hmmm, this little girl was always alone and usually found at this villa in the evening. My young one escaped a few times to go and see her :) then I have not seen her for awhile? maybe they stopped feeding her and she is now at Primroses? A picture would be good so we know if we are talking about the same cat :)...and yes, I think she would be easy to get into a cat box to take for a chip test.

the street behind us, at the end, with a small red car in front. If it is the same cat, they used to put food out for this cat every night. It did not belong to them either and they thought it was a dumped cat. Maybe if she was taken into the vet for a chip check, it could be confirmed.

33 years we have been together and we have had some knock down drag out fights lol, when we had the energy. Now we are heading in the the (aw sh i t we are in it) phase of life I realize that, it only gives you a pain in your tummy to sulk, the point of that is missing out on hot s e x or at least a very good discussion on what the fight was really about! So if I say "suck it up princess" that it is not a power play but a marriage will I get in trouble lol??? honestly, discuss the argument only when you are both calm and the arguments over, you might get some insite. Be honest, it takes 2 to tango and usually no one person is the culprit so try and figure it out together and see where it gets you :).....marriage is not a field of wildflowers lol

yes it makes sense Izzy. As you know, FF only have so many foster homes. FF will not take in cats they have no space for at that time. Many Fosterers though, have many more cats than they should, because of limited space, but, there is a saturation point. If Sally or Joe call because they have found a cat/kittens/family etc and want FF to take them, this is often not possible. FF will however, take the mother to be sterizlized and later on, take the kittens for sterilization and put them back on the street. This would be in line with the "catch and release program'. Now if kittens are found without a mother, there is a higher chance of help, especially if they are bottle feeders, but, there again, bottle feeder fosterers are very limited within FF, but FF will do their utmost to help the babies. If absolutely no one comes forward or FF are full, then, unfortunately they will be euthanized but only as an absolute last resort. There comes a time when euthanasia is a benefit to the animal, its standard of living and survival. Cats that are rescued, hurt, diseased are always evaluated by a vet before any decision is made for their future. If the cat is sick, unable to be treated or its standard of life will not be good, then the decision is followed by the recommendation of the vet. FF will not put down an animal without a vet evaluation. There is no sense and it would be cruel to the animal to put it back on the street if it's life will not be a good one. Most street cats are much happier outside and as long as there is some source of food and water can thrive and the cat is reasonably healthy and sterilized. The difference between the FF here and the RSPCA or any SPCA, is FF do not have an animal shelter :(. The various SPCA/RSPCA's do...they move them in and then move them out because they only have so much room. FF only have so many foster families willing to take in cats. If there are not any foster families we cannot take in the cat/kittens/family. As simple as that. We also hope that the people that call, make the effort to care in someway for the animals they call about, whether it is leaving a big bowl of water every night and a bowl of food beside the bins at night and if there are babies a place to shelter from harm until they are old enough. I am very glad you did ask the question Izzy99 as there have been some very unfortunate rumours going around lately about FF and that they kill cats :(....this is so wrong and it is very sad that the people who are spreading false information about FF feel the need to do harm to the animals rather than pulling together and helping. Feline Friends always puts the animals first. That is their mandate. Egos must be put at the door and the animals must be of the utmost importance in rescuing/rehoming/caring. Sometimes the decisions are not popular but, to keep very sick, unhomeable cats in foster families when there are healthly cats or cats that with treatment will be healthy just does not make sense. FF does not have unlimited space, nor do they have unlimited funds. We cannot, nor agree with keeping a colony of cats in a fostering situation. In the wild, the cats live a different life but in a large cage with many cats there is a huge potential for the spread of disease! So, we do not do this for that reason. We save what we can, we do what we can and many volunteers pay out their own pockets, certainly we pay for the food our guests eat and the litter they poop in lol....FF takes care of Vets, meds etc :) and finding homes. At the end of this. Feline Friends is now coming into summer when more animals will be abandoned, born and we cannot help or only minimaly. Foster families are going away so we have less help but more cats, our Foster Coordinator Amanda is doing a marvelous job of manoevering cats here for a week, there for a month, pairing the cats with the right place..it is a job and a difficult one that I am sure gives her a headache. If there are people here for the summer, please call FF and volunteer as a fosterer, even if only for a short time, all is so greatly appreciated. Anyway Izzy99, there is so much more I can say on the subject but if you managed to read this far, good for you lol...

ABSOLUTELY NOT! never would they do this. They only put very sick animals to sleep. There are cats that have been in foster homes way over a year. So no, absolutely not. Feline Friends as an organization saves hundreds of cats a year, do rescues, trapping, spay and neutering and release programs. FF are always looking for foster families, as the more fosterers they have, the more cats they can take in, if the public help them, they can help the cats. Is there a reason you are asking Izzy99?

Hi primrose, I live near Satwa / 57th rd, you? You could take it over to the vet for a chip check. Is it a European cat? can you take a picture and put the link here?...just a sec, there was a lady last month who lost one but it came home and she lives down from me, I dont think I have her info anymore :(.....take it for a chip check first and we can take it from there ie, pictures, searching...you can also check dubizzle, also the lost and found on www.felinefriendsdubai.com to start. Do you need some cat food in the meantime? :)

just dont use the baking soda opened in the fridge, keep a separate one in the pantry for cooking :)...open in the fridge will go stale..but yeah, great for cleaning teeth, especially if you mix it with lemon juice, (but not all the time, just now and then, the lemon juice!)

well, if you are serious about a majlis then get everything here, carpets, lanterns, covers as in Canada, they have specialty stores that quadruple the price lol.... no on the recommendation as my friend bought one, I didnt :)..but...in the furniture section which is, Satwa road going in the direction of Jebel Ali before you turn to go back the other way or around the corner to continue in the jebel ali direction there are furniture stores, start there :) I do hope that made sense as In my head I can see it lol

Baking soda and Powder are different. Baking soda you can often find in the cleaning section as a fridge deodorizer! usually on bottom shelves..exactly the same one as you use for eveything else :) ie, cooking and cleaning. You might have to ask for the orange box as that is the one I have always bought :)

your are right, I stand corrected that when the Flight crew do not turn on the sign and the Flight attendants have turbulence in the back end (as it is much smoother in the front) then, yes, they call the Flight crew to turn on the seat belt sign. But, they (flight Attendants) do not turn it on themselves as it is in the flight deck unless something has changed. I am not sure I would use the word óbey but they certainly do have the authority to question.

The pilots make the decision to turn on the seat belt signs. The cabin crew do not have the authority! The captain has the responsiblity of the plane and passengers including, the cabin crew.

you can pretty much get everything and more in Canada, and usually cheaper, except....Majlis if you like them, buy one in Satwa. Decorated pillow cases (the sequin, colourful patchwork ones) will cost alot more in Canada so go to Antiques museum and stock up if you like that stuff. You might use this to do a lower floor rec room inexpensively or something..who knows :)...There are so many outlet malls in the Toronto/burlington area that you will be spoiled.

Emirates staff pay for their flights at discounted rates with consequences, which are...standby, not knowing if yoou will get on or not, then we pay for higher fares to hopefully get on then a higher fare that a darn good chance of getting on then the regular fare which means we get on, so it is not simple., outside of their yearly ticket, which I would say, everyone on here receives. Every airline in the world give their staff discounted fares, everyone and other perks, Emirates is not alone in this. What amazes me, is that no one is up in arms about the oil companies here? We go to our home countries and are paying for gas/heating etc through our noses yet, a good majority of the families here are getting much better salaries than EK employees, paying the fares of EK, etc, yet, not a word..maybe because we are families that we get so much slack. So, there you are. different levels in EK get different benefits but no one flys for free except for their yearly tickets home. Shellly chose to pay for another airline because she wanted a guarantee she would get home for christmas...

ceese I am not going into what we do pay for what we get, but, we do pay out of our pockets for upgrades if not entitled :) unless we get our yearly ticket home, which you also get :)... But your company pays for you to go business as many companies pay for every airline to get certain grades and most have buses somewhere!!! yup, it tickes us off, especially when I am in heels and my carry on would kill a gladiator lol then have to negotiate those steep stairs...so...it is annoying with any airline, no matter the price you pay.....did I say we got free upgrades. Nope, we dont. We buy the ticket and can get bounced back then back again or not even get on the plane. (unless it is our yearly ticket home, and then we might still be bumped!) so, sometimes it is rosey and sometimes not. Grass/greener Right, before it comes up or rears its ugly head, yes we get employee discounts, just as alot of companies give their employees discounts on the products they sell. Ours happens to be air travel. edited by SueB on 04/05/2011

sounds like she is excerting her power if after a vet visit, she is fine :). You might try feeding them in different places for awhile and see what happens. I assume it is only happening with the wet food....so let the begger eat in the normal place, and let the other one have a lovely feeding station in another room where the door can be closed so she gets her dinner :)... I also assume she is eating the dry food? once at the vet, they will weigh her to see if she has put on chub..and possibly worm her and rule out other things. She could be on her way to be a fat cat lol....I had one a long time ago.....

put some tuna on your finger and let him smell it, providing you have a ladder. He is probably up there because the dog chased him up :).....if you can reach in and there is space to get him down, grab him by the scruff of his neck and take him out. you might want to quickly wrap him in a towel!!!.. Watch out for the thorns though. I had a cat in mine during the last rains and I had to clip all the thornes and branches near him so he could get out without pain. Once you get him out, put him in a spare bathroom with a blanket/towel, box if you have one, water and food. I have spare kitten litter boxes if you would like to borrow one. Then, take him to the vet, take pictures of him and put a link here and posters up all in the neighbourhood, he might belong to someone. Let us know what happening :0

did you go to an ortho Dr.? if not, give Dr. Chris Whatley a go at Med Care Hosp. He will also recommend a good phsio. There is also Dr. Schmidt at American Hosp..when my husband had his accident last year and extensive surgery on his knee and thigh this is the guy who did and he was wonderful. Not so much bedside manner but knows his stuff (as does Dr. Whately) There is also a good Phsio dept at the American.
