good for you Izzy that you have done such a wonderful thing for your body :)..get rid of the emergency cigs, flush them and once they are gone you could really have a chance :). My Quit. I planned. Not everyone needs to plan but I thought I needed to plan. I planned the day, the hour and the 1st whole week at home. I planned not to drink alcohol. I planned to eat properly, I planned to breath deeply alot, I planned to exercise. I did all those things. I then went to Um Al Quaim for 4 days of detox and *me* time. Not all cn do this, especially with kids, so plan a *me* time thing every day..massage, swim alone, gym but something for you. Tell the family what is happening and for the next month, you are the VIP in the family and they have to help you. Anyway, you dont need luck so I wont wish you any but I do wish you strength to get through the minutes and breath deeply to know you are not putting over 100 chemicals into yur body that it does not thrive on :).....you can do this, get your mind on board and dont let anyone sabatoge your quit!

If I notice an exceptionally handsom man I will tell my husband and I also notice when a really good looking lady walks by his eyes follow lol....or he says she is a stunner, btw, she does have to be a stunner for him to mention it, but not to look lol...it's normal. Eye Candy they call it. Dont play games by getting him back for heavens sakes. If he told you you were a dog or not nice looking or actually saying he is comparing it would be a different story, he is only making observations...join him in it...he lives and loves you..work it out :)

well, just put all your valuable away and make sure there is nothing they can knock over because with 4 kittens, It can get wild lol...btw, they will love your dogs because they dont know they are supposed to run away lol, mother on the other hand...... You might consider seeing if you can find them a foster home with room to roam while you look for permanent homes. You have time to ask and I can bet, there is someone somewhere that has an unused guest room over the summer :)....

have you let her have the run of the whole apartment right away? If so, put her in a quiet room for a day or so like a large bathroom with all her food, litter and cat box to sleep in. It is possible and very normal for her to be frightened of a new large space as she will not feel secure right away. Putting her in her own small space for a few days will help her feel secure and a place to hide and become familiar with :). She could have also found the cattery traumatic and will need time and comfort to feel comfortable again :). Dont worry, if there is nothing wrong with her physically give her a few days to become familiar to the new smells and space :)

These 2 girls have been with me for over a month now and I leave in a week for 3 months. They are getting desperate for a home. Please consider them as they honestly are a riot to have and cuddles to boot :) About a month ago someone wrote on EW that they were trying to get a little kitten down off a wall, who was stuck in a bougainvilla. 2 days they tried to get her down without any luck. So, I went and got her down. I have had her now for a month, cant find her family and she is so ready for a new home. All shots are done/chipped and registered. She will be ready for her spay next month. She is just 4 months now, cuddles like crazy, will have a chat and is a beautiful silky soft tortishell girl. There has not been any response for a home for her and this is the problem right now . I am leaving 18 days for 3 months ....I would love to have her settled in a loving family before I go and not worry about her being shuffled from pillar to post. If you are thinking of a kitten who loves to play but is quite laid back, please consider her. If you want to give her a trial for a few weeks, that is also fine...she would probably do well with other animals and is not aggresive, except with *da bird* lol... Next on the story list, is Sweetpea. Sweetpea was found wandering the streets of Deira by a tourist. She was grabbing food, was filthy and crying for anything to eat. This family scooped her up and put her in their pocket, not sure what to do with her but took her to their hotel anyway. They found Feline Friends who listened to the story and said yes, even though they were stuffed to the brim and overflowing, they would take her. She went to a wonderful foster home and then, I took in sweetpea for another fosterer because they were having company. Sweetpea is now 8 weeks old and a lovely kitty. In her pictures she needs a face wash!! but she is filling out finally but still very small. She has a lovely personality, and comes for cuddles regularily or just plays and cuddles with Penny. They have become good kittens together but do not need to be homed together. I think sweetpea will do well with other animals as she is very sociable. She has been wormed and finished her 1st shots..very healthy, good habits and curling under the covers is a good thing for her . If anyone is considering a kitten, I have had these girls for over 4 weeks now and know them well. Good for you Primrose. Glad your neighbour will feed her while you are gone. I leave next week and still have not homed my 2 little strays....something will come up, it always does :). Hope your mum's op goes well and her recovery is good :)

having been through this, been ripped apart, castigated, guilted, buried lol...Yeah, b een there, and so.........have the T. shirt. A little tough love, and less *mother guilt because I work and am not there and have to be both mother and father because the father is from a different culture blah blah blah*..sorry got carried away. You need to address the problem. Normal teen age it is to a point. but Taking the door off the hinges, removing the computer so he cannot lose himself in never land and insist he take part in family life, you might see a change. You and your husband b oth have to participate though. I find, in this day and age, that kids, can. and do, lose themselves in computer, sms, txting and have a hard time with face to face in person, touching, and talking. Find out if you spend more face to face time and your husband gets off his duff to do the same if you find a change in your child. At 15, he is a child...work on it, and good karma :) to let you know, it can change around 20, but, dont lose track of your child.

6 months is young to be out. Maybe you could keep her in the house for awhile, give her lots to do and then you could make her a safe enclosure outside. No worries :)....She is spayed?

hate being a pain in the bum but....there must be a family who are a bit interested in these little girls. 973 hits on this thread :(....gotta be someone out there sitting on the fence? I am leaving here in 7 days for 3 months....I would rather they were settled in a loving home than another foster home. listen to marycatherine!!!! get both dogs done so they feel like **** together. You are the boss, separate them, they will not pine away in a few days and she must be able to get spayed through the side rather the regular incision. So, no excuses, make the appt for the dogs!!!! you wont need a pillow lol..but seriously, be a responsible pet owner and get it done :)

You were wondering when she was last in heat you said. So she is not spayed. If that is the case, that is why she is humping the poor puppy lol..get her done. First of all, stop freaking out. You will scare an already timid dog. It might be a good idea to separate them for the time being so the puppy is safe from the horney female. Dont spray water in her face...just separate them, it is natural for unspayed or neutered animals to do this when in heat and male dogs do it all the time if their neutering has been left to long. Anyway, dont scare the dog just separate them and give the female a big pillow to hump.

jhm, thanks for helping the kitten. Better to have been taken home then to the vets rather than die on the street :(. At least his last hours were peaceful and comfortable and hopefully knew that someone was caring for him :)

Oh, I see :). In that case, it might have been her travelling charge? there is no fee to have FF take a cat. They get their donation at the end when they rehome the cat. Unless things have changed and I am not aware.

the normal fee for euthanasia is usually 150dhm if I remember correctly. I am a bit confused about what lady drove from Mussafah into AD? did she pick up the kitten and take it to the vet?

where is heavens name did you take that poor kitten that they charged you 300dhm to put it down????? I have a hunch which one but would sure like to know. Give FF a ring and explain the situation and see what they can do? Even if it is an FF authorized checkup. They cant take the kitten but they will try and help if possible.

take a warm cotton ball or very soft face cloth and gently wipe its eyes. Keep it warm with a hot water bottle or something. Put it in a small box with warm towels. Take it to a vet. Whether they want to put the kitten to sleep will be decided after a check up and the possibility of finding a fosterer or a home :(....most vets will not put a healthy animals down and it sounds as if this kitten has an eye infection, easily cleared up. Right, and do not take it to the DM :(....Give FF a call and leave a message. They are always full but who knows in an emergency...I always suggest them first... :)...good luck, and keep us posted.

Meals, why not sit down with your husband and compose a letter to all 4? Tell them how excited you are to have them meet the baby and how much you are all looking forward to seeing them. You and your family are so looking forward to having a relaxing holiday where you can kick back and relax as you just dont have time here to do that. Tell them how tired you are after the baby and do know they will understand that you need a very slow pace without alot of plans being made for them. It is lovely that they are all pulling together with a minimum of fuss so there can be lots of joint family get togethers. Looking forward to seeing everyones wonderful new homes as well ;)...something like that what do I know lol

If the cat is truly a stray, it will not want to be rescued and brought inside. But we can sterilise him/her to ensure they do not create more stray cats. Cats should be at least 5 months old to be sterilised. If the cat has its left ear tipped, this means it has already been sterilised and should be allowed to roam free. Please keep your eye on the cat as we will send one of our volunteer drivers to trap them. We also offer training on how to trap cats yourself and always welcome the help. If we have no available volunteers at the time and the cat is friendly enough to catch, we may ask you to assist by putting them in a suitable carrier and bringing the cat to one of our vets. would it not be awkward to change the baby over the bidet? unless there is a lot of room on one side so you can stand comfortably? You could have a purpose made table for over the bidet with every thing you need hanging from the sides?..do you have anything under the sink area? if not you could slide a table under there and pull out when needed. What about the living room, is there a little nook you can carve out as the baby changing area and place a screen in front to separate it from the living room? anyway, just thoughts :)

stardust, is this a new thing or has your dog always done this? If it is new (or even old) it could be she is needing the nutrients the kitty crunchies are providing. put the box where the dog cant get at it like a bathroom with twine on the handle and attached to something else so the can can get in, but the dog cant :). Our shepherd loved kitty crunchies, specially in winter, not so much in summer lol.

yes, I think Energetic Panacea has traps and yo can can call FF as they also have them, but..hopefully you will not need one if you follow our suggestions. You must borrow a cat box though, or possibly ask a cat person to lend you one? put it in there without the door for a few days but make sure it is very clean and soft and cozy. I would bet the kittens will end up sleeping i there and then the mum. This is a good think. I have often just walked in and closed the door and taken all to the vet :)..which is also another good thing as they can have a health check and dewormed :):)..good all over. But, cover the cat box with a blanket so it is dark in there and when you are ready to take mum in, put the door on but prop it open so it does not close until you are ready. Having the toddler visit is fine. The kittens and mother will get used to him but only for short periods of time as toddlers are noisy so small steps lol... and everything else Laura has said :) <em>edited by SueB on 04/06/2011</em>
