It does happen, but that doesn't mean its happening or not happening with your friend, does it? A few people tried to suggest to me that my ex and maid were too close. I had to be polite and not give details, but only I knew that ex and I were long seperated (in the same home) and not only was he a closet gay, but then impotent too!!! :\: So what appears on the outside can be deceiving, I would often let the maid go grocery shopping with him etc, hence the reason for suspicions

I strongly doubt him dumping his ex had anything to do with him picking up the bill and more to do with you being a great person :) aah well :) Have you invited him on a date ever? Do so and clear its only if he allows you to pay the bill. Try that for starters. In this day and age I really really would.

That's exactly it! My friends AND family were shocked when I asked them this very question! They were like why on earth would you even offer? You offer first time only and if he rejects the idea then there is not much you can do but say thank you for dinner Either your friends are not being completely honest with you...or there's some of us living in a different century. I can imagine joking with girlfriends and telling them " hey why bother if he's paying ;)" but its just that a light conversation.

Btw - abby you do realise how you come across, don't you? Please try and see what majority of the women are telling you. My OH has insisted and paid bills for his ex-gf's, I told him he can forget his traditional ways with me, I wasn't having it.....and who is it that he proposed to :). These days I don't care as for me its the same pool that its eventually going from and he actually ends up paying more often now that we are comitted, having said that I do make it a point that some dates are my invites. This set-up where men pay for all bills these days is usuallly in relationships which are more let's say short-term geared or very traditionalistic families where the couple are meeting before their arranged marriage takes place! ETA - Even if short-term geared I think most of us self-respecting women would rather not 'owe' anything. edited by summerdream on 10/01/2011

Given my own and my kids allergies I should know :) But given I am of the female gender, I am terrible at giving directions!! There's a shop in Karama that also sells mattresses that does this, they have exclusive distribution rights as far as I know and this particular brand is not available anywhere. It is durable and even guaranteed for lifetime! Can be machine washed and doesn't give a plastic feel, with a breathable material. Now, I don't know the shop's name! Do you know where Adil supermarket is in Karama (You'll find it when you take the Karama exit when headed that way from Lamcy - well I warned you I am terrible at directions) Anyway the immediate right at Adil and park on your left hand side, its that shop there. I will try and check with a friend I directed :\: to that place, if she got the shop name.
