Hi Nicegirl, It is recommanded to introduce solids by 6 months. Who is your pediatrician ? Did he explain why you should start by corn flour or cereals so early?

Andy (AndreaA) was my doula when I gave birth last October....there would be a testimonial from me on her website if I wasn't so lazy! She was an amazing doula and helped me to have the natural birth experience I so desperately wanted. Her prenatal sessions were fantastic so we didn't need to do the v expensive ante natal classes and she helps afterwards visiting when baby is new and she is also a lactation consultant. My husband also thought she was incredible during the birth and she helped him to support me in the right way so that he felt a full part of the process...I think not having family around and the very medicalised birthing process in Dubai, having a doula is essential if you want to enjoy your birth and be in control as much as you can. She helped us also by advising us to move me into different birthing positions and well... she was incredible. A lot of my friends used her also as a LC and some wished they'd had her as a doula!! She is a breatfeeding councellor, not a lactation consultant. A LC must be a healthcare professional and the training require much more experience, hours of study, it is a very rigourous process Always check which training your doula has taken A lot of people call themselves lactation consultant without training.

Thanks Apricot! I have met the previous nursery director, I had a good impression, but my baby was too young to be registered there. I dont feel very comfortable to let my bb in a place with such staff turn over now.

Hello, I am thinking to register my baby to this nursery. I have already visited the nursery, but would like some reviews, if possible. Apparently, the nursery is bilingual English / Arabic. How is the level in Arabic? I saw on internet that this nursery belongs to Ismailians. Do they have any religious teaching to the kids? TIA:)

HAK how did you miss that thread, ;) it was a long one! ;), memorable for the alleged "breastmilk is high is sugar and will give your baby diabetes....." comment among others, luckily we all have a mother instinct, if you think your baby needs you they most likely do. lol - I must have been on holiday! Seriously though, if this person is giving out that kind of wacky "advice", she really ought to be struck off. I would have actually walked out of that consultancy and refused to pay. Medical professionals have a duty to give impartial, informed advice that is soundly rooted in scientific research, not some loony theory based on whatever they may have cooked up. Is it not allowed to tell her name ? I wouldn't, because it's someone's reputation on the line and you can enter into all kinds of libel issues if you're not careful. Naming and shaming on the Intarwebz is generally frowned upon for good reason. Instead, if anyone has grievances, they should always go through the appropriate channels - direct, through teh company and/or through the regulatory body. As a first parent ( like 2 blossom said ) that is not always easy, I think.

I usually put it in a regular pot, and equal amount of boiling water, add butter to taste and it's never lumpy. But I guess it's not authentic! I do the same thing and always get great results. Never understood the need for a special pot - except for the fact that it looks nice! With the special pot, the taste is definitely different. And it's also part of the tradition I guess. But, It takes hours to do it in the proper way !

What d they mean by retailer ? scary ! The shops that sell us the meat and fish! This means 97% of all shops that carry meat and fish are not practising proper or adequate public health and hygiene standards. Scary Indeed! Is spinneys, carrefour in the 97 % ???? :\::\:

Really ? 350 AED for a weigh-in ? You can buy the scale for this price ! Medicine is such a business for some people in Dubai In Medicenter, the baby clinic is freeeeeeeeeee and you can weigh your baby ! In the lactation clinic in Alwasl, you can meet a lactation consultant and weigh your baby for free also

I have the swing wich is very good. You can also rent a hospital grade pump. I think there is some hygiene issue if you buy a second hand pump.

I have eczema as well as my baby. I am trying to avoid cortisone as it will disapear, but when the eczema is coming back, it is spreading and worst. The best brand I found is Bioderma. For me I am using Bioderma PP ( daily) or PO cream ( crisis). They have also a cream for babies ( ABC derm, ATO plus) which is very nice, and with less chemicals. Otherwise, avoid hot bath, sweat. No daily bath( 2- 3 times per week is enough) with very mild soap. Coton clothing is best. And , of course, avoid any particular allergen Hth edited by spamm on 23/06/2011

We shouldnt see health professionals take advantage of the naivety of mums . I agree too, cecile is taken as a guru by lot of expatwoman, who dont ever question the long term effect of her sleep training
