thanks ladies....Claire, she is eating the rolls and sandwiches but she did come home one day and she hadn't eaten it and I decided to give her for lunch the next day some pasta with ham, cucumber, mayo through it and she loved it, big happy face saying "Mummy, the pasta was yummy, I finished it all!" so I thought right I think we need some variation here! Any more idea's welcome...and for the snack in the morning, normally I prepare fruit with crackers or croissant or pancake, any other ideas? thanks....

Yes it is very frustrating, we are moving end of nov beginning of dec and went to see a few villas in jumeirah/umm Sequiem but agents told us to wait 3-4 weeks before we leave to start looking. I am also concerned about what will be available at this time as this is the area I want to move too, and I have been rushed into taking a villa before as my time was running out! I don't want to be in that position again. Hi mayabkk, it is really frustrating! I too am looking in Jumeriah/Umm Sequeim and at the same time so will know doubt bump into you at the viewings lol!! seriously though, I hope we find something good......

Spicy pepper, Good luck on the villa hunting! We also want to move to a villa in Jumeirah, since both my boys go to scool there.We'd prefer a villa in a gated community or a compound villa. My husband works outside the country , so I'm mostly alone with three kids and I like to feel safe. Have you seen anything of the sort and do you have any idea of the prices? Our budget is 150-170 Hi Narjess, The best place to look to get an idea of prices and what's available is Dubizzle. I too am looking at Jumeirah, I think you will be able to get a 3 bedroom villa for that, the 4 beds might be a bit over that, I may be wrong though and other ladies may know better as I'm just starting my search, good luck!

completely depends, found my villa in march, didn't move in until june - they were gutting it completely. the one next door is only just finished - so that's taken them 6 months to get sorted! Thanks Kelly! how do you find villas that are in the process of being renovated as that would really appeal, are they advertised? did the estate agent contact you about them as it would be ideal to book something being renovated for being ready in a few months.....

I had an emergency operation to remove my appendix there and they were brilliant. Was very pleased with the level of care and a great result for me, you can hardly even notice any scars, would go back there in a minute!

I moved from a very quiet house back home to a much nosier one here. The only solution for me was to find really good ear plugs which I unfortunately have to sleep with every night, that was my only way to get a better nights sleep. You can get really soft ones that just mould into the shape of your ear and are quite comfortable, hope you find a solution....

Thanks ladies. We thought we were in the right as we didn't believe she was due it until after a year anyway but we wanted to pay for her to go home just to be nice since we were going away anyway at the summer. But I just don't feel it's right paying for a flight that didn't happen especially during her first year!!

Thanks ladies! We just popped over to Sunset Mall and found a kids hairdressers in there called Lollipops which was good! very nice inside and cost 60aed a childs cut, they had ipads there to keep them amused!

Hi Sadie, How did you get rid of the ghost ants? I've noticed some in my house recently.....they are tiny but annoying!!! I've had a couple of cockroaches too, as have my neighbours, I do think it's just normal here.x Hiya - I actually had the maintenance company come in and fumigate the kitchen. I had to leave my villa for 5 hours but I've not seen them since so I can feel a bit more confident in the kitchen that the horrible little ghost ants won't jump onto anything. I've got all my dry stores now in air tight plastic containers - I'm always on the look out as I HATE them. Apparently the fumigation will keep them at bay for quite some time but not forever! I have a 4 year old Son and there were no problems with whatever was used to treat them. I mention that as I've seen other people mention concerns. If they're bothering you I'd do the same Thanks Sadie, I will contact the owners of our compound and see what they say. I have found they are coming in through small cracks near our patio doors on our terrace, hate them!!!

I would agree with the other girls. Try your best to adjust your baby into a new routine. I have been trying to get back into work here but have had to give up and be a stay at home mum due to the problem with managing the school runs. It's best if you can manage the runs yourself. I was scared to drive at first in Dubai but I'm getting there now, it takes time but just do lots of practice runs when it's quiet preferably a Friday morning and you will get there x

Hi girls, My daughter had chicken pox about a year ago and she never picked or touched her spots but has been left with 2 scars on her face from when the scabs fell off. Does anyone know of any miracle creams for them? I've tried bio oil but it doesn't seem to have made much difference :( thanks!

Thanks ladies for all your comments. I have spent lots of time looking at Agoda today but it's those expensive sea plane transfers coming in at the end that bump the price right up! The thing is we are planning to go in December as I have my parents over so it's the ideal time for my hubby and I to get away for our first proper break since having the children. I'm wondering as it seems to be one of the most expensive time to go if we should postpone to another time in the year when it's cheaper? Why don't you take a boat transfer instead, much cheaper we did that and it worked out fine? Thanks Vera, how do you do that as everytime I'm on Agoda or Expedia it just automatically adds on the seaplane transfer at the end which works out at another £500 on top!

We don't have the Travel book, though at this rate I'm thinking of getting it! We used an Entertainer BOGOF voucher at Bab al Shams and got two rooms for the same night at the price of one, IYSWIM? Oh, that's good, do you know if Babs al Shams has interconnecting rooms so you could have the kids in one room and us in the other?

Thank you, I have ordered it and got the family book free. Really excited about it. Could someone explain how the 2 for 1 offers work with hotel stays. For example if you stay 3 nights, would you just get 1 night free, or if you stay for 4 nights do you get 2 nights free or still just the 1? Sorry for the obvious questions, new to this!!!

It is really annoying! I sent my husband back and the manager was able to produce a sale sheet showing that it had been up as high as 1450 aed and reduced to 750 aed in the sale so what could we say. What I think has happened is that they increased the price maybe a week or 2 before the sale and then put it back down 50% to the original price if you see what I mean. I know that if it was 1450 aed originally I wouldn't have considered buying it. I didn't take it any further as had other things going on at the time. Still annoyed about it but just kept the bag as I always liked it in the first place. I am now going to be extremely weary of these so called sales.

I sent to germany 2 passports to be renewed. they were sent on 21st may, it took 2 days, i was tracking them online because of the weekend etc. they arrived 23rd, 24th credit card deducted. after 4 weeks still nothing.... so sent them an email in germany to see where they were in the queue. got a reply to say that hopefully they will be processed this week.... send another email the following tuesday as nothing has turned up. got a reply back that they would be printed that day or the next..... so best guess they would be back with me end of that week or beg of next week... contacted dhl to see if anything showing on systems, they can track from name and telephone number... nothing yet, saturday morning early i get a phone call from dhl saying that they have 3 packages, i tell them you should have 4, as there should be 2 plus 2, 2 new passports from uk, and 2 old passports from germany.... so in the end i actually get them all back at the same time, even though the uk ones were sent 1 day later than the germany ones (the journey that the old passports take through germany is very long.. through 3 different cities). all in all it took nearly 5 weeks, gave them plenty of time, but its not knowing what is happening to them.... thats the issue. i was told as an expat not to bother phoning the expensive help line! Thank you busybee! my passport arrived in Germany on 25th May so around the same time as yours! when did you get yours back? also could you give me the email address so I could contact them? I can't find it anywhere? thanks! Sorry and also you said you contacted DHL, which number did you call? can they trace by just your mobile number and no tracking number? sorry for all the questions!! dhl number is their customer service number 800 4004 Thank you! I have called, they still have no record of it but it gives me hope that it might not be far behind yours! I have now found the email address and sent them a mail, fingers crossed I will hear soon, thanks for all your help!!

Hi, I'm coming up for the 6 week wait mark on my daughter's renewal of passport and still no sign of it. Does it just turn up at the door with a courier or do they contact you before to say it's on it's way? is there anyway of contacting them to see the status of it apart from this number that seems to cost a fortune?. Starting to stress now as going home in a few weeks but sent it away with about 10 weeks to spare!! didn't think it would be taking this long!! thanks!

I know what you are saying. I have been here 6 months and still don't like driving. I'm confident of the Jumeirah area but still scared about SZR. It's getting the wrong turn off's I worry about and then ending up goodness knows where. Even with DH driving at the beginning, we had been heading to MOE, missed the turn off and practically ended up on the Palm! We have bought the garmen sat nav which is good and at least you have something to direct you back. I built up the courage to go to a birthday party which meant going on SZR the other week at rush hour and I managed it, I was all proud of myself when I got home! good luck, start with the small journey's for a while and then just take it slowly.x

I was speaking to my daughter's nursery teacher about it who has lived here for a long time. She was saying that once a year you get little tremors here but mostly concentrated on one single line running near SZR so some people hear nothing at all. Thinking that's what it was now.
