It's in the Ikea "wing". It's across from Ikea on the 1st or 2nd floor (I forget which one) and it's on the same side as Johnny Carinos. It's a corner store so pretty easy to find.

Google diaper cakes and you'll see hundreds of ideas but you can click here (I don't know this company just picked the first one on google) and see some examples. http://www.rattlecake.com/ girlfriend in the states makes them and they are adorable and useful.

On the subject of toys for the kids, I haven't been able to find the Fisher Price Little People toys here so if you have children, pick some up in the states. The Toy Store at MOE has a few of them but they are more for babies. Sallymaha, you can get Yankee Candles here.

Going to Orlando and New York in August, what things are good buys, will be buying clothes & shoes as a given, but what else is a bargain, or what American brands are good? For the brands, are you talking clothes for children, electronics? We'll go home to the states for August and I've already been shopping online and shipping everything to my MIL house so I can bring it back here. The cost of clothes here in Dubai is so expensive compared to the states. My boys need new shoes and flip flops but I refuse to pay the price here when I can get the flip flops from Old Navy for $2.50 each in the states. I always buy my boy's clothes at the end of the season and pay only a couple dollars for them and then store them until the next season when they fit, but now I can clean up on the great sales in August on summer clothes and the boys can wear them all year round here.

We are very happy in Arabian Ranches! We were in Abu Dhabi for three years in a high rise on the Corniche and while it was wonderful to be so convenient to everything and could walk to all the stores and restaurants, the city noise was terrible and wasn't for us. We had to keep the a/c going all night along with a separate box fan and noise machine to try to drown out the traffic noise at night and it still couldn't block out the racing engines and squealing tires. During the day it was constant construction noise and horns beeping from cars. We finally had enough and made the move here to AR and haven't regretted a minute. DH still does the commute to AD but it's not bad from AR and it's so quite here. At first we had problems getting used to the dead silence at night. LOL We love the floorplan of our house, love our neighborhood with all the sidewalks, pools and parks for the kids and I love how green it is here and I have a nice size yard for the boys and dog to play in with a huge swing set and lots of trees and flowers in our yard. It's more what we are used to in the states with the master planned communities. AR is in a great location and easy to get to Ibn, MOE, Dubai Mall, MCC; they are all easily accessible. At this stage of our life, with young children and a chocolate lab, AR is the best place for us.

I've never had a problem getting in and out of AR. We are in Mirador which is right next door to Savannah and we love our neighborhood. Savannah and Mirador have a separate lane for residents to enter unlike Saheel so sometimes Saheel can get a bit backed up to enter since you are in the line with taxis and workers, etc.

Duh! I didn't think about the Kodak places. I keep looking in Hallmark stores. I wanted one of the travel mugs that you unscrew the bottom and put the picture inside the clear plastic mug but I could do one of those printed pictures on the mug as well. Didn't think of that type. Father's Day in the states is this Sunday June 19th.

I was at the Green Community Choithrams and they had an ad for Golden Retriever pups for sale. Being the owner of a golden I can guarantee you that these were NOT pure bred. The going rate for labs or goldens that "claim" to be purebred are about 8000 aed. This is crazy!! You'll open up a can here and everyone will tell you to adopt a dog and not buy one from the pet stores/puppy mills. I too am one of those people but when you buy a breed you've researched then you know what you're in for, I understand that. You can't always guarantee a good dog that will fit your family with an adopted dog, hence researching a purebred. I get it, but perhaps find a reputable breeder in your home country and ship the dog. It'll probably be cheaper and you have a better chance of getting a pure bred and not some "purebred" from here. [b'>Or...lower your standards and go to K9 friends. [/b'>One look at those pups might change your mind. :\:

Maybe she doesn't know about what K9 Friends do? Maybe she thinks there's a stigma to dogs that are rescue dogs but after she sees them and gets to know about the program she'll realize there are some great dogs there? Maybe she'll even find a pedigree dog there? And maybe she'll find out that a pedigree dog can chew up a shoe just as fast as a rescue dog?

Exactly Embo, they are putting through that defense based on what CA claims to be the truth. Her lawyers can't tell her they think her story is hogwash, so they go with what CA is claiming to have happened whether or not they believe it's true. There have been lawyers in the past, not speaking of this case, that have asked to be released from a client b/c they don't believe their story adds up and they could not honestly defend them. But her lawyers press ahead with the trial and stand behind her when everyone knows she's the devil.

I think Caylee got in the way of mom's partying lifestyle. I thought I read somewhere that there was a guy that she was interested in but he flat out told her he wouldn't date a woman with a child. I think she put the duct tape over her mouth and nose to suffocate her and then when it actually killed her, she panicked and kept the body in the trunk for quite some time while she figured out where and how to get rid of the body. The defense is claiming that she drowned and they know full well that her body was too decomposed to find out if that was true by an autopsy, so they are "safe" with that story and that gets CA off the hook for murder since it was just an "accident" in the pool. I think the defense is hoping that she won't get a harsher sentence and the jury can only get her for not reporting it and dumping the body but are hoping a jury won't convict her on murder since, as the defense is claiming, it was only an "accident". I honestly don't know how her attorneys sleep at night. As far as cameras in the court room, it's different by state and by judge. Florida, where the trial is held, is pretty liberal with the use of cameras in the court room.

Both our boys are adopted and there was never an issue when we submitted their visas in AD. Since they both have passports with our last names and birth certificates with our last name, the adoption was never an issue. Do you have court documents stating you are the legal guardian or that you have adopted him? I'm of the belief that you give as little information as possible when applying for these things so you don't give them reason to deny you. If your nephew's last name matches yours and his passport matches your last name then don't tell them you are his guardians, just proceed as you would with your bio children.

No, they were almost 4 times the price as the mattresses we bought them and I figured they are young and could handle a no-name brand mattress. But we bought them in the states so I don't have a place here to recommend to you. Sorry. But even for non PBK mattresses they are still comfortable. I bunk with my four year old in his queen size bed when DH gets to snoring too loud and I need to get a good night's sleep. LOL

Both my boys have all PBK's furniture and bedding along with other furniture in the rest of the house by PBK. They survived an international move here so I can testify for their durability. LOL The sheets wash up well too and hold their color and their quilts can easily be washed and dried so no need to get them dry cleaned. The beds are going to be US sizes so you'd have to find mattresses that are the same US size.

I have 5 Terro traps out right now and just as many ants as I did before. I'm finally giving up on doing it myself and have Al Khaleej coming over tomorrow in the morning. I was having a problem with them coming in under the front door but I sprinkled some used coffee grounds at their entry spot and they haven't been in since. Safe for the dog and LO's in case they get into it. But the yard is over run along with the carport since they have several homes dug in between our bricks.

For those of you that say you buy local produce, where are you getting it from? I'm so tired of paying 50 dhs for a full cantaloupe, not a rock melon, from the stores around here. DH and I are ready to build some raised beds in the yard and start growing some of our own.

We flew Ethihad from AD to Moscow in coach and it was great. We always fly Delta business class so I was worried that we'd be crammed in the back on Ethihad but surprisingly we had plenty of room and the in-seat entertainment system had more movies and shows on it then we could possibly watch. DS was almost 4 when we flew them and he loved the after dinner hot chocolate. The flight attendants were twits and insisted that DH had to sit on the right hand side of the plane (the entire back was empty and we wanted to spread out) b/c of "balance issues" and DH told her that if his body sitting on one side of the plane or the other was going to cause the plane to crash, we all have bigger issues to worry about. But she wasn't budging, she would not let him take the empty row to spread out.

What is your definition of venetian blinds? What I call venetian blinds are the ones that run top to bottom and you can twist them open and also pull them open from left to right. We had our's down at Bestway Windows at the Dragonmart and they were inexpensive and fast and fit perfectly in the windows.

why would you not want it done by a semi qualified filipino who talks about you and moans about her job to her colleagues in a foreign language whilst digging a metal instrument so far down your nail shaft it bleeds. then buffing your nail so hard you barely have any nail bed left, then filing down your nails so short it wasnt worth you making the effort to grow them to get them looking nice?! This reminds me of the comedy sketch by Anjelah Johnson. I don't want to post the link but google Anjelah Johnson nail salon and you'll get the You Tube skit for it. She's on Mad TV and is the same lady that does Bon Qui Qui.

SunDevil, sticks of faceblock you can put on the children's faces can be found in Boots the Chemist. They do pink, blue or clear and they are 50spf. I find them better than the creams etc as they don't sting their eyes. Thank you! What is Boots the Chemist? I've heard of the Boots stores at the mall but don't know what the Chemist is. It's the same shop! Boots was original set up eons ago as a pharmacist and it's developed into the emporium that it is today over the years. Many Brits still refer to it as Boots the Chemist. Other people just call it Boots. Thank you! Sue62 I think they are talking about plain old Cheerios in the yellow box.
