I honestly would not worry about it because if you were not supposed to download it, the website would prevent it :) There are sites where I would like to copy and past pictures or download and I am prevented so, if someone does not want them copies/downloaded they can put the thing on that prevents it :) (erm..have no idea what that thing is lol)

I wasnt pointing at one particular person, just the way the thread turned a couple of pages ago. It went from "wasn\t that lovely"to dogs,hats,nipp les, awful dresses blah blah..not necessary :( really, it was a lovely wedding and anything that might have passed my mind while watching continued on it's merry way, never to be talked about because it was not necessary :)

any yahoo can get a business license in Canada in the area of $100.00. They don't have to show they are qualified for squat. It is still consumer beware and aware. I dont think the license of 7,000dhm is over the top if you have to prove you are certified by a reputable agency. And yes Guinness, in Canada you are inadvertently certified by the government as the manuals and course are usually supported/written by fitness professionals as well as Health and Welfare Canada. I personally know this. I would think it would be similar in the U.S. Ther are some great organizations who do certification and it is pretty hard today to present a certification from an unknown organization without redoing an exam.

get out of the house. Cut up veg...make sure you are drinking lots of water. make sure you are eating lots of protein. Make sure you dont get constipated lol. Stay away from high carbs, sweets. It wont be forever. (the food thing I mean) pay attention that you exercise so you dont pile on the pounds. Expect to gain a bit but not huge amounts, that is not necessary. Get out of the house, water, protein, low carb, no sweets (minimal) not chips!! exercise, exerc ise...walk, congratulations!!! make a plan!!!! Oh...and lots of deep breathing especially when you want a cig!!! breath through it...jump up and down. The 1st week is nearly 1/2 done!!!! <em>edited by SueB on 02/05/2011</em>

you can be on your husbands visa and get a labour card to work for a company as a PT, teaching assistant, hair dresser etc. You would be illegal if you have not registered yourself as a company. (or something) ie if Sally was at home but qualified to work as a PT, then advertises her services, gets clients and gets paid, she is working únder the table'so to speak and not working legally. She needs permission to work as a PT or anything that makes money :)

I would assume that the Personal Trainers and instructors that are already here have visas. I am not quite sure what the registration cost is but travelling stylists have to have one, my old gardener has one that cost him 15,000dhm etc. If the PT/instructors work for an organization they should be under their umbrella. It is only those instructors/pt that are working on their own that require registration, from my understanding and I think that is a good thing. There are some PT's who train people here and they do not have qualification or just the absolute minimum. You can be definetly be hurt by an PT/instructor if they do not have training and yes, it can be a harmful industry if people do not have to be qualified, and yes "safe practises"must be in place before someone can call themselves a PT/instructor! this is a positive move to protect the client. There are PT's out there who are charging 350dhm an hr! and I know of 2 who are not very qualified!

agreed. absolutely. No trainer or instructor should be teaching/training without qualifications, and, they should be able to prove it if asked and can be verified. All Fitness organizations can be contacted about a persons qualifications. They are transparent. In other words, if you are a great footballer, that does not mean you can call yourself a personal Trainer, you still have to go through the steps and get the certification. <em>edited by SueB on 01/05/2011</em>

I think the registration needs to be in place so the PT must show their certification and be able to work in Dubai. They are talking about the instructors who are giving sessions in parks, not in facilities. I would assume (rightly or wrongly) that the owners of facilities have actually seen and questioned their qualifications to be PT's. There are a few instructors I have come across here in Dubai that are not qualified to fry an egg let alone teach a class but they have the jobs because they are of a certain nationality and it is common thing to have done this particular 'training' since childhood. I think the PT's regulate themselves for the most part and I do know that a few that do the park training in groups work with organizations so again, I assume they are qualified as either instructors or trainers. But know Jewelsmiddle, that there are good trainers and bad trainers and qualifications do not make a good instructor :) they can have all the 'learning'but not know a thing about humanity :)

if you are going to wear tan shoes then you will have to wear tan stockings. I think grey hose with grey shoes might be a better look, or black hose with black shoes, just make sure the hose you choose is very sheer. Just dont wear tan shoes with any other color than sheer hose. Your accessories do not have to exactly match as in your clutch can be tan and black or black with some tan to bring in the the shoe, but for the grey or black shoe/hose, black or grey dress bag is fine. But my pick would be the black on black or grey on grey but make sure shen you buy the shoes and hose, you take the dress if you are looking at grey :)...just my thought :) another thought about the bag, you can have subdued color in the bag providing is does have some of the dress color in it ie, a little splash of red or better a soft blue but take the dress when you shop :) <em>edited by SueB on 01/05/2011</em>

Heyjude, I did not get up on the wrong side of the bed but do get frustrated at people not being prepared. I cannot imagine why the vet hosp would tell you not to get the rabies test done before you left, in case you ended up in the UK or Aust or anywhere else that this might be required. As nadadanada said, it is always best to get this done even if you dont know where you are going. We have been harping on this for so long now, be prepared. The vet who suggested you not do it because you did nt know where you are going should be told he/she gave you the wrong information :( I understood you would not leave the animals in an empty house, I said empty house with someone coming in to feed them was not a great idea. Having someone to actually live there is a different thing. So, in the end, the answer to your post was hopefully for others to go and get their animals tested, get the passport just in case. I dont know of any other country that has as strick guidelines as the U.K. and Aus but do know a few will not accept any animals. Good luck and fingers crossed for you that a lovely family will come forward to take your cats. Why not put up a picture?

She should do what you tell her to. She's 7! But, more helpfully, how about showing her some pictures of horrible teeth belonging to people who don't go to the dentist? It might persuade her that it is for her own good? oh dear MM, that is the wrong approach :(. You cannot make a child open her mouth for suspected pain on her part...it needs to be gently worked at and taking her to a hsp for anesthetic is also the wrong solution.

I was the child who was terrified of the dentist. My parents took me to their dentist and he was just awful, terrified me to death, rough, rude and spoke loudley! My mom found a lovely childs dentist who I liked on first meeting, gentle, explained everything and it was not until the 3rd visit that I would let him do anything. No one pushed me, forced me and he talked me around mostly with me holding up a mirror so I could see my teeth and he could show me things :)...I just went to the dentist (still not happy about going but, what to do lol) and wonders!! he used a marvelous gel that I clamped between my teeth and the get on my inner check and it froze it...whohoo, then he slowly put in the needle and I surely thought he would never take the darn thing out but...it did not hurt, one bit....I am impressed, the filling didnt hurt, nothing hurt. I asked him how come? he told me the gel lets him put in the needle and if the novacaine is put in quickly there will be pain so he puts in in slowly and I dont feel it...marvelous I say and makes sense :)...so, find a good childs dentist, let her learn about her teeth with his help, out of the chair if necessary, take your time dont push, if she has a filling, it will not rot in a month. very simple. Go up to him and quietly say that he might not want all his personal business out there for all to hear and you can hear him loud and clear, so just in case he didnt realize, he might want to crank it down and bit....big smile and leave. The same with cell phones. Often people do not even realize how loud they are, I dont and have to consiously nearly whisper and the caller/callee can still hear me lol...

did you try Life Pharmacy on Al Wasl? You might also consider a wheel chair if your mom is ok with that, especially for shopping. It was great as you both will enjoy the experience rather than mom shuffling and uncomfortable. They do have them at most malls though. My MIL loves shopping in one now lol. I do have an adjustable shower chair though if you need it for her. Very sturdy for showers .....anyway, let me know :)

The best nanny in the world is...........mother. Or...a well trained person who knows what to feed a child and everything from taking a temp to calling for emergency (big list but you know what I mean) a maid, cleans the house and unless she has actually raised her own children in a relatively modern society she will not know how to feed your child but might feed her child plain yogurt. Most of the time you THINK they understand, but they dont but are afraid to admit it. Assume they don't understand and figure out a way to help. Find someone who does speak their language and english and have them write instructions down in the maids language...that should help. Second of all, clean with them until you are sure they know what you want. Showing and doing go alot further than telling and assuming. A blacklist. hmmmm. so Hessy does not do things the way you want them, breaks a few things and throws them out? a little petty theft maybe....you better have a checklist in order to blacklist a maid and tick all the boxes before you ruin someones reputation. Best Thing? Hire an agency maid to clean and be your own nanny.

first of all, you cannot leave cats alone for 6 months in an empty house :( with someone coming in to feed them. You will need to supply some kind of guarantee to the fam that fosters them I think, ie traveling papers along with shots etc and a deposit for the company that will be moving them ie, dubai cat and kennels. It really is a shame you did not check into what needed to be done when you left :(. anyway, cant look back at what was, must look forward to what will be. Post a picture with more information, ie, habits, temperment, kids, dogs other cats. hopefully you will find someone. p.s. is this house furnished and would you be interested in someone pet sitting??? that could be another avenue you might look into as you mention an empty house to leave the cats?

for heavens sakes. Why does the question of tipping always turn into an argument on this board? It ends up the haves against the supposed havenots...the poor workers vs the wealthy patrons. Cripes. Tip if you want to, tip what you want to, don't tip but lordy, don't go one about the poor workers and how we should feel bad if we dont tip...it is personal and actually, no ones business. I tip in all countries, tip higher for better service and if the service is ****, don't tip...sheesgh

I wish ALL salons would by law state how qualified the staff are. Received 2nd degree burns on armpits once after waxing. Despite it being one of the best well known salons in Bahrain they still used cheap labour who clearly didn't have a clue about what they were doing :( Ended up in hospital for the night and looked like a complete idiot for a whole week whislt walking around with my arms in the air! The fact that it was the middle of summer made it unbearable to be out in the hot humidity for even a split second! Despite making a big fuss at the salon all they did was say a very small sorry whilst trying not to laught! Great huh? I think qualifications should be posted on the wall. At least they should be able to produce their certification if asked.

good for you ummissa for taking the family :). If you possibly can, take the mother cat into the vet for a check on the leg. If she needs a cast that will be fine but you might have to feed the babies for a day, or as Laura says, it could be an abcess.... The kitten food is the way to go and a conbination of wet and dry is good .....let us know if you need any help :)

Baslers, oh dear, dont shop there unless there is something you must have. It is sooooo over priced for the quality. Anyway, on to your question lol... Marks and Spencer at Festival City usually have a pretty good selection and things like pants they make in different lengths. Your mum should have success there. Debenhams in MOE should be good as well...I think they do have a petite section as well as larger sizes in the petites. There is a shop at Mirdif Mall that is advertised on here for larger sizes..Una pop something...went there with a friend last month and they seemed to have a pretty good selection but no petites (a tailer would be good for your mum for alterations) Being short myself(5 feet) there is not alot of petite selection and if you are bigger than a size 8 it can be hard :)..but....I am sure your mum will find things with a bit of searching

think of it this way. If you dont have kids, they are doing the preperatory work. If you have kids then you are sleep deprived already. Seriously. Give the darlings their own room. Play with them before bed so the routine becomes set...wet food, play, bedroom sleep. They will eventually let you know what time it is and head for their own room. Like kids though, you must be consistant :)

Mary take the cat to a groomer, you will be much happier with the result, and safer for the cat. Once, a long time ago and in a far away place ......(that sounded good lol) I found a beautiful persian cat, abandoned and fur so clumped you could not tell where the clumps ended and skin began. Very carefully I tried to cut out the clumps and to my horror I realized I took a huge clump of herself with it!!!! off to the vets for stitches, poor girl..she did not make one complaint...never again will I groom a persian or long haired cat unless it is with a brush or comb!!! Dont do it!!!! take her to those who know :)

I have to disagree on different forms of stealing. Stealing is stealing. Borrowing and not returning is only stealing when you have asked for said object back from borrower and they do not give it back. Then it i stealing. Often the borrower needs to be reminded because they have genuinely forgotten, except of course, those that borrow with the intention of never giving back....like money...but, then, who would be silly enough to lend anyone money in the first place and not call it a gift lol

good lord snowflake, give yourself a minute lol...who said you 'should'keep busy and do charity work, think positive and build a new life lol...back up the truck a minute. This is very normal for you to go through this. Talk to your kids and husband and tell them what is happening to you emotionally so you dont have to do it alone :)..I would bet your kids, as excited as they are, deep down are also sad to be ending this chapter in their life so, share how you feel...its alright :) Your husband could be thinking wild s e x on the living room rug, who knows lol..running around naked lol...ask him what he envisions :) It is tough because you are a loose ends ,,, resurrect an old hobby, take a course but give yourself time to have your life change from being needed to maybe feeling like you are not needed...you are still a mother and they still need you. Your husband can just wine and dine you, take you dancing...walk on the beach...anyway...take your time girl...it will fall into place but let the feelings come and share them...tears never hurt a soul :) <em>edited by SueB on 23/04/2011</em>
