Thanks Mara, already done so. I am hoping to find a family looking for a new placement for their maid/nanny because they are leaving the country & want to find a good family to take on their maid.

Yes, we have a 1 year old son. Why, does that change anything?

Well by renting a studio in AD he shouldn't loose it... That's what others in the company seem to be doing and no problems so far... Fingers crossed!

Thank you ladies, very helpful. My husband has already spoken to his HR and as it is a govt company he will loose only his housing allowance... But as I will be working in Dubai, we are ok with that plus he might get away with renting a studio or something... Our main concern was that we wouldn't be able to sponsor a maid in Dubai on the Abu Dhabi visa, but from what I understand now, that doesn't seem to be a problem :-) We gave a Abu Dhabi a go, but unfortunately it just isn't for us... Thanks again!

Hello, we have some Gripe Water (unopened Woodwards & Boots from London) that we no longer need. If anyone is after some, we are happy to give it away... just seems a shame to throw it out. We are based in Abu Dhabi, but will be in Dubai today Friday 6th if anyone there wants it. Thanks!

Thank you BellaUK for the reply. I will join the FB group and Abu Dhabi woman and hopefully make friends. I will miss my friends and our life in Dubai but I'm looking forwards to a new adventure. Right better start calling the movers!

The mother seems perfectly fine, but for some reason she keeps dropping him when going over the wall. She managed just fine with the 3 others. She disappears for a while but keeps coming back to try and take him with her. It is very sad to watch, but if we try to help she of course runs away... We will keep feeding the littler one but can't take him in as the mother will give up on him! We also have 2 of our own and can't take on anymore cats...

Hello, Does anyone know of a maid with driving license looking for work? We are in Dubai now, but will be moving to AD next month and will be looking to hire someone from May. She would have to be live out as we will not have space for a live in. We will be living in Raha Beach area. If you know of anyone, please let me know. Thanks!

I have been on bed then house rest for the past month due to pregnancy complications. My DH does most of the chores but to help him I have an agency maid (try molly maid they do two hour slots) twice a week and order most complicated meals from casseroleonline.com I can recommend their onion soup and lasagne very nice. You can freeze them and then reheat in oven. Also for washing, dry cleaning and ironing there are many companies that come pick up and drop off. Good luck :-) edited by Sunseeker123 on 07/09/2012 PS Casseroleonline do kids school meals also check them out edited by Sunseeker123 on 07/09/2012

Thank you Sami, I am so happy to hear that your little one is all well, it must have been such a relief to bring her home. We came very close to a c-sec at 27.3 weeks when my placenta ruptured and I bled a lot, but it all looks like it has stabilised for now. I am very tempted to rent a wheelchair, my DH is nervous about me getting out of the house but I will ask my OB if she says yes then fantastic, maybe I can finish the baby shop instead of him having to do everything. I am seeing her on Sunday so will find out then. For now I have Du, Sky, playstation, internet, books, magazines and friends coming round to keep me busy :-) MNMZ please take it easy I took it easy but guess what it still ruptured, I was just getting up from the couch when it happened. I hope it moves!!

Hi Sami Sorry for late reply, I did 5 days in hospital, two and a half weeks bed rest at home upstairs bedroom only with bathroom and shower privileges and now one and a half weeks more relaxed house arrest. I am hoping to last another 4 weeks to get to 36 weeks and then hopefully we will do the c-section. If you don't mind me asking how early did you deliver? I am 31.2 weeks today. Went a little stir crazy yesterday but its a mind over matter thing, I have good days and bad days. Thanks for the reply Sunseeker123

Now that makes a lot of sense! I think we will have to investigate tonight... come to think of it, we have a new tree planted on the street side and it has white flowers... could be the one! Guess not much can be done really :(

Thanks ladies. We are living in a 4M in Springs 14 and paying 80K a year. From previous discussions with the landlord, we got the impression he will be asking for 85k next year... We know of friends living in other 4Ms in the Springs and some are paying less, some the same and some more, ranging from 75k to 85k... that's why we were wondering if he can ask for 85k after the first year, as there are tenants who are paying that for the same type accommodation.

We will certainly push for a decrease, but knowing our landlord from dealing with him in the past year, it's going to be a struggle... Was hoping that he was not allowed to even ask for an increase, then at least we can try for a decrease but in the knowledge it won't go up! edited by Sunseeker123 on 21/06/2011

Thanks, that will be our starting strategy... but we live in a great location in the Springs and we are finding that places there are being snapped up and from speaking to neighbours they are paying the same if not more than us...

Thanks SueB. It was always on the cushion and then we bought a new sofa last month and started covering it with plastic sheets from the begining. So there was never any pee on this new sofa. But recently she keeps peeing on the plastic sheet that's covering the cushion part. This morning she managed to pee throgh the sheets and a bit got on the cushion! Will definatelty give it a go with putting the food there, never thought of that!

Thank you ladies, the Dubai London clinic sounds interesting DH just said he hears good things, do they do dentistry and general doctor medicine (GP?)? I don't want to be treated like a blank cheque that is the worst experience and I know dentists like to do that.

Thank you AdviceSeeker and Sanddy, I am mainly interested in dental as I fear I may need one soon :-( There is a Medows clinic in the Springs area I wonder if that has good general doctors. All advice is greatly appreciated

Hi MishC, I think the cat you are talking about is the one that Dubai2003 has been seeing. She mentioned that he has one of his ears clipped and that he use to have a collar. The cat that has been coming to ours is a different one to Dubai2003's as he doesnt have an ear clipped and is not neuterd. No collar either. We thought he had gone as we hadn't seen him since Thursday, but he came out of nowhere again yesterday screaming for food and was there again this morning! Good luck!

What about Pachanga at the Hilton Dubai Marina? I've never been but was told they serve South American food and they also have the option of Brazilian served in that sort of system...
