water or pacifier at 4am she howls until I give her milk so it seems she is genuinely hungry! Then she wakes up 2 or 3 hours later (around 7:30am) has another feed and is up for the day. I don't mind since I know that at about 3 months the fact that she can sleep this much is still pretty good, but I'd like to eliminate the night feed, but not complaining at all :) I'm thinking maybe it's because she's not feeding enough in the day (she's having 120ml every 4 hours, comes to about 5 feeds a day) but she refuses to take more in the day, and she has reflux so I dont want to stuff her else she'll throw up. She takes Aptamil AR and according to the box she should be taking 180ml in 5 feeds. Going to ask her pediatrician about this in her check up next week but if you moms have any input I'd really appreciate it! edited by sourskittleashnut on 13/10/2012

If you make an account with Amazon, thats all u need to do and they'll quote you for shipping. I didnt use Aramexs Shop and Ship because they charge by weight and it was coming to more expensive since the Fisher Price Jumperoo is 7kg, the Amazon shipping direct to my Dubai address was coming muchhh cheaper. I suggest making an Amazon.com account, add items to your cart and checkout, put in your Dubai address and see how much they quote your items + shipping will cost, I was pleasantly surprised!

Hi ladies, I just got 3 month old DDs health card done today even though her passport and visa aren't done. The rule is as long as the baby is born in Dubai and the parents both have valid UAE Residence visas, the baby can get a health card and free vaccinations done. Just thought I'd let new moms know they dont have to wait for the baby's passport and visa to take advantage of the free vaccinations :D edited by sourskittleashnut on 09/10/2012

You can order off Amazon.com, even with shipping it will come to cheaper than buying in Dubai (if you're willing to wait about 2-3 weeks for it). I ordered a Fisher Price projection mobile and Fisher Price Jumperoo, the total with shipping was 670dirhams, and had I bought them from here, it would have cost 1200dhs total (the Dubai prices are 400dhs for cot mobile, 800dhs for Jumperoo from ELC), so I got the toys for half of Dubai prices. edited by sourskittleashnut on 09/10/2012

thank you all for the advice! she is sleeping for 6-7 hours straight at night which has been amazing, but it's more from her own pattern (and swaddling) and I didnt really do much to make it happen! so i'm trying to keep her good routine going, and refine it more :) I dont believe in too strict an approach and schedule since she's not a robot and will have minor changes here and there. going to buy the books recommended here tomm will let you know how it goes!

Hi ladies, It works perfectly and was very efficient and getting out what little I had! It was so convenient to have both at the same time, I used an Avent manual one before and was miserable! I have put an ad on Dubizzle, where you can see pics: http://tnydu.biz/DQf5Fk I have an offer of 500dhs, but since I posted here first, if you ladies are still interested @ 500dhs, please let me know and I will sell it to you :)

So I was looking at prices online for toys, and I'm surprised it comes to cheaper than Dubai, even with shipping! For instance, I really like the Fisher Price Precious Planet projector mobile for DD's cot, but 400dhs seemed alot for a mobile (this is the price at Toys R Us)! I checked on Amazon.com, it's $49.50 and with shipping included it's coming to less than 200dhs! Going to be doing alot of online shopping tonight for DD :) Has anyone else used Amazon for their baby purchases?

My LO used to that, turns out she has reflux, so after feeds and burping I keep her upright for 10 minutes, then lay her down at an angle. It's really eliminated the grunting! Also I give her the pacifier which helps soothe her and she can't make any noises when it's in her mouth ;)

[b'>Update:[/b'> Pottery Barn Kids had an End Of Season Sale on a cot, and it cost us just 560dhs! Usually their cots start from 2600dhs+, so it's a real bargain and I highly recommend anyone looking for a cot to go to PB Kids ASAP to see if they still have it (We went to the one in Mirdif City Center). The cot is a medium-brown colour, height adjustable, but the sides don't drop. . The mattress size for it is 70cm x 132cm, and PB Kids mattresses start from 700dhs, we got a Latex one from Babyshop on sale for 350dhs (normally it's 460dhs). Babyshop had cheaper ones (like foam, and foam with springs), the latex one is the most expensive. These are American sizes, which is why it worked to get the cot from PB and mattress from Babyshop, if I had gone to Mamas & Papas it wouldnt have fit since they have UK sizes. Mothercare has their own size which was 60cm x 120cm, their cots started from 500dhs, and were also height adjustable but no drop sides. Now if only I can get Pottery Barn linens on sale for the cot, they are gorgeous! edited by sourskittleashnut on 01/10/2012

Hi ladies, I am selling my Ameda Lacataline Dual Electric Breast Pump. I purchased this 4th August for 800dhs. I used it a few times but my supply is very low so I started my daughter on formula and packed this away. It's barely been used, and comes with the original packaging and accessories. I am selling for 450dhs.

Well I like it thin, because if its cold it gets so thick it blocks the teat area, and alot of it doesnt go through and gets wasted! But if you like it thick then you can make it cold :) Its really suited DD and her reflux has improved alot, we give it to her warm-hot so its thin

My DD takes Aptamil AR, I'v e found that if the water is warm-hot before I add the formula, the formula mixes well and its quite thin and milk like. If the water is room temperature-cold then the formula mixes to a thick consistency, my husband calls it a milkshake! We use #2 teats because of the thickness.

Aptamil has ready-to-use formula cartons in 200ml sizes, just cut the carton and pour into the bottle. Very useful for travelling, and you can get them from Waitrose and Spinneys. I plan on travelling in a couple of months so will def be taking those with me.

OMG ladies, swaddling has worked wonders! I was reaching my wits end, my 2 month old was not sleeping during the day at all, and was such a light sleeper at night. Her grunting after 4am was keeping me up, and then spending the whole day up with her was exhausting me out. She hated swaddling since we brought her home, when she would realize her arms are tied she would cry and wiggle till we let her loose, so since day 4 she hadn't been swaddled, till now. DH got me the Miracle Blanket from Mothercare, and we tried it out and it has made SUCH a difference. Yesterday she was doing her usual 8pm fussiness and I wrapped her, and it was so tight she had no room to move her arms. She just went quiet the minute I was done and was staring at my face, like "What did you just do to me?", it actually made me laugh it was so cute! She went from sleeping 3 hours max in a row at night before waking up crying for a feed or change, to sleeping 7 hours straight! I kept waking up to check if she's ok, I was worried she hadnt woken up yet! Now she is taking a nap in the day which is unheard of, normally she'd sleep 5 minutes in the day and be up again. Right now she is napping in her swing, arms swaddled (I left her legs out so I could buckle her in) and white noise on, and has been sleeping for 45 minutes! I highly recommend trying swaddling with the Miracle Blanket, I'm amazed how well it worked! edited by sourskittleashnut on 20/09/2012

I'm a big advocate of online shopping, even with shipping you can save so much money! All these websites ship to Dubai. I highly recommend reading reviews on MakeUpAlley.com before buying, so you can find out more about the products and shades. [b'>[u'>CherryCulture.com[/u'>[/b'> - wait for their sales, I bought my last order everything was 20% off! They have NYX, Milani, LA Girl and Jordana. [b'>NYX[/b'>: Its still more priced in Dubai (Their Matte foundation is 44dhs at Lifestyle, and 27dhs online) and they dont have much variety at the stores here, it's much cheaper online and GREAT products with lots of shades: mainly eyeshadows and blushes. [b'>Milani[/b'>: Really good blushes, powders and palettes [b'>LA Girl[/b'>: Concealer is meant to be good, havent tried it! Other products are good too [b'>Jordana[/b'>: VERY cheap, really good eye pencils and blushes too [u'>[b'>SleekMakeup.com[/b'>[/u'> Amazing eyeshadows, check out their palettes, as well as other products [u'>[b'>MakeupMania.com[/b'>[/u'> [b'>Ben Nye[/b'>: professional quality and very reasonable. Highly recommend face products like foundation, concealer and powder. [u'>[i'>[b'>@sumer2012:[/b'>[/i'> [/u'>Can you get Ben Nye products here? I love their banana powder, I ordered it but it seems to be out of stock/delayed on alot of websites! edited by sourskittleashnut on 20/09/2012

I agree with what the other posts have said, you might as well start real milk. My DD is only 8 weeks old so not really the same situation, but for me the winning combo was Aptamil formula and Tommee Tippee bottles (DD didnt like Similac formula or Avent bottles).

I was also looking at the Quinny Buzz but didnt purchase it because it didnt recline to a fully flat position and, like you, I didnt want to buy a separate bassinet type attachment since it would be useless after a couple of months, and I also felt like the seat area looked too narrow. I wanted it go flat so that when LO was very small she would be comfy in it to sleep, and I wouldnt leave her in the car seat too long since it would keep her back curved for a long time. We finally got the Maxi Cosi Elea pushchair and I LOVE it! The seat goes completely flat, its very soft and padded, and the whole pushchair looks great. It drives very smoothly too, and it folds very compact. I suggest you look at the Kiddicare videos on YouTube on this model. My DD is 8 weeks now and she is very comfortable in it since I can put it flat when she wants to sleep and have it half up when she wants to look around (there is also a fully up option for when shes bigger and can sit up). I cant recommend it enough, I'm so happy with our decision. Its available at Mom&Me and they are on sale right now too, I think it'll cost you about 2100dhs on sale.
