Not born and bred (but if you will accept an adopted woolybacker) i lived in Widnes for a couple of years before moving here. not the greatest location as i backed onto kingsway expressway... over looking the Bongs.... great memories of that place and the people i left behind.... I worked on sites all over, noteaby Stanlow Refinery (drilling boreholes...that was an experience). was active in the Air Training Corps (in Widnes) and regularly went to Huyton, Chester and Hooton Park squadrons... great part of the UK!!! editted to mention my fav......chips n curry sauce! Mmmm edited by Blueskies on 25/05/2011 With loads of salt n vinegar!!more Mmmmmmmmm!

Hi Nutty, We have lived in JVT for 2 years now and have [u'>never[/u'> experienced any problems with DU! All of your lights etc are electric BUT your cooker is gas. You do get a HUGE gas bottle from Looftah, not expensive, which is installed ouside your villa. now bear in mind we have had this gas bottle for nearly 2 years and it still has gas! there is only the two of us at home and i like to cook - so its lasts quite a long time. I think the painting will depend on your lanlord? I have lived in various properties and all have wanted any holes from picture hanging etc just filled over. The lanlord would normally give the place a lick of fresh paint before tenants arrive. That should not be the tenants job!

By pure accident this morning, found on YouTube a series called Celebrity Juice. It's the guy who was Bo Selecta who I loved a few years ago. Such wrong humour but for me so funny!!!! DS is now ensconced on the sofa watching them all (he is almost 19 by the way so he knows the way of life if you get my drift!!!!) HA! Leig Francis - AKA - Avid Merrion / Borat / Bo-Selecta - from Staines! hahaha! Loved his yellow tracksuits and his interviews taking the michael out of very serious people who had no clue! Noooo you're getting confused with Sacha Baron Cohen - who was Ali G and Borat! That wasn't Avid Merrion. Argh you are right Avid Merrion was the Ginger dude! with the neck brace! edited by SuzyQS on 24/05/2011

Her name is Karen 050 4671079 Hi Blink Think! In the past i have been so sceptical regarding hypnosis but i have heard so many success storis on EW that i think i may give it a go! Where is she based? I think i would have to be under her spell for a year with all my vices - food/drink/smoking/no motivation when it comes to excerising lol - where do i begin! How many sessions did you have to have to dodge the choclolate counter:)

Hi Can anyone tell me if MA human resources that is accredited by CIPD is good enough to pursue after an MBA? Anyone working in the human resources pls help also looking out for admin jobs in schools anyone comes across pls let me know! Rgrds adi Hello adi9 - Yes a MA HRM (CIPD-Accredited) is definatley a good choice of HR Qualification - CIPD is recognised internationally, most employers will request CIPD Status in Europe. It depends really on where you plan for you career to take you. i.e country! . i will be starting my MSc in HRM (CIPD) in Sept. Where are you studying for this qualification? Is it online or Uni based? Dubai only accomodates the lower level of CIPD Qualification?? So very interested to hear you response.

Im not sure what is worse though ... the shop that terrifies me is the Ibn Sana pharmacies in MOE and Dubai Mall.... I put one little toe over the front door and a horde of painted ladies descends on me like a pack and follow me around the shop pointing out things I dont need. I usually know exactly what I want and can get on fine on my own. I am happy to know that there is someone 30 feet away who I could call if neccessary but a team of extra limbs shuffling me around the shop made me crrrraaazzy. Last weekend I avoided them and headed into Carrefour only to find myself in an Ibn Sana lane with three people ready to pounce. I asked the first shadow to please leave me to shop in peace, and she scuttled off and joined the other two, who immediately took her place and wouldnt leave my side. I fled !! I am not sure how they train the staff in that pharmacy but it must be something like "If you see an expat woman, attack her with useless coo-cooing and she will be so grateful that she will spend bucketloads of cash" I know how to shop and may even have a phd in this field, and certainly dont need to be shadowed (especially by folk who have no product knowledge!) I like to shop in Debenhams where I can browse in peaceful blisss....... LOL... I agree!!! Ha i know! They are like a swarm of flies! You could do with a can of Pif Paf! ;)

So how did my fellow moosters do yesterday? I was good on the food front. Nothing even remotely tasty passed my lips ha! Exercise didn't quite work out as planned. Went for a powerwalk. Obviously it helps if you look the part. I went in my summer dress and flip flops... i know, i know! So had major thigh rub and flip flops are only meant for well um flip flopping not walking fast. My feet are killing! Oh and my handbag as I needed to go the shop! Ok so tonight Gym gear and trainers! Ha! Love it! Well, you would not think that this mooster is getting married in three months! i have 1 stone to loose and have all good intentions to start AFTER my 1 box of wine is finished! bearing in mind i am someone that thoroughly enjoys a glass of wine of an evening on a daily basis! How hard is this going to be!!! I have ordered the Dukan Diet book, so hopefully according to Dukan i will loose 7lb in first week - Check it out on google and expat women threads, it apparently works! Aslong as you dont drink wine!!!!! Who am i kidding! I will just have to be a mooster bride! me and the wine are far too attached! lol x

Hi, I get mine done by my long time hairdresser who used to work for Frank Provost and now manages her own salon called Belssima which is in Discovery Gardens. Its on speacial offer of around 400, i would say it lasts 3 month tops or it did with my hair, but so worth it. i would also mention that i had my hair coloured a few days before - Highlights n Low lights) and once done with Keratine the low lights where a lot lighter (But nicer actually) The condition of your hair is amazing and if you have frizzy / wavey / curly hair can make a huge difference. Yes! you have to buy the Brazilian shampoo and conditioner which are so lovely. I have booked my next lot for June! PS: Forgot to mention i have thick long wavy hair - and it makes blow drying straight actualyl enjoyable.

Ladies! I have tried four bookstores in my area and non have the Dukan diet book and it is on order but can take up to four weeks???? I have registered on Dukan (Not paid the fee) but just got my goal weight - i basically need to loose 1 stone. I am desperate to start ASAP as my wedding is in Sept. Do you think it wise if i start the attack phase now of just fish and eggs and boiled chicken and order the book myself off Amazon - which can take two up to three weeks. Or should i wait till i get the book and follow it from there. Does anyone know where the book is stocked?

I'm in the same situation, already married but having the big "do" in August and want to shed about half a stone. So, I've been eating healthy, fruit for breakfat, salad with tuna for lunch and a bagel, and then a sensible tea. Loads of water. Nothing was happening so I got the cross trainer out yesterday, and after 5 mins had to get off as I tough i was going to pass out/throw up/DIE!! And now I darent get on it again as I know I'm going to feel like this again. Aagghhh!!! Ha! Yorkshire pud! How funny is this! That is EXACTLY what i have been doing up till now! And i even went onto md partners cross trainer at the weekend, i dont even think i did 5 mins? But i had to sit on the bed and try to calm down my heavy breathing to slow down my heart! How sad is that! LOL! But i have now ordered the 30 day shred (Delivery in May!) But honeslty how the hel@ i will manage a hard 20 min workout when i nearly had a cardiac arrest on the treadmill i dont know! BUT from another forum - i have looked into the Dukan Diet and there is really positive feedback from other ladies on this site - and is doesnt seem that hard! some are stating to have lost a stone in 2 weeks! So Dukan is the way foward for me. so Magrudys here i come! :)

How much do you need to loose? Rememebring myself prior to the wedding - without extra effort i lost good 3 kg. Considering that my weigh was 54 kg minus 3 so by time of the wedding night i was arround 50-51. Trust me you will loose weight naturally with all the stress! Hi Lexie! To a person that has in all honesty never had to weigh herself before or watch th eweight until last year - i work in UK stone was just over 8stone n half when i arrived in mid 2008 now over 10stone 11pounds - seriousley would have to google the kg conversion lol! and at 35 yrs of age, Dubai has a lot to answer for!!!! its a weight watchers nightmare!!! Not sure the wedding stress will apply to me - as i have booked wedding in Mauritius - family are sorting them selves out and the wedding coordinator is sorting me out! ;) I just now have the sole responsibility / stress of loosing a blo!@dy dress size!

The best way to do it is to adapt your diet - cut down on sugary snacks, greasy food, soft drinks. As for exercise if you have never done it then start slow. You don't want to risk injury and then not be able to exercise. Start with 30mins on the treadmill 4/5 times a week and as you get fitter increase the speed and/or time. I am personally not a fan of cutting anything out especially carbs as your body needs to function. Plus it is not sustainable. You will eventually go back to carbs and gain back the weight you lost and usually gain a few extra pounds. You just need to make better choices i.e. choose wholemeal instead of white bread. I follow the extra easy option on slimming world and at this point exercise 4-5 times a week for 1hr 15min at a time. When I first started I did 45min - 30mins of cardio & 15 mins of floor exercises. I started slimming world in January 2010 and by May 2010 I had lost 32lbs. If you are interested just google slimming world and their website will come up. Best of luck! Wow! 5 months and 32lb is fantastic! i literally have 4 months until the big day. i will check out that site when i get home - thanks so much for the tips and advice :)

Hello Ladies, I have been checking out other comments regarding the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred on here and apprently the result are fantastic! Alhtough it does nearly kill you.!!!! That said i am past caring - i will give it a go - how hard can 20 mins a day be lol They have a montlhy 30 day shred thread going to help motivate the peops! Have just jumped onto the bandwagon and have ordered of Amazon - not coming until May 1st - anyone know best download site onto DVD? I do beleive in cutting out carbs also - not in the evening meal - but brown toast / brown sandwhich etc of morning / lunch can balance this out. i have not done it for a while! If i am totally honest my biggest problem is cutting out the glasses of wine i consume after a hard days graft! But that another thread;)

Its a recognised course - diploma 1 year long - i am defintely looking into it but so unsure of commiting to 3 nights a week!!!! If i was you i would get in touch regaridng daytime / weekend dates?

No stress - easy to arrange - and again not too expensive! would love to hear from people who have already done this!?!?! xx I could have typed this!!! We were considering Cyprus as that seems the most straight forward, however as a destination we really really want to go to the Maldives where you can't actually get married! So we're going to investigate getting married here on a Friday then honeymooning in the Maldives thereafter ....... I really have no idea where to start tho! I'm guessing a visit to the UK Embassy to see what they say re the actual ceremony and take it from there ..... Loopi Lotti! How stressful is it organisning or even trying to get the ball rolling when family outside of the UAE are concerned!!! I think personally we are now taking the Dubai church venue and a nice honeymoon in Asia or one of the islands! we were planning for early this yeafr. but i have now decided to put a date out there for sept (Maybe) if family come , family come and if they dont! I dont really care now! may even go for an earlier date? let me know what you find out? i have already looked into it and its not too difficult! only thing we are lacking is birth certs which we have to order from UK on-line. and believe me its not too expensive. anyway KIT as it would be nice to hear how you are getting on also. On another note - there is a FAB women that does amazing wedding dresses to suit in montexa, Satwa and it does not damage the budget!

Me n my other half, after 11 long n lovely years have finally decided to tie the knot! 36 years of age and so want to start trying for children. has anyone any suggestions on weddings and venues - just the two of us for quickness - was thinking Thailand or maybe Dubai. No stress - easy to arrange - and again not too expensive! would love to hear from people who have already done this!?!?! xx Ha! I was actaully looking at that but a little expensive! i am thinking of a two week holiday (as we sooooo need it) and finish off with tying the knot! Dubai is the easy option but not really speacial as we live right by the church! altough if i am really moaning about price - i suppose we could jump a cab , get to church and get home in time for a cuppa tea! lol x well i am still surfing the net and Thailand is looking good! i WAS looking at Bali but its a little troubled there at the moment or so i have been told!

Ok Dusit Laguna - have to say we went there years back and again last year - and we were not dissapointed - fantastic location & resturant chioces. You are not limited because you are surrounded by a group of 5 star hotels - if you are a guest at any of the hotels you can jump in one of the traditional boats to take you from one hotel to the other, to dine in differen t resturant and for change of scenery! The good aspect of this was even though you are staying in Dusit you can travel by boat to an other hotel resturant and still charge you bill to your room in your hotel! How fantastic is that! Would definatley give it the thumbs up for you!!!! you will not be dissapointed - and for soemthing more low key there is like a village close by with various resturants / bars etc...

I think it all depends on being with the right person - you will no he is right as you will have no regrets and will never look back! I have been with my guy for 11 years and still find him sexy and attractive! and when he is away i get so excited when he is due home! As long as you have humour, silliness and keep the cuddling alive, its all good! - my guy can be a big clown at times but i wouldnt change him. Dont get me wrong we can argue like the best of them but its forgotten in an instant. As for your friends! then they are either extremely unsatified in their current relationships that they have regrets i.e. they have not found the right person. Just sit back and chill and dont worry too much about it - there will be a time for you when you least expect it! So dont go out there looking! What will be will be and when you find that guy for you, you will have no doubts about marrige then! Just get yourself out and making new circles of friends and ENJOY life now! you never know who you will bump into?!?!;)

Max (the electronics shop in Oasis) has a few steamers going. They have a bissell steam cleaner - in SA we know it as the big green clean machine and it's only AED1200. Saw it about a week and a bit ago. OMG - Is this how sad my life has become - you have just mentioed the BGCM and i got really excited! Oasis is the first port of call tomorrow - i hope they still have it in stock! Thank You x
