If you go to a reputable hairdresser they will be able to oxidize the brown out without bleaching. It takes a while but is very gentle. Do not let them do a keratin treatment or a biolustre treatment before as that locks the colour in and then you will have to bleach. Newly applied colour is easier to oxidize than colour that has been there for a few weeks. Then depending on the final look you want you can either have balayage blonde tones or a combination of high lites and low lites. edited by starsouthern on 20/04/2014

My friends took their landlord to court because they were given their 12 months notice in May 2013 but contract was ending in Nov 2013. Court ruled they have until May 2014 to live in the house. They said the 12 months doesn't need to be from the strat or end of contract it can start from when letter was received and signed for. edited by starsouthern on 17/04/2014

When I had my second baby I went through terrible post natal depression. It was actually my GP at the time Dr Carol Smiley who picked it up. She immediately put me on medication and referred me to a councillor. Dr Carol I believe is now at the Health Bay Clinic on Al Wasl Rd. edited by starsouthern on 17/04/2014

I've just seen it on FB where the person who posted it said it wasn't official notice from the school. It was something posted by a parent on the school parent's group page/FB. The information in the post is incorrect, in my opinion posts like that are dangerous.

Hi Ladies, Congratulations to you all. Just found out that we're having baby number 4! Huge surprise is an understatement! Still getting used to the idea of having 4. I have boy, girl, boy. When pregnant with the boys I didn't get any sickness at all and craved really fresh healthy foods and was starving all the time. When pregnant with my daughter I was sick for the whole nine months and only wanted greasy fried food. This time I have a combination of both symptoms so who knows what's happening ;) Am extremely tired and already clothes are starting to not fit. Going for our scan tomorrow. Anama20 I had baby number 3 at Medcare, the care was fantastic. All the Drs and nurses were lovely.

As Sarahlou says it's pretty tough out here to find jobs for ex military. My friend's husband took 2 years to get something with a private security firm out here this was with him already having plenty of contacts. He spends 3-4 months at time in places such as Afghanistan or Iraq etc few days back then out again. They're going back to the UK next month as can't deal with the separation etc.

My friend's son started in Y3 at DESS this year too, he initially found it hard because he was trying to get in with a group of boys who he thought were cool, but they were excluding him. He then made friends with one or two boys outside of this group and has been happy since. The cool boys saw that he wasn't desperate to join their group so have started asking him to play and now he's happy to join in or say thanks not today :) Politics with kids can be hard, my son's best friend left Dubai half way through year 4 and he found it difficult. It was actually his teacher at DESS who said to me I know he's finding it hard with X gone but he gets on well with Y during lessons and although they are very different they seem to have a lot in common. So I organised a few play dates etc with Y outside of school which helped him find his feet again. Maybe ask her teacher if there is someone in particular that she gets on with during lessons and try and cultivate that friendship.

I went to a gastro dr who told me that the food intolerance diet is a gimmick because your body is designed to become intolerant to feed you eat regularly. He said that all peopke are intolerant to about 6 things at one time and that if he tested blood drawn at different times of tge day you would get different results. He said to avoid becoming intolerant you should not eat the same thing in a space of 48hrs, you should always eat different things everyday. He did say pasta even whoke grain, white flour and rice white/brown are really bad for you and you should only eat bananas every 10-15 days. He said no fat at all. No low fat or processed food and max 250ml of dairy a day of that 150 can be milk the rest yoghurt and a small amount of cheese. edited by starsouthern on 11/02/2014

At the JESS AR fair just before Christmas there were two ladies selling handmade organic bum cream, cradle cap oil, bath pillows, massage oils and room spray. Bought some as gifts for friends and they loved it. It was called Hushhh. They did say they will be at ARTE this year as they were new. Will see if I can find their contact details.

All nursery teachers I know earn between 7k-10k are on local contracts, with no benifits, however some receive a discount for their child to attend the nursery. The teachers they work with who were brought in from overseas get the same salary but some get housing and tickets others don't, they are all young and single but fully qualified. edited by starsouthern on 06/02/2014

[u'>Investigations reveal ‘no incident’ of kidnapping attempt at Mall of Emirates[/u'> [i'>The statement described a case of a misunderstanding that was brought on with a “distressed” child that was assisted by a couple in locating its parent. It continued: “The facts of the matter are that a man and a woman stopped to assist a clearly distressed child that they believed had become lost in the mall. “The couple attempted to help the child find its parent(s) and fortunately within moments they found the mother of the child close by and the situation had resolved itself very quickly.”[/i'> http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/investigations-reveal-no-incident-of-kidnapping-attempt-at-mall-of-emirates-2014-01-23-1.535843 This is a similar response to all these warnings that schools have been sending out over the last few years. Oh the child misunderstood or was confused. Just make sure you teach your children about stranger danger and are careful.

Kings. JPS is crowded, the classes are too big. the playground for the older children is hideous with no shade at all. playtimes are chaotic. the teaching quality is variable. However...with one disclaimer. If you need a secondary spot it gives you pretty much a guaranteed spot at JC. Whereas Kings only has a new secondary school that is just a startup. If I had a FS1 kid - Kings. But if I was looking at year 5 - JPS for the spot at JC.... I would double check the spot at JC I think that it recently may have changed.

Thanks for the advice will look in to them. I will not drive the car in the actual dessert. I have a pajero and hate it. It chugs up petrol, it has no pick up and the interior is cheap even though we bought top of the range and the servicing isexpensive compared toToyota /Ford. Ford have a second hand dealership attached to the main one where they dopretty good service and insurance packages.

We're looking at a Lego Technic set. It's AED 1629 (US$ 443). On Amazon.com it costs $294 and would cost $ 53 to ship with Shop & Ship, so nearly $100 saving. On Lego.com it's $220 (but they won't ship to box numbers which rules out S&S) or internationally. If you put the street address in address line 1 and the po box in address line 2 they recognise it as a street address not a po box. I get sets shipped out from lego.com all the time to my s&s US account. I've bought sets for $39.99 not on sale that retail here for dhs 750! edited by starsouthern on 29/12/2013

I would also double check with DED if this really is a new regulation, sometimes in my experience business centers out here have a way of not telling the full story so they can increase rents, service fees etc. I had one business centre tell me I had to pay a dhs 5000 new DED service fee, I checked with the DED and that fee didn't exist.

The 5% threshhold no longer exists. But if you check the Rent Increase Calculator, it will tell you specifically what he can raise it by (if he can indeed raise it). It does in Dubai doesn't it? I thought it was Abu Dhabi that abolished the rent cap. There is no 5% threshold in Dubai it all goes by the rental calculator. When you renew your contract if the rental calculator says there is a 20% increase no matter how long you've been in the property the LL can ask for the 20% increase. As the rental calculator only works in the month we are in the LL has to notify you 90 days prior to renewing that they have the intention to increase your rent on renewal as per rental calculator. The LL does not need to specify an amount or percentage 90 days prior to renewal on the fact that they plan to increase as per calculator.

This is important, so I will put it in bold - [b'>non-renewable contracts are NOT legal in Dubai and the Rent Committee does not recognise them.[/b'> In fact, I will say it one more time, because the message doesn't seem to be getting across - [b'>non-renewable contracts are NOT legal in Dubai and the Rent Committee does not recognise them.[/b'> If a LL wishes to evict you, s/he CANNOT do it by means of a non-renewable contract. There are four (not three) specific reasons for eviction, and they must provide you with 12 months' notice from the end of your current contract, stating the reason that applies in your case. Sorry have to disagree, the rent committee gave me two options when I took my LL to them Option 1: Pay same rent as current contract, LL gives us a Non-renewable contract and we move out in 12 months. Option 2: Pay 10% Rent increase this year but be allowed to stay for one more contract where the rent could be increased as per rental calculator and it be a non renewable contract. The LL was told by the rent committee that they can issue us with the non renewable contract without stating one of the 4 reasons and we would have to move out.
