not much else to add. A hard decision to have to make that call as it does go against all we hope for but....it is necessary :( ....you could let her have them then search for homes or terminate now and don't have to worry about putting 3 - 5 or more babies out there with uncertain futures. So, I am in full agreement for termination as well. You might call around to some of the newer vets as they could be a bit less expensive. Unfortunately, you have taken on this baby rather than fostering her so a discount might be hard to get :( Certainly worth a try though :0. Not sure if the Municipality vets do this, doubt they would do a termination and not sure if I would have them do it either!......

from your post I am assuming that your kitty went outside and now totally inside, no enclosed balcony? So, assuming that, :).....it will take him a while to become an indoor cat. the transition can be a bit difficult for everyone in the beginning and most settle, but not all. You might see what trouble he can get into by going vertical..ie..very tall cat tree ending in a lovely play area up high. Indoor cats do require more stimulation and you know if he is a chaser, jumper or batter or all of those :)...lots of hanging things on elastics, things to bat and things to chase. A seat big enough to lounge on in front of a window where the window opens and there is a safety screen so he can catch the breeze and sun. if there is a balcony it must be safe so he cannot go over or through.lots of ideas here. You could also try and train him on a harness and take him out for walks and play in the grass. Anyway, good luck, and I am sure you will be unindated with offers for your fluffy baby :)

he could very well still be in your yard. Cats can hide in the smallest places so look again...do you have a car that has not moved? yard stuff he can hide behind....think like a cat...get down low and look :) I doubt he is far, as they usually stay quite close. Late at night call then listen hard, you might hear a tiny meow. is there any way he can get in the yard other than the gate? if not then you will have to prop open the gate a bit so he can get back in. Look down the side of electrical buildings if you have one, use a flash light...they are easy to miss in tiny spaces. Is there any holes he could get into? look again in your house....down low...look in the oddest places....you wll find him, I am sure :) ask al the maid and gardeners to also look...tell them how to do it :) offer an incentive :) Feral cats would hide more than domestic but from my experience they all pretty much want to be alone when in pain and if that means going away, they will. Or, hide under sheets, beds, behind toilets, behind shower curtains....has his litter or food been disturbed? try putting wet food around the house one evening and see if it has been touched. a thought...and also around the yard, small bowls of his fav food..if it has been touched, chances are he is there...anyway, some things to tr :). Also, by looking at the pics, if he is curled up tight not much white is showing so easy to miss. Sardines, yum...put those out. edited by SueB on 28/02/2013 edited by SueB on 28/02/2013

Our girl died in January. she was 19 and had a slow growing brain tumour along with Renal failure. I miss her deeply everyday. I had to make the choice for her and it was terribly difficult...she had 9 good years with us and was loved so much :)... Your girl has had an op...what is the prognosis? how long for the collar to be on? I think most animals are very disorientated with the collar on as they cannot move their head nor see sideways...difficult to eat, so I think it is normal. You might try putting her food on a raised something, you can also cut her collar back to the minimum so she can not get to the scratching but be able to see more. Is she not on pain meds??? if they expect her recovery to be relatively quick, 2 weeks then if she is on pain meds, collar cut back, keep her in a small space..maybe do up a box that she can go into rather than under the bed, cover with towels....also maybe a covered hot water bottle in her bed...food and litter close by so she does not have to navigate? Not sure if any of that is helpful but hopefully she is over the worst? Could you hire a pet service to come in the middle of the day to check on her, feed her..hold her water etc? Anyway, whatever you decide, it will be the best for her I am sure. Awful decision I know :(

amanda, he is in pain you are sure....so, he has gone into hiding :(....start by looking around your house behind bushes, in openings he could get into..neighbours yards very close. Look thourghly into adjoing yards, under stationery objects, boxes....are you sure he has not gone back into your house? Hopefully he will come out when he is thirsty but dont count on it if he is in pain :(....keep looking close by.....good luck

Please go with your husband to the police station. There you will be able to speak with someone who speaks english. Do not leave it. I would also have frozen. You were on a completely empty floor, no one would hear a scream. I can imagine how you felt. You were lucky nothing else happened. the next woman might not be so lucky :(

are other cars parked on the road? I think your neighbour sounds like a twit to be honest. She does not want to park her 3 cars in the garage. She does not want to use her own laneway but she wants to use the public road to park her cars. She is being nasty about it. Take the pictures and ask the RTA about parking on that street. If the car is on the road and not blocking access to anything other than being in front of her villa then wait until your husband comes home and let him deal with her.

actually? about 4 to 5 working days but you can get it quicker in an emergency I think :).... I am assuming you are asking about getting it here? it is the same in Canada but you do have to send the information to the UAE Embassy in Ottawa with a return envelope. You can also (for a price) hire a company to get your visa and it takes 2 days. it is sent email. edited by SueB on 23/02/2013

some things are negotiable. Car seats is not one of them. Calmly but firmly tell her she is going in the seat, buckle her up, close the door and put in some ear plugs. She will eventually realize that it not a negotiable thing, stop crying and accept it. Do not have a conversation about it. Same goes for the push chair and high chair. You are 'the boss of her' lol..you want her in the push chair then use those ear plugs again, smile calmly and be done. High chair is where she eats with the family. is the table removable and can the chair be pushed right up to the table so she feels she is at the table and not a high chair? something to consider...but again. ear plugs lol.... I figure that the less explaining done the better. The children finally realize that it is no use having a tantrum if no one comes to the show :)..we do not have to explain everything to the kids, explain when it is important and keep the non negotiables firm.

If you have cats coming up to the window and having a go at your cat now, you might have a problem with them trying to run your cat off the property. Do you have a high wall around your property? is there any way to keep your kitty confined in your yard and the other cats out? i would certainly go out for short stints with your kitty. Also take his bed outside for a time. Let him put his scent around the yard as well to help keep the other cats away. Cats need to have a scent that is familiar in order to find their way home. If you let him out without him scenting his space and he goes over the wall, he will have a harder time finding his home if he was run off by another cat. So, go out with him now for short stints...let him put his scent. See if you can keep him safe within the yard or other cats out by putting something up on the wall...if there is a tree put a collar on it so he cant go up the tree to get out :)...anyway, letting a cat out will always be a bit stressful, especially when the neighbourhood is new and there are bullies waiting to welcome him lol...and as was mentioned, let him out hungary....

seriously....pay the maid what is entitled to her. one months salary after working for you for 12 months. so is leaving to work for another family but you still owe her one months vacation pay. Simple..just pay it rather than nit picking for heavens sakes, and..if she is leaving to go home, you pay her ticket home, one way.....and her months vac pay...simple. If she is transfering to another family, she is not going home...you do not have to pay her one way flight. You still owe her one months vacation pay :)

oh dear, I had wondered when your husband would toss in the false adultery thing :(. You need to tape every conversation from here on in. You can buy very small tape recorders that you can turn on with a flick of a finger in your pocket. Carry it with you all the time to make sure you get it on. If he threatens you with adultery you will have proof as well as anything else he threatens you with :(.....I would also confide in some kind of support person and let your family know. this is terrible for you to live through and can guarantee your children feel what is happening, maybe not know what it is but feel something in the air.

As has been said, it could be the medication but.....if he is this violent without physical abuse, it could lead to physical abuse...please next time call the police so they are aware if nothing else. If he works from home then where are the childrens passports? surely you can get at them? Posters are right. Do not leave your children.

so some info :).....if this ever happens to you, you immediately go back down to EK visa office and tell them :D...Be nice and smiley and polite :)....D is picking up the visa this afternoon :)..we were in there all of 15 min :).....whew. and yes, you can get a visa with standby. We thought that was odd considering a good majority of EK staff families fly standby....so no worries there. So for future, (I now will always remember this) if you get emails from the visa office, just go down and sort it :) You can get a visa very quickly if needed.

I would imagine it would cost a bundle to have a dog house made that would be efficient for aircon? or your cooling bills would be through the roof. I think a better idea would be to install a dog door so the dog has access to the outside but can go inside the house. In the long run it might be cheaper to replace the house door when you move rather than spending lots of dhms on an efficient air conditioned dog house. Alot less work as well :)

She cannot apply for her visa through Emirates because she is only doing one leg. In order to take advantage of Canadians and online visa, she must be doing both legs on emirates or Etihad. She can apply for the 90 day visa in Canada, Ottawa to be specific. She should be able to find that information on emirates Website re visas etc. If she already has her tickets she should apply now to save frustration :)..... I am surprised that nationality has anything to do wit it but hey.....it is easier for her to just do it in Canada. I think a 90 day is about 100???

we have had our LG condenser for 9 years, same as all our other appliances. None of them have ever needed service nor broke down, except a cheap iron we bought. think it is a bit of a myth that appliances dont last long here...you should not have to buy a new dryer after 2 years unless it was a cheap one..and if you did, I would be raising a stink with the manufacturer to replace it. We clean our dryer regularily, empty the water in the bottom, clear the fuz inside etc....fingers crossed, now that I have said that, watch, they will all go tits up lol..... anyway, your dryer might just need a new heating element. Call the store where you bought and tell them the dryer is not leaving your house, they will have to repair it onsite and if they can't, ask for service people.

You should just let him do his thing while you look around for someone better. It's always easiest to find a job while you have a job and the same goes for men. No need to rush out and leave his sorry self. If it takes you a year to get yourself sorted - and new man found - then so be it. Why does she need a man? I would think she can do pretty well without one by the looks of it :)

it is possible that Ches has asthma. When he is having trouble breathing do what we do with kids, run the shower so the room is steamy and take him in and sit for about 15 mn to see if that helps. It could be stress of course. Did you tell your vet about the wheezing? I never have aproblem taking an animal for a second opinion. Did you put his sister in the room with him? how is he with her? you can put Ali in your bedroom for a few hours so Ches can have the space and see what happens when he plays...take his litter box and food out of the room though so Ali does not use it right now. I would give Caroline aring and have her come over :)

I feel that once all your ducks are in a row, and with him travelling so much that you are fortunate enough to be able to get organized....decide what you would like to take home, organize the move for when he is away. pack up your kids at the end of the school year and go home with your stuff to follow. He will know you have left when he gets home and you will also have left the dossier of what you know (copies of course) on the bedroom pillow along with the divorce papers...custody of the children to follow and you will be fair in the custody :)..... He has been in this relationship since September 2012, thats nearly 5 months..this is not a fling. Be good to yourself and kids and go home. as much as you would like to cut him off at the knees, you still need support for the kids and youself until you can manage. Get that money moved to your home country .....buy what you need to start over there, bit by bit and store it with your parents.....anyway, good luck...very painful and heartbreaking...not everyone can pack up and leave :(

lots of good advice on here :). Can I suggest a few more things? do all the cats have their own blanket/bed to sleep in? have you laundered their bedding? May I suggest that you rub Ches with a nice small towel, let him sleep on it. Do the same with Ali, rub him all over with the towel.... the next day, rub Ali with Ches towel and let him sleep with it...or when he is sleeping put it by or on him or around him, do the same with Ches with Alis towel...do this every day so they both smell the same. Poor Ches is terrified, poor guy and this must be fixed quickly or it might become cronik...the pooing and peeing everywhere. Keep Ches in the spare room while you are away, with the sister if you like, with their own food and litter.... see how that works out by the end of the week. If that is not working you might have to talk with an animal behaviourist. Caroline at Nad Al Sheba is a good one :).... Good luck. I know its tough and great that you are not giving up..hopefull it will come right in the end. :) When you take Ali to the vet, take all 3 so they all smell the same from the vet.

That is great that you are taking your time to decide on a pet for your daughter :). I think an older kitten is a good idea as well. Mind you, your daughter is 5 so not a tail pulling toddler so a kitten would also be good. Keeping in mind how active a kitten is and teaching your daughter how to care and play with it is a good learning experience :)....Having said that, I certainly could point you in the right direction for kittens lol.....

I am beginning to think that lately, people post a question and do not like the answers, they then bash the people here. I am also thinking that when people post a question, there should be a disclaimer attached such as: "I will only entertain the answers I like and that agree with my views". There are alot of different people here with alot of different views, some will be helpful, some will not. When a question is posed it often does not have all the information so people respond to what they read. Often as the thread goes on more info is told so the answers change and is more understandable. So, before everyone on here gets bashed for not agreeing with a point of view, make sure the information is out there so people can have a discussion rather than an argument. Just my thoughts.

I think what you are talking about is a Quadraplex with a common room in the middle and apts around the outside. You can have the door opening into a common area or open outside. Nothing wrong with that. It ultimately is one building with 4 apts. We live in a Duplex...2 houses attached...same with a quad. 4 houses attached basically. Not commune living ie 1960's etc :) where everyone had their own bedroom but shared everything else like bathrooms, kitchens, living areas etc.

It was a good experience for him Not one attacked him and all 3 knew where to get away from him :)....he says it was great growing up with them and when they started to die, he was so heartbroken as they were family. Teach your child to be gentle and make sure your cat has somewhere to go to get away from the child :)...keep the nails clipped and child trained and all will be fine...oh, and keep the kitty litter where the little kiddo cannot sample it lol .....string tied arounda door knob and latch,,,,open enough that the cat can get in but child cannot :)

well, you could invite the little girls that are already using a potty over for tea and crumpets. Honestly, I would assure you that once she sees these other children using the potty she will also want to be a big girl...at least within a week :)..otherwise, back off, she is telling you something, like, she still wants to be a baby just like the baby you had.....so you have to give her responsibilities that will make her a 'big girl' and potty might eventually be one of those things ;)...good luck whatever you do, just dont make a huge deal of it.
