We have property in Al Hamra for the last 3 years, and services and water have been great. Peaceful, cooler and much friendlier than Dubai. We have it rented and tenant has no complaints. Would live there if we could but work issues prevent it. It will never be the size of Dubai. The RAK free zone is gradually plugging along, slowly increasing the number of businesses etc. If you are looking for long term investment then you probably are ok, short term- then I would try to get my money out. Having said that, clause or no clause, in the ME, I doubt you will get out of this one.

That's what great about this show, totally shows everyone's differences in musical tastes! I am glad James is out, too hot and cold. Funnily enough, every non-heavy metal /screaming rock song he did was great- his voice is great for the slow stuff, terrible for the loud stuff. If he had of picked a different genre he might have done much better. Hayley has serious attitude and would be very hard to manage as a star. She is very hot and cold and I agree with Randy, her first song was just basically screaming. She needs to go. Love Scotty and Lauren. I dont like country, but Scotty may convert me. Lauren looked awesome with straightened hair. If you listen to her on itunes, she clearly has the purest voice of them all. She has matured a lot over the season and has huge potential. esp as she is only a teenager. I want her to win. Scotty is guaranteed a Country recording contract so he is sorted already.

Bianca 72 is referring to Bliss Relaxology on al wasl road 349 3490- their brochure was dropped off on my front gate. open 9-midnight. They do home massage too. 7 days a week. According to the brochure they do traditional thai massage, aromatherapy massage, herbal steam tents, body scrubs, foot reflexology, specific massage (ie shoulder, back etc). Havent tried them as I too hate Thai massage. but I think this is what the OP is looking for. The brochure was actually 50 % off until June 30th..

Thanks all for the advice, I am going to take a number of ideas to heart. I am not ready to do the bribe thing yet though. We will see. Behavior and respect is more important to me than grades, so as long as we maintain that, the grades will come I think. Sugarbeach, I have thought about this too, but I remember being 12 well , and the bottom line is when I was a kid we NEVER had the volume or complexity of homework kids do now.So you could be a kid, and also do your homework (by in large by yourself) , and go out and play after because it was taught well but more importantly the material and volume was AGE APPROPRIATE. The topics and volume my kids get often astounds me, I am absolutely sure it was different when we were kids. In fact I still have (sad I know) some of the written projects, stories, etc from when I was a kid; totally different level. I am not sure what the schools are trying to acheive pushing kids so hard at an early age, in the end, does it really matter when they are adults?

Thanks all, glad to hear I am not alone!! calmed down now...went for a walk. Maybe he does resent it, I dont know. The thing is, he wont even let me explain the concepts to him, he just gives attitude - I guess if I was ANYONE else he would be fine. I do remember giving my mom serious attitude when she tried to teach me tennis, then I was sweet as pie to my tennis instructor.. Maths is the big issue, and apparently a lot of kids have tutors in this class so clearly this particular teacher isn't doing her job. I am willing to teach him as I am good with maths, but maybe some kids just hate their parents teaching them anything? Does anyone do homework with their 12 year old and all goes fine?- anyway, maybe I should do the tutor thing if most of you have had positive experiences.

oh no, he has been smacked on the bum when he was smaller for sure. No I mean, baseball across the head because I want to kill you kind of smack. That is why I walked away. Boarding school is a cop-out if it is only for the reason of not being able to discipline. so , tell him no longer will i help with homework, reduce stress and if he bombs school, his problem, or continue to help with homework but make the rest of his life like military school?

at the risk of being shot, I am glad Paul is gone. Although he has one of the best personalities, stage presence and smile (and just seems to be a nice all round guy)- his voice is squeaky, lacks volume and he has no range.I cant imagine listening to a whole album of that. Jacob was awesome this week and I see they have told him to tone down his theatrics (thankfully). I agree, Lauren has the best voice (now that Pia is gone). It is a shocker Pia is gone, her voice just blew away everyone else- I agree her stage presence was terrible- but I think you can teach someone that. Why Stefano is still there is beyond me- and why the judges love him?- I dont get it! Scotty is amazing, I think he is guaranteed a country career already so doesnt need to win now as he will be scooped up by a recording company anyway. I still giggle seeing that voice come out of that little boy face. So much talent this year it is insane! Casey- I dont get why everyone loves him- my husband and I keep adjusting our audio settings on the t.v as we figure we are missing something. His voice is average and facial expressions sooooo irritating- but at least he is willing to take chances and try different things I suppose.

I generally give locals respect. I let them ahead of me at a door, at the bank etc. I get the odd snooty woman that will not acknowledge me or will give me a distasteful look, but most smile and often will motion me ahead of them. The way I look at it is , it is their country and they are overrun by foreigners. Yes the gov't brought this on themselves, in the name of growth, but I suspect not everyone wanted it. Imagine walking down the street of your hometown and 99 percent of the people you met were foreigners, not planning on staying, but there for a short time. Instead of being able to drive a few minutes to see your friend, you get stuck in endless hours of traffic. Yes there are plenty that hate us, so why not make an effort to correct it? If they are snooty, or cut me off etc, I don't take it personally anymore. Life is too short to get stressed by rude behavior in this place. Unfortunately you will see it every single day in Dubai, from every nationality. It can eat you up. Having said that all, if I am PMS'ing,,,, well that is a different story!

I think it is usually about 5500 each year we renew our maids visa. If we were to bring a new maid over , would it be the same or more? thanks in advance.

wow, I was thinking last night I would like to go to Colorado this summer and then saw this thread. We have older kids... would like to do lots of single track mountain biking, and maybe some white water rafting- any suggestions?
