It's so unfair! Makes you wonder what health insurance is for.

Just re-read my msg and shouldn't have said 'nothing but misery' because I have 2 beautiful children! Despite everything I'm very blessed to have them! :-)

Hi, I had the methotrexate injection last summer for a suspected ectopic. I needed 2 injections a week apart. It worked, so luckily didn't need surgery. It was a horrible time and I was at home for the summer without my husband when I found out. I was told to wait 3mths before trying for another baby, but then had an abnormal smear and treatment for that soon after, so haven't plucked up the courage to try yet. I have also had 5mcs so I know how you are feeling. I had 2 mcs, then 2 children, and then 3 mcs and then an ectopic. So nothing but misery. My first 2 mcs hit me the hardest, but I'm numb to it all now. It'll prob hit me eventually. Yeh, Dr. Koster has good reviews on this forum, so you could see her just for your own piece of mind. Take Care! PS, there is a very good irish website called 'Rollercoaster' where there is a forum about pregnancy loss. You would find lots of girls there who've been through the same as you. I found it great when I was feeling really low.

Thanks for the advice about the Goverment hospitals, think I'll stay away from them. I'm not sure what to do about the colposcopy, but it is really important for me to do these follow ups because I had to have cancerous cells removed late last yr. Luckily they were 'in situ' and weren't invasive 'yet'. All my previous smears were normal, so I need a colposcopy as a secondary check. I will have one done back in N. Ireland in the summer (for free), but feel I should be having one sooner than that as some Gynaes say you should have a checkup every 3-4mths, instead of the 6mths back in the UK and Ireland. I will ring Dubai London clinic now to see how much they charge for a colposcopy, because I've just noticed my insurance covers that clinic. Thanks!

Yeh, I know Chocs! And apparently 80% of the population have this virus, and you don't have to have intercourse to contract it. It's very annoying.

Thanks for your repiles! Kelly, I think I'll check out Bupa. I was with them before when I was living at home, but stopped when I left. Is it worldwide Bupa? Purple,is there anything I need, other than my ID, to use the government hospitals? Do you know if they are any good? Would I need a doctor to refer me? Captain America, I thought that if you had abnormal cells you must have the HP virus.......would be great if it came back neg.

Hi, I had lletz under GA last oct in Emirates Hospital and it cost about 15K dirhams. That included everything, the pre and post surgery consultation and perscription as well. I had to pay and then claim. Our insurance is ADNIC and luckily we got 80% back after having to wait a few mths. I would say that the GA prob puts the cost up a lot though, but it was essential for me as the bad cells were further up (glandular).

Thanks so much for all your replies! I've made an appt with Dr. Ibrahim at the City Hospital as he has very good reviews, and is covered on my insurance. I would like to go to some of the Gynaes that you recommended, but I would have to pay and claim. My insurance company said they can't quarantee they will pay it back, and it could be a very heafty bill.

Hi Sarah Louise, I have the same dilema! I'm a chiropodist/podiatrist and have just moved here a few mths ago with my husband and 2 young kids. I would like to work part-time (when the kids are in school), and want to bring the kids home for at least a mth during the summer to see their grandparents and escape the strong heat. I'm worried that no one would allow me to do that....I was self employed for 15 years at home so have gotten used to doing my own hours. Maybe you could take unpaid leave during the summer....and maybe the employer wouldn't mind as things could be quiet anyway during the summer. I'm hesitating in looking for employment and thinking of putting it off til Aug/sept because of this....Maybe someone else would know more.

Hi Tracey, I think you're doing the right thing having your check-up in the uk, esp as that's were all your previous records are. I was told by a Gynae here that the histopathology is more precise in the UK, so that says it all. I'm definitely going to keep having my checkups at home as I trust them more, but would like to have an extra one in between when i'm in Dubai.

Thanks for all the replies! I will check out them out. Tracey, I'm sorry you have the same worries as me.....no probs about asking the same question. If my post can help anyone else too I'd be delighted. It's hard having this worry when you're away from home. My 6mth check-up will be due in May too because I had a cone biopsy done at the end of Nov '11 at home. My Gynae said it would be ok to leave it til June as I'm going home then anyway for a while. But because it was the glandular cells that were affected with me, and it's harder to pick up abnormalities as these cells are further up the cervix, I would prefer to have more regular smears meaning I need to find someone in Dubai that I can trust too. I would PM you if I knew how....

Thanks for your reply! I rang them yest and unfortunately they only do FS1 and not FS2 which is what I need. The lady on the phone was lovely and said she'd ring around for me. If no joy, I don't know what I'll do.

I'm open to living in Abu Dhabi if it's not too expensive. We just don't want to spending all our money on rent. Do you know what areas are cheaper? I think the school places are hard to find there as well though. I rang a couple already....the pearl was one. Would prefer if my hubby didn't have to travel back and forth from Dubai. edited by spudz on 02/06/2011
