Thank you SueB! Hate these kind of threads! edited by ayaana on 07/08/2012 Harsh lessons perhaps but could prove to be effective way to learn for some adults! There are certainly better ways to learn other than being ridiculed for your spelling than on a woman s forum :) Certainly much better ways to get a point across.

Good explanations to help the OP understand. I didn't think she was being morally superior just as those who called her morally superior would be judged a bit defensive ;) All technology is good. Good to learn, interact and understand. If it is used as a learning tool and not as something to replace interaction as T.V. has in the past, it is not a problem. you can still read to your child, play games, teach them alot of things that an ipad will never be able to do :)...so, take the best of both worlds and use both wisely. Just my thoughts.

Does it not make you feel so superior to ridicule others in the way they speak and spell English :)..it amazes me how those who do not speak the 'proper' Queens English have managed all these years to actually make themselves understood. May I suggest, that you become conversant in other cultures way of expressing themselves and be able to overlook their transgressions in their handling of the English language :) BuckeyeD you are right, it is also used in Canadian English. I would not know how else to ask someone to 'stand in line'...would that be 'stand on the line' or wait, Queue. So, there you have it :)....lots of nationalities speaking English in different ways. My huge pet peeve is once again, another thread that rants about the way people spell and say things. Talk directly to the person who is bugging you!!! directly!!! say something to their face!!! Ridiculing people on here is just a personal ego boost. My personal rant is over.

You're right. I guess I'm a bit afraid of the answer bec I don't want to lose her in case it really turns out to be a scam-attempt. Was thinking of simply ignoring it without giving her money or mentioning it again. honestly? you didn't want to ask her about the pictures because you were afraid of losing her? ignoring it and never mentioning it again? really???? seriously???

If you are American, chances are you will write Check If you are British or brought up in the British system (ie Canada) you will write Cheque both are right.

it would be a shame to spend all that money if you will never use it again. Most makeup expires after 6 months. Why not go to the Mac shop or Bobby Brown(hear Lamcy is a good store for Bobby Brown) and set an appt before the wedding. Tell them you want to look very natural, looking great without applying the makeup with a trowel. Also ask them not to give you Arabic makeup as that application is usually very heavy. Then you can tweek the makeup and arrange to have it done again on the day :)

Hi Sugarbeach...this link might help. My problem was Rotator cuff with one and the other is a spur I had developed between the bones. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00327 I would go directly to an Ortho. I had Dr. Chris Whatley at Medcare (canadian) think he is pretty good :)

certainly go to your doctor and have him send you to physio or for a further exam with an orthopedic dr. I do not know how old you are but Dr.'s are finding that woman who are in perimenopause, menopause tend to have shoulder problems which include frozen shoulder. Not saying this is yours but, you shoulder is still and you need to work and stretch those muscles and ligements. I had major shoulder problems for nearly 2 years, refused surgery and went to physio, worked hard, did pilates and I am fine....It could be part of aging and you could have injured it years ago and only now starting to bother you. My suggestion is also go to beginners yoga and/or pilates and learn to know your body :)

I realized that I need to try Rossovivo after reading this thread. I’m sure I read about this restaurant somewhere recently and they had the most authentic pizzas like in Naples. We had Rossovivo last night. Very impressed and so fresh. The dough was made there, not shipped in frozen. All the ingredients were fresh and light. We stopped ordering pizza here as our fav Pizza Hut just didnt live up to it here...the others we tried were worse, heavy, greasy and tough crust...so...it will be Rossovivo for us from here on in :) An experience from Italy :)

My son had them done at about 3 because of recurrent ear infections. He had no problem with them and they come out naturally but the bonus was no more infections hence , no more amoxillan which ruined his teeth :(. If your Doctor feels it is necessary, then do it. the procedure now adays is very short :)

the ladies are right. Now is not the time to try and find homes for your cats. The organizations that have Open Days which now are full of kittens are even having a hard time. Best to wait until the fall when people come back and might be more receptive to having 2 lovlies added to their family. You can feed them and talk to them .....give them a pet now and then and you will find that once all the hoopla dies down and you get into a routine with your baby etc, that you will most likely be glad you did not give up your beloved cats ;).....I brought up baby with 3....the 1st one died at 15 years old when my son 12....he loved those cats like sisters as they were always in his life...the cats got through the first months of his birth just fine :)....so, hold back until people come back....so you can make sure you get the purfect home or decide they are fine after all :)....

At the end of the day, let's not be too sanctimonious, it could happen to you, never ever say never.. As some said, we are all human and it is a terrible tragedy for this to happen to any child, but it happens. Absentmindedness, stress, one parent thinking the other has the child and the list could go on and on. It does not make it right but it also does not mean the parent is a horrible person. It has never happened to me but I feel for those who it has happened to :( It is not always neglect :( As for the mum who puts the child into the car first. I always did as well. I was always afraid the stroller would roll into the lot when my back was turned, or the car beside run over him not knowing he was in the stroller so no thanks. Child in car first with car door open and him securly in the seat. The stroller was the last thing to be loaded and first thing out...then child. Home was safe, no other cars etc ....took him into the house, left him in the front hall while doing the rest of groceries. No problem. Never forgot him :)...and btw. I always unpack groceries first thing so I am sure there would be lots in the grocery bag to remind me he needed tending :)

How unfortunate that your mother has not been able to connect with you. She is the one that has lost out on a devoted daughter and a good friend to have, especially in old age. She sounds like she has always been bitter inside and uncaring about alot more than yourself. Personally I would just say that Aunt Ethel said ÿou did not care if I was part of your life" and mum, if you feel that way then as hurtful as that is, I will live through it but how sorry I am that you have chosen this path, we could have been good friends. " Call her now and then. You will not change how she is and you can ask her if she loves you, but....prepare yourself for an answer you dont like :( just in case. You will always have the sadness about your mother, but please do not beat yourself up about it and let it interfere with your family. I doubt she is letting it interfer with her life, try and let it go to some extent if you can.

Just a second, hang on lol....a more reliable picture of what 'mums' are wearing???? erm....maybe it should be a more reliable picture of what is expected to be worn here in a muslim country :)....I have seen some Mums wearing things that should not be worn anywhere other than the beach :)....so...it is up to impretations. To the knees and sleeves..not hard to figure out :)...anything else, wear at home or parties :).......not on the street. And, who said it should be comfortable lol...it iswhat is expected in this country :)...skirts are actually pretty cool and much cooler than shorts :) and I mean airy, not 'cool' lol

Hun, it looks like you are having trouble deciding whether to stay home or not. I feel...and only my feeling here is this: learn to drive...no reason you cannot drive and expand your horizons so you can live farther from the city center. You surely can give up 2 years of your working life to be with your child. You can do online course to keep up if that is a concern or try and find somewhere you can work 1/2 time or timeshare. You have chosen to have a child. so if it is such a worry and is causing so many problems, maybe you need to stay home. Unless your husband can quit his job and he stays home and be a fulltime parent? There are always solutions. Do a plan...pros and cons...debits and credits. I am sure your child would be happy with either parent home or just someone to love him :)...so, stop overthinking and start working toward what you actually want to happen :)

shorts to the knee if you are going to wear them. Cover shoulders. You can wear whatever at home. The problem here is that shorts to one person can be skin tight short shorts which are not acceptable...or shorts that are just too short. So, to the knees (Bermudas). You can pick up pashminas here cheap and leave them in the car if you are heading out in a cami....and going into a mall, grocery etc.

Oh thank you Glengarioch, DH has just come back, without kitty. He's given it some food as its at Battuta Mall and we might go back there later this eve to see if it's still there....we aren't set up for a cat at all here so I'm not even sure how we'd transport it. It might not like being put in the car...We are in an apartment too so it would have to stay indoors... Anyway, we'll see. It ate the food up apparently! You can transport it in a box with a good lid :)..put the box on your lap to make sure he cannot escape. Being indoors will most likely not be a problem once he realizes his food is inside and he is not hungary or thirsty anymore. No, it will not like the car but in the box and you talking he will be fine. Get a litter box and put it in a bathroom with the food and water and put towels in the box ....he will be fine. he will get used to the new sounds :)....leave him there for a few days and you and your husband go in and out to talk to him and pet him :) get wet and dry cat food. good luck.

There is a tabby cat in the basement car park of X1 Towers in JLT. She crouches near the entrance door all day. As soon as she sees someone approach she starts mewling and crying and screaming and runs helter skelter. I have no idea about cats but it doesnt seem like normal behavior. Are there are cat friends who would like to help her out? I know zilch about cats so not able to do anything. Is it possible she has a litter of kittens and is starving? Can you bring her a big bowl of water and some dry food until someone can help. See if she wants you to follow her. Do you have a friend who can catch her or borrow a cage?

Lol SueB, I get soooo jumpy when the people next to me are using their phones and we're about to take off. That announcement goes that all phones have to be switched off and it's like it doesnt even register with some people. I have a real phobia about flying and would just happily cheer if airline staff removed stroppy phone using people or their gadgets. sufice it to say, we all cheered and then someone said "gosh, maybe we should have taken a video" then someone else yelled "duh, we all had our phones turned off lol""good Canadians that we are!!!! edited by SueB on 05/07/2012

I only wish Emirates could be a bit more proactive. On one of my flights in Canada, a woman was asked to turn of her phone and remove the ear plug. She refused. Said the guy next to her didnt have to and it waspointed out to her that his ear was plugged into the planes entertainment system. Nope, she still refused. We were already late, plane was packed. Next thing you hear, is her being removed from the plane. She made a huge stink so the RCMP were brought in to remove her. Yup, because she refused to turn off her phone. Poor Gals and guys on Emirates would probably spend some time trying nicely to get her to turn off the phone and unplug the earbuds. Doubt she would have been turfed off. So, if you fly airlines in Canada, mind your P's and Q's, we dont take any **** lol....and if you become very rude and demanding, they ignore you...totally!!! thought I would just toss that tidbit in here :)

and I detest EK Cabin Crew, but what to do? They fly to where I need to go. Harsh! Not! DS was shouted at by the cabin crew in 1st class (16 hr flight) for asking for another drink, she told him that he had his own private selection of drinks in his suite and should not ring for her…..H E L L O? Well, your DS did have 5 or 6 drinks in his private selection. It is usually what is on board. Or, did he want something different? I would be surprised that a 1st class CC would 'shout' if so, you should have reported it.

Thanks again Sue - it is a side incision, although kittens are not really nursing much now. All seems OK this morning the bleeding had stopped and she's leaving it alone, so hopefully I won't need to do the t shirt adaptation! Mind you she spent the night calling for her kittens so we didn't get much sleep! Sounds like all is well then. No bleeding :). just keep an eye on it to make sure it does not get infected. The kittens most likely will be turned off the milk because of the new taste from the anesthesia :).....she will be fine tonight. Glad to hear it is the flank incision :) no jacket required.
