Has Scruffy found a new home yet? I wish I could help, but I live in Oman. Of course, if someone were to be coming to Oman in the near future, perhaps something could be arranged? regards Katrina (who is missing her furry friends) I could ask :) give a day lol...are you serious though?

it is great that you are trying to find a solution for this cat. This is kitten season right now and they are falling from the sky looking for families. Is there anyone else in your neighbourhood that will take the cat on? can you put up posters in the area? if all else fails, you could just leave her to look for another family. I am wondering though if she has been checked for a microchip and has been spayed? Is it possible that this girl could be lost? at the end of the day it is of course your decision but personally, I could not just leave her to get on with it after having regular meals and a sort of home. I might make the ver very hard decision to put her to sleep, but, then I do not know your cat but I might rather take the second option rather than have her starve. Just my opinion

has anyone been feeding this unwanted cat? may I be so bold to ask what type of cat you would like to have? Cats are after all, domesticated animals and will catch birds, rats, mice gerbils etc because they move :) edited by SueB on 05/04/2012

get a largish box or borrow a kennel from a friend. with the box turn it upside down and cut a hole in the middle so the mother can get in comfortably. Under the box put a large tray or layers of cardboard that sits on the floor and put the box on it. Put in some newspaper then old towels or clean rags on top so it is soft. Put all this in a protected spot in the garage, off the floor would be best if possible but if not the floor will have to do. Get some wet kitten food for the mother and dry food. Kitten food is good as it is high in fat and nutrients as she is nursing. Do not give her milk. Give her water. Put this food by the opening of the box. Hopefully the mother will move the babies into the box. That is the goal. Do not try and touch mom right now :). Your ultimate goal if you want to eventually find homes for the babies is get them into a spare room or large bathroom in your house. That way it will be easier to socialize them and hopefully the mother as well. dont worry too much though if you cannot get them in, possibly getting them into the garden is good, away from the garage. So, thats a goal for now :) see how that goes.

with daily practise you will gain more confidence :).....you also must remember though, unless you have a big L on your car for learner, those of us behind yu do not know you have just been let out on the road with a shiney new drivers license :)...so go with the flow of traffic because it is safer, merge with the flow not stop and wait as that will surely cause an accident :)...we see you trying to merge and most of use will juggle to let you in :)....have a good time, breath and you will get there :)

I'm a Canadian married to a South African and we've just applied for his Canadian Residency and have been told it could take up to two years to process! I'm just wondering if anyone else has applied for residency from here via the Family Class - Spousal Sponsorship and if it has been processed any faster. Two years seems SO unreasonable given that most of the other countries you can apply from are processing applications within 6 months. The immigration lawyer explained that it is partly a "regional" issue (meaning staff make the delays) and also partly due to the amount of forgeries and false paperwork that gets submitted so the security checks from here are more thorough. I find that hard to believe given that places like Delhi are processing applications within 6 months and they also have a lot of fradulant documentation being produced, however I'll bet their staff are harder working therefore getting those applications through faster. Argh. Well, it really does not matter what other countries are doing as it will not help process your husbands residency any faster :). My brother married a polish gal and had to wait 6 months for her to join him but...he married in Poland and came back to Canada with visits to Poland. She did not get her final residency though for 2 years but was able to join him after 6 months. I imagine that could be the reason. So, 2 years is about the norm for residency but if you were in Canada he could join you after 6 months....could have changed though.

The vets have some things that might work for urine. Because grout is so porous you might have to bite the bullet and have it replaced :(. You could also hire a professional cleaning company who deep clean tiles and grout with machines then polish. The tiles and grout look great after and I imagine it skims some tiles off the top. Also check the walls, if there were that many cats (OMG) then for sure, there was marking on the walls and you might have it repainted but with a odor barrier coat underneath. Good luck...hopefully the landlord will help pay for all this. would love to know what happened to the 100 cats!!!!!!

One has been sitting in a vet kennel for 3 months, beautiful and the other was found a the metrostation with a broken leg, who had given birth to still born kittens :(...the are both desperate :( I think a foster home would work especially for the one at the vets :(

I honestly do not believe this thread!....you do not run on the road. You run on the sidewalk or run in a place that is safe. You do not endanger yourself or drivers on 'their'road. Safa Park and Zabeel Park both have wonderful padded runways where the impact is much less than on roads. At the end of the day, if you want to run on the road, run on the road. If you want people to swerve around you so you can run on the road so be it. If you want the cyclists to swerve around you and hopefully not hit cars so be it. But you want to run on the road and want someone, anyone to agree with you and come to your defenc e. Welll...apparently that is not happening, at least not here. So, the bottom line is that you dont want anyone telling you not to run on the road because is is dangereous. So, get off this forum and find a forum that will agree with you because apparently you dont want to hear anyones opinion, only those that say it is ok to run on the road? Take offence somewhere else because honestly, if you were mine, I would tell you to get the h*** off the road. edited by SueB on 27/03/2012

Look. The posts are not harsh. The posts deal with reality, whether it be maids or Managers or whatever. You work for your holidays period. Just because they are household help does not mean that we should give them leaniency. If there is a death in the family that i a different story but it will still hold true that the company will give the person what they are entitled too and not more. The companies expect the employee to pay their way be it accommodation, holidays, going home etc. No one is being harsh if they give holidays 5 month before the holidays are due and why the heck should the employee expect to also get their holiday pay 5 months before it is also due. Get a grip people. Are you running a household/business or a charity!!!!!!

This is a different thing as those children who have been thumb suckers :).....I would say something else is happening in his little life that he has started sucking his thumb. You might want to see what that might be :) They usually suck their thumbs for comfort so it could be separating from yu :)....have a few chats with him before you decide on the archaic painting of thumbs with awful nasty stustances lol....sounds to me like the little kiddo is just having aproblem getting over the next transition :)

ok. you cannot sterilize a cat until the heat is over. You should have taken the said cat to be sterilized way before this but yo didmt. As soon as the inflamation has reduced and the heat is over get the cat sterilized! You will just have to live with it until is it done.

It has all been said here already but, if you cannot run in the sun because of a disease then are you already wearing sun protection runners clothes that cover you from neck to ankles, including arms, and a very wide brimmed running cap with flap on 3 sides, zinc oxide on your face and hands, as that should be the only exposed part of the body. I am also assuming here that you are running very early in the morning while the sun is light or late in the evening before the sun goes down? Are you also wearing runners for pavement and not for treadmill? I have to assume here that you are doing all these things considering the problems you have. If so, there is no reason to run on the road and have cars swerve around you as well as bikes swerving into cars to avoid smashing into you and then being flung into the road to be hit by a car. I would probably say that the answer to your question has been answered many times and the answer is NO. Not safe for you or the driver. The pedestrian is for sidewalks, the cars are for roads, not runners unless you are in a marathon, then there would not be cars on the road anyway lol.......find a safer place to run.

Whatever you do, do not feel guilty! She has been given the gift of being allowed to have her vacation 5 months early before completing the required 12 months before her entitled vacation. I doubt I would have given the vacation considering that summer is coming but then you might not be going home or have animals etc. Anyway, you can explain to her that she can have her months vacation pay after she returns and that is that or, she can wait until the 12 months are up and have it then. edited by SueB on 25/03/2012

just to throw in another thought here. Irooni you said you let her go before her time was up in Dubai so the kids did not feel she was ripped (my words) from them and you wanted her near by but not have to go through the emotional ending. Is it possible that she did not want to leave your family and start all over again with another. Could she have been upset thinking you did not want her anymore and used the kids as an excuse? So you bent over backwards for her and she didnt even say goodbye, well I would think that something else was happening and possibly she could not say goodbye and is staying away because it is too painful for her to see the children. Maybe look at it from her point of view .......I am wondering if you are more upset because you bent over backwards for her and gave her all these things that you felt she owed??? anyway, not judging but trying to look at the flip side. If I worked for someone in their home for 5.5 years and they said they didnt want me for my last 2 years I might also be upset since she was pretty much there for the growth of the kids and I would assume felt something for them? Go and speak with her, not bringing up any material things she received but asking if she is alright and was she upset about how it all transpired? If she is not botherd then leave it :)

if you are newly married, he will not be too impressed with you sleeping in the spare room. Give him a choice. Try and make the effort to fix the snoring or not sleep with his wife and all the goodies that come with sharing a bed. BTW I certainly dont mean withold the goodies lool.it is just that they are much more available when 2 share a bed rather than one trudging across to the spare room to procure the 'goodies'lol

I think the 'hysterical' was because the poster said she had 'never smoked in her life' but knows it is better than any other method. Sort of like a person without ever having children, giving advice on how to raise your children. Anyway, no debate just a thought.

It is still a good thread and no one is coming down on Anna but we have opinions just the same about spanking. Anna herself was in tear over it so obviously it upset her that she had gotten to the point of spanking her child who in tears, related what they had shared about Russel Peters. Anyway, as all of you do say, this is an open forum and if you are going to fly with the geese then if you dish it, you take it. We are talking about how we feel about spanking, period. Not saying Anna is not a good parent so lets not read anything into our opinions that are not there ok?

I feel that if the situation has gotten so out of hand and that the child needs to be spanked then some serious thinking is in order. You don't usually spank a child with a smile on your face and when it is done it is anger and/or frustration. There are other ways, hitting is not it :(

a message of condolence you send if someone has died. It does not sound from your post that someone has died. I get the message that you want to send a note to get your concern across, that everyone in Syria is alright and that you are thinking of them? is that correct? if this is correct, please send the note hoping they are alright and you are thinking of them :)....don''t even consider getting a reply, but, if you get a nice one, wonderful, if not, don't worry about it. Send without expecting anything in return :) btw, whether you are a 'believer' or not, you send from the heart, not because you are one or the other but because you want to do it. edited by SueB on 18/03/2012

the dog got frightened by fireworks and ran away? did she not have her leash on and was her collar not tight enough to keep from going over her ears? Check that the dogs collar cannot be pulled over their ears. Most people think that a loose collar is more comfortable but hey, a collar that is loose enough to go over the ears so they can slip the collar is too loose! Check the collars. edited by SueB on 14/03/2012
