js, maybe you need to back away for a bit of distance from your girl? your stress might be causing her stress? if you are keeping after her all the time she is not getting rest so let her be for tonight, let her sleep alone and see how she is tomorrow. I am thinking it has nothing to do with another cat but maybe, just maybe an overzealous mother? :):) ps: most cats like to hide when they dont feel well. Mine finds a closet a good place to sleep :) <em>edited by SueB on 05/12/2011</em>

I doubt the kittens have been exposed to dogs so it would be a learning experience :) patience and done the right way should produce loving or tolerant kitties and dogs lol... Thanks Debc....hopefully you will find them gone but....I doubt it..so keep checking. I will do my best to keep this thread going while away :)

I am getting very worried. Is there anyone out there that would foster this family? All expenses paid so it would not cost a thing except a room and I will lend my cat toys :) If you think you might like one or 2...their shots, chips and registration will be taken care of as well.....they are pretty much free :)

js take her to the vet. Sounds like she has an upset tummy. they turn their head because they are telling you they do not want food. 24 hrs without food is alright but not if she is not drinking water and with loose stools. I am sure it is a little bug but let the expert tell you :) the vet.

if you can get a cat box, put it close to the cat and he might go in. Put a towel over it to make him feel safe, then put him in a bathroom with food and litter until you can take him to a vet :)....... oh, I have just realized you had already taken him to the vet...sorry :).....how is he doing? <em>edited by SueB on 03/12/2011</em>

You can get good beds in Satwa. If you go down plant street, turn right, do down to the end you will see about 4 furniture shops. Thats where our maid (when we had one) took us to get her furniture.

get a strong piece of string and tie the tree to the wall so it wont get knocked over. Takes about 5 min to do. keep the good dangling ornaments from the bottom and make sure all ornaments are firmly on the branches. Take tin foil and tuck it part way up the truck for this year, it will add some reflection to the ornaments and the cat might not like it...dont spray the cat.

you can try a sliding gate on the open part. You can attach it at night and leave it off during the day. You can have one made like a screen but high enough they cant get over it. Or, ask your neighbours to cut their cats claws. Anyway, talk to your neighbours.

The vets are supposed to do the paperwork and send it in to the DM. People can register with Aniworld as well for a fee. Quite a few vets use it. it is up to the new owner to make sure the information is changed. It does not happen automatically. New paperwork has to be done. Not as extensive as the original of course.

it all depends on what you want the club to do for you and what you need. DLC is ladies only so very private. The beach is great. Wafi does not have a beach... I am not all that fam with DLC pools but their pool changing room is a bit pedestrian and maybe could use a wee kick. The actual club itself I find very clean, other than certain ladies always yacking on their blo ody phones it is nice. Nice view, alright equipment. I also like Wafi. Their pool area is great, their changing rooms are pretty good and lots of room. Their gym is alright and the weight equipment works well :)...the cardio room is a bit tired. Not alot of classes as compared to DLC. There is a ladies only gym at Wafi but it is small, windowless and basic equipment, no men allowed :).. So, go and work out at both for a week and make your choice yourself :)

nath, please make sure your friend asks for identification of the person claiming the cat if she gets an email from Dubizzle. They should supply vet information, name of cat, age, shots and microchip #. There is a scam going around where a person claims the cat is his, he was just given it by a british fam...takes the cat and sells it. So, be suspect of everyone if they cannot produce even a picture of the cat.

Feline Friends are desperate for volunteer foster families. Many of FF fosterers go away over the christmas period and many cats are left without a foster home so end up being crammed into spaces much to small for them or crowded and stressful. Do you have a room that could work as a foster room until the foster family returns to resume their care or, are you interested in fostering to see if you would enjoy a feline in your home? Your cat would go to Open Day and hopefully be adopted and FF have a web page for adoptions and calls all the time. You will not be left high and dry and on your own. FF take care of all vet bills for your foster cat and can also provide some food. So, if you would like to help Feline Friends and take in a kitty over the christmas period please contact them 050 451 0058..they would love to hear frm you. I have put a link here so you can read what requirements are needed and what is expected :) http://www.felinefriendsdubai.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12:become-a-fosterer&catid=5:how-can-you-help&Itemid=16

all rescue organizations do catch and release and in order to know if they have been castrated or neutered they tip the ear. It used to be a notch but that was often not noticed. No catch and release animal will be chipped unless they were previously done but , highly unlikely. It is law now to chip your animal but the biggest problem is making sure your information get registered.

er no! Al Barsha sometimes do discounted neutering, and some vets will give a discount if they're rescue animals, but you certainly have to pay for it. Even the shelters have to pay for it, why should you get it for free? You have animals, they're YOUR responsibility. Animals are expensive to keep and look aft ETA 2+2=4 not 3. edited by Chocs01 on 21/11/2011 Where I used to live in Canada, the vet clinics and Humane Societies used to get together once or twice a year and offer free spay and neuter clinics, so it possible jens was just asking from previous experience elsewhere, and not necessarily asking for a free ride.

who is about 8...he is a cat. He has lived on the street all his life. He is presently residing (again) in the Burch Care Center for injured cats. He is missing alot of his teeth and because he is now on wet food in the morning and dry all the time he is getting fat. He has become a bit of a lap cat and quite enjoys laying in the window all day apparently, and getting fatter. He is now able to hobble on all 4 legs from his recent injury and he is not as able to defend himself as this was a running away would to a joint :(.....I would love to find him a retirement home where he would be safe from all the bullies at night. He is quite happy in the garden of my neighbour during the day but now spends it under a covered bench for safety. He will be going back outside when he is healed enough that he can at least run away. If there is anyone out there that would like to have this lovely boy as a garden cat but kept in a night????? He is a brown Tabby :)

She might just be drinking a bit in all sorts of places. The only way you can measure how much she is actually drinking is to put her in a room with a bowl of water for 24 hours and see how much she drinks. She could be drinking enough is she is on a dry food diet :) they love running taps. <em>edited by SueB on 20/11/2011</em>

I really is best to keep her in a room for a few days so she knows she has a safe place. She will continue to pee/poop in inappropriate place until she is used to the litter box. You must keep your sons room closed or she will go back to the duvet.

feral cats are not used to humans or being handled. It sounds as if you have a street girl who is ok with handling :) It is actually quite normal for her to not use the box at this point. I have had a few who like the bathtub and refused the box. I just kept cleaning the tub with vinegar and I thought I would try a bit of water in the bottom. That worked! Now I use that method for all new kitties just in case. I have occassionally found poop on towels so now only towels in their box until they use the litter tray. So, put water in the sink and see what happens or, put a bowl of food in the sink and a bow whereever else she might go so she is only left with the litter box. This could take a day or a week but I have found by the end of about 3 or 4 days all is well and no more indiscriminate pooping :). She should stay in the bathroom until she is calm and not stressed (as much as possible) then open the door a crack and stay with her to see what happens :). She should not really mingle with your cats until she has passed the 2 week mark with her first shots, just to be safe. She is used to the outside and dirt, your gravel litter with some dirt in it is fine. Glad you got rid of that awful crystal litter, I personally hate that stuff and all my cats flately refused it. You can though, when it is quiet at night, put her in her box and bring her where the family are so she can see and hear the household noise as well as the other cats checking her out. I had a large dog kennel I put in my living room for just this purpose (it folded away when not in use) .. it housed her litter and food and lots to see as it was all open. Worked very well for the evening intros and she would be safe. Then you can leave the door open a crack after the shot period but stay in the room. By this time all should be familiar to a point. Feel free as well in the beginning to cover a good part of the cage with a blanket so she feels safe. Soooo, that should get you started. :)
