Irooni, a few years back I went to Kaya for a combination of Glycolic peels and Microdermabrasion. It was over 6 months and I went every 3 weeks if I recall. ! was the micro, the next appt was the peel. The peel started off mild and each time I went it increased in strength until it was 70% for 4 min ....I could tolerate it :) The results were pretty good I thought and with regular sun screen and not laying in the sun, it worked well. Now that I am older I went for treatments at Rebecca Treston(certified cosmotologist UK) at Euromed on Jumeriah Beach rd. She will do a consultation for recommendations. I think she is great, very thorough and will certainly spend your money to your faces benefit. Her prices are very good.

Ummissa, its ok to be upset :)....you might just have to start again, not all that hard but can be time consuming. You can bring the broom in, put it on the floor and leave it there. Bring in some tuna and sit on the floor. Do not look at the kitties, ignore them, pretend to yawn now and then...hummmm ..take some tuna in your hand and hold it out while talking quietly to mom and babies. it might not happen today or tomorrow but the smell will bring them to you. If you are nervous you can just toss a bit on the floor. Soon they will come to you to have a taste of the tuna or salmon :). Go in as many times a day as you like. Leave the broom in a quiet place on the floor so they can get used to it and smell it. Once mom eats from you the kittens might get braver :). You can also leave a cat box with a blanket in the room so they get used to that as well. The mother needs to be alright with it enough so the time you have to get her in there you can :)...I am sure someone will help. FF will most likely help with the spay of the mom, give them a ring on the help line. Dont worry :)

Miss P loves to cuddle. She and Sweetpea were having a discussion today about who would get closest to my chin while I was laying down. Their maneuvers were a site to see lol...first one moved up, then the other moved nd got closer until I finally said, "the kitten with the most bum in my face loses" and gave up and got up lol..that would be me lol

I find it is the easiest to follow the plan laid down by Dukan for the 1st week :). Your Litre and 1/2 water is essential :)...dont see any yogurt or cottage or creme fraise in there ? You must eat enough food and right now your 0% fat yogurt will be a lifesaver :)...eat what he prescribes :). It took me awhile for the pancake as I was making it per his book directions and got very frustrated so now...I think of it as an omlete and not a galette lol....I do not whip the egg whites. I do it with 2 eggs or egg beaters, 1.5 tbls oat bran, some oregano, maybe toss in some onion, possibly hot sauce, 3 oz of tuna packed in water, or chicken, or fish, what you have on hand, pour in frypan and gently cook as you would an omlete, then flip to the other side and cook...done :).... I did keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge as well as Greek Yogurt mixed with low fat.

http://www.felinefriendsdubai.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51:plea-for-help&catid=1:news This is a quote from the link above "Also, if your circumstances suddenly change (ie you unexpectedly have to leave the country), Feline Friends can move your foster feline to another volunteer." Wouldn't it have been better to allow the volunteer to foster a cat over summer and then if it dodn't work out have the cat re-homed? Just my thoughts. SQ, that is what they are trying to convey. There is not enough foster homes to go around, so, if they put a cat with this family and it does not work out because of allergies they cannot guarantee they will be able to move the cat quickly, and it might have to stay in their home for awhile. Rather than this happening, FF felt it better to find other homes where allergies are not a problem.

this would probably be a good place to insert the reply from Jesyka, the foster coordinator who actually spoke to the person mentioned earlier on i this thread. She wrote me this morning after being alerted to the comments and felt she needed to put FF's side on the board, so, here it is.: I've just been told about a negative thread on expat woman and have gone online to read it. They are talking about me, but as all heresay goes, they are very off topic. This conversation happened yesterday or the day before I believe. The woman said she would only take in long hairs as her 3 yr old daughter is allergic. When I inquired about this, as most people have allergies to the skin and/or saliva, not the actual hair (so I've heard), she said the daughter had been around one long haired cat in the UK without a problem, but any local cats in Dubai have always caused her a bad reaction. I told her it may be the environment here that makes it worse, constantly being inside with recirculating air for one. Also that we really do not have long-hairs at the moment. I told her summers are very hard, and I have no extra space, so if I were to give her a cat and her daughter had a reaction, I would not be able to move it right away. As she might be stuck with the cat for a few days, I did not want to risk her 3 yr old's health, and she whole-heartedly agreed that she also would not want to put her daughter in danger. ; end quote I am not sure how this conversation became a different thing on here, but, since Jesyka is the actual person who spoke directly with the person rather than second hand, she felt FF really needed to be heard on this. FF is a totally volunteer organization, we all work toward the same goals. Sals job is horrendous as is Jesykas and everyone else who has to make 'not so popular decisions'. They do a wonderful job with the resources they have at their disposal. I know many feel it is not enough and do not agree with some of the decisions FF have to make, but, at the end of the day, it is a charity, run by volunteers who are doing the best they can do. It is not for 1 cat her or one cat there it is for 100's here and 100's there :(..so please, when you feel the need to relate a negative experience with any of these charitable organizations, please think first, think of things such as, have you asked the questions, have you put emotion aside and thought of the best outcome for the animal. Have you considered the quality of life of the animal and the adoptability of the animal. Please, think first, and if there is a problem, please please go to the organization(whatever organization that is) you have the b eef with and try and resolve it, rather than come on to a forum and lambaste the organization without them being able to defend their actions :(

if she is 4-6 weeks she is ready for litter so get it now and put her in it, and take her paw and paw the litter :)...she will get the idea quickly. When she does poop, put the poop in her litter tray. You can get Baby Mousse at the vets. put some on a plate and mix some warm water so it is runny, take some on your finger and smear it on her mouth, keep doing this until your finger is in the mix lol....she should get this in a day or so...feed every 4 or 5 hours at this point and leave out moist baby dry food (vets) I find paper plates are great, messy but great and easy for them to dive in lol..you can change to a 'sidded'plate/bowl when they get the idea....make sure there are lots of newspapers down in their litter and feeding area that you change every day, especially if you have ants :) edited by SueB on 26/05/2011

well, you could give the workers dry food for the mother so they are all healthy...otherwise they will get leftover rice and make sure they get water. in a few weeks (if the kittens are mostly eating on their own)_you can take the mother in to get fixed...FF will help you with that as well as when the kittens are old enough, about 4 months they will get them fixed as well and release. Sounds like they are pretty safe at the garden center and will certainly keep the mice and rats away. Hopefully the garden center do not have a problem with them being there. Or, you can call all your wonderful friends to see if they might have space for the family until they can be homed )(best option) I know ff is so desperate right now for foster homes so there is no way they can take them in :(...hopefully a good samaratin on here or amongst your friends can help :).....as for the food..a bag of kitten food for the mother if she is still feeding. she will be happy enough. There, I have just realized Noman has already said most of this lol...sorry Nomad :) edited by SueB on 26/05/2011

you are doing fine. when she is full, she will stop drinking. Chances are good that she might have been dehydrated a bit so is filling the tank :). If she is still not going pee (the poop might take a day or so, or not lol) try a big cottom ball dipped in warm water. Sometime just holding it there and gently jiggling does the trick, do it every time she eats or drinks. Make shre she is very warm as if she is that young, she needs someone or something to keep her warm, a hot water bottle is good and lots of blankets/towels for her to cuddle in. A fleece blanket or jackets are great! if you have a large baking pan with sides, you might want to put that down on the floor with some clean sand. She could be too young to use it but who knows :). just dont use clumping litter or scented in one so young. Good luck :)

so is that what they said? rather than immediately assuming that someone who knows their daughter is allergic to short haired cats but not long is quite obviously a fruit loop and incapable of providing a stable environment for animals that desperately need places. " They actually said she could not foster?

in the case of fostering speed queen, the animal does come first. FF looks for the best fit for the animal and family,The fact someone might have an allergy then putting the cat in a home only to have it removed quickly is not good for the animal. Honestly, if there was someone in our home who had an allergy to cats, I would most likely not bring a cat into the house, so it would be a moot point.

and yet a friend of mine wanted to foster for the summer for feline friends and was turned down because of an allergie her daughter has to short haired cats. Nothing to stop her fostering long haired animals I would have thought, no? If they're THAT desperate (and I know they are) you'd think they'd take what good help they could get. Darn, I hate it when people dont dig deeper into why something might occur! Your friend should have asked why instead of having you say ïf they are THAT desperate"etc.. Most of the cats in FF are already under some sort of stress. Is it possible that they did not have a long haired cat at the moment that needed fostering? or, someone at FF thought that if she was allergic to short haired cats but MIGHT be able to be around long haired cats, they were not willing to take the chance of stressing out an already stressed animal to see if this was in fact true. Just because FF or K9 or any other organization are 'desperate'for fosterers does not mean they accept any person/family. They try their hardest to minimize the stress on the animal as the animal comes first and should be put in a home where they will thrive and not be shunted back and forth.

cancelling the wedding is the least thing you should worry about. That will pass. You need to worry about what might come next. He probably will try and woo you back, loving you, being kind, begging in the hopes to break you down to go back (where he wants you) You will have to be strong to not fall into the net again. Get your life in order quickly and if that means going home, then go home, it is not the end of the world. What could be the end though is being with a man who belittles you and thinks you need a tougher skin rather than see himself for what he is :(

applause to you Mrs L for taking the kitten to the vet :). I would have to agree with the vet, euthan asia is the best thing when the animal is that hurt. If you put in to the mix, most likely severely dehydrated which can affect the brain along with all the other organs. You are right, it died a peaceful death rather than cooking to death in the car park and most likely get squashed by another car :(....we save the ones we can and help those we cant to get to the Rainbow Bridge.

mental cruelty or mental abuse. That is what he is doing and you can bet your bippy he knows what he says hurts you, that is why men like this do it. It makes them feel strong, in control, have the upper hand. You could try therapy before you get married but I honestly doubt he will change in the long term :(. There is nothing wrong with you. Please do not let this person tear you down, destroy your self confidence and make you weak because that is where you are headed. Once you marry and have children do not expect it to get better, it certainly will not for your children as they will see how he treats you and they will treat you the same because by that time there is no self confidence left in you to fight back. This is the what Could happen, not necessarily what Will happen, but I would be stepping back from any wedding at this time and taking a real good look at this man who says cruel things to you now...you need to get back your confidence and stand up to him with strength, especially if you think you will go ahead with the marriage. Do not be a door mat because that will not end well .....well glot. You did ask for opinions and help on how to deal with this ..and this is mine :)

have you contacted all the vets in Dubai and sent a poster to each. Have you contact K9 friends to let them know he is missing. Have you put an ad on Dubizzle in the lost and found section? Please follow up with Municipality every couple of days. Have you knocked on neighbours doors again in your neighbourhood as someone might have taken him in and not taken him to a vet for a chip check. Good idea to put posters on posts until they are ripped down and put a poster under each villa door. If there is a school in your area make a plea there and ask to put up some posters of your dog. Al safa vet is also in your area http://www.safavets.com/siteSearch/view/189806_MirdifLocation.pml
