Thank you for the clarification i was getting anxious that i have been misinformed by them. It is so annoying this is the case. I have had real difficulty in contacting the churches and finding someone to marry us legally as none of us are christened. Hmmm I also emailed the church last week and you've just reminded me - I haven't heard back from them! I emailed a couple about three weeks ago and not one has responded to me so i also need to follow it up Sounds like we're in the same boat then! Ladies i had the same problem and in the end could not do with the extra stress of coordinating all of this. in the end i booked a fab 2 week honeymoon in Mauritius for this Sept and we are also having an outdoor civil wedding there (not a beach wedding). i have not had to lift a finger with the arrangments all done for me which is exactly what i wanted. only immediate family will be attending and we get a fab lux holiday too with the money that it would of cost us to spend on blessings and receptions . Originally my heart was set on Dubai but that soon changed. Wow Mauritius was on my list as well. We had a really bad experience. We original booked our wedding at another hotel and they actually cancelled our wedding booking as the owner wanted his own event there. As our date is popular there was only two hotels i could find willing to accomodate us and they were more expensive. I am really happy with our new hotel now but if i was to do it over again i am not sure if i would choose Dubai. It seems we have a lot in common Suzy both live in JVT with dog(s) and are both getting married! Ha! i know! I chuckled to myself throughout today seeing your / my posts and thinking how canny is that! You would think neither of us had anything better to do today lol! I am even actually in work! lol! :)

I am so annoyed about this exit being closed. I live in district 4 and it is very annoying now to drive all the way down to the petrol station exit. I have logged a complaint with Nakheel along with some of my other friends who also live in JVT but have had no response. There is another exit apparantly which takes you to spinneys at the springs but i havent tried it yet. Hi Bracey777, do you know where the exit for Spinneys is in JVT? Is it by the main security lodge? it would save me so much weekend bother if they had opened that?

I have had to revert back to Gate 2 Nutty, which is just after the Petrol station and by main security lodge. Its actually better for anyone living in District 8. and it doesnt add to your journey time at all especially if you live by the main seciruty lodge (If i remeber rightly you will be soon) The other route was a pain anyway as you had to drive slow over the bumps and humps in the road.

I know it has lyrics, but I once went to a wedding and they had a young lady singing the most fabulous version of Ave Maria I have ever heard, really beautiful. Just as an aside, if you have your music on CD, make sure the person queuing up the music for your grand entrance has a clue. When we got married, I wanted the traditional wedding march, so handed in a CD with it on, even marked the track number and ended up wandering down the aisle to some unknown rubbish classical drivel no-one had every heard of. Awful! Cheeky Monkey - i actually love that song but i am still not 100% My main concern is exactly what you have said ! i dont want the entrance to soundi tinny or cheesey if you know what i mean! i am going to listen to various versions of Ave Maria - but yes if they fluff up my walk there will be helll to pay!

Second Copper Chimney - had it last week and it was lovely. Will last you a few sittings and order the popadums too - really got a bit of poke to them :) copper chimney is good and shelly i think you are talking about papadums ;) its a south indian word for papad. We love the Copper Chimney - mind you, the servings are huuuggge :) I adore their okra, in particular. What does papad mean in South Indian, then, please? You cannot go wrong with BritBalti in international city. from the UK and great people that own it! the food is amazing and i live in Jebel Ali and the food arrives piping hot! i have tried many, copper Chimney, Brick Lane etc etc. but the Brit Balti is our weekend treat PS - The Copper House is from Pakistani origin and a bit spicey i feel- the Brit Balti is UK/ Indian Origin lol, in my eyes its the best! edited by SuzyQS on 09/06/2011 edited by SuzyQS on 09/06/2011

You were wondering when she was last in heat you said. So she is not spayed. If that is the case, that is why she is humping the poor puppy lol..get her done. First of all, stop freaking out. You will scare an already timid dog. It might be a good idea to separate them for the time being so the puppy is safe from the horney female. Dont spray water in her face...just separate them, it is natural for unspayed or neutered animals to do this when in heat and male dogs do it all the time if their neutering has been left to long. Anyway, dont scare the dog just separate them and give the female a big pillow to hump. Ha SueB, how funny about the pillow, i was saying to my OH that i may buy her a teddy lol! I thought it had something to do with her season and you are right i do need to get her spayed, Bonnie aswell. but the problem i have is they are really inseperable regardless of the humping, they eat sleep and play togethar. the problem i am worried about is the stitches as they play pretty rough - so im thinking its not a good idea until they calm down as they really cant be seperated i tried that once at eating time only (As Bonnie is a little fatty and eats Millies food) They both start wining. So i dont really know how to go about this? apart from provide her a pillow or teddy for some relief LOL. ps, She only gets amourous in the evenings????? edited by SuzyQS on 09/06/2011

Funny post and I'll refrain from making any comments as they would show as rude. ;-) Humping is a sign of dominance or wanting to be dominant. You need to train that out of them with a firm No or a tap on the neck 'Dog Whisperer style'. You should watch that show, He rocks! You may be right that she is trying to show dominance, as the elder is normally quite timid and very well behaved, were Bonnie is Bonkers, fearless, partially trained and constantly play fighting to the point of annoyance. so yeah maybe she is trying to be more dominant. Idid really shout at her yesterday and i dont want to do that to her as she is such a lovely timid girl, so maybe the spray is better? do you think?

Omg! it turns my stomach! i was watching her 'At it' again last night - trying to figure out when she was last on heat... the poor pup doesnt know whats going on and the elder will try to mount her any which way she can! After much shouting 'no' on my part i had to smack her bum - it was freaking me out!:\: edited by SuzyQS on 09/06/2011

I just found my gardener sitting in the street looking very unwell. I brought him inside and gave him cold drinks and let him cool down until he seemed better. It is getting really hot out there and despite giving him water and pepsi at 08:00 he was obviously suffering from heat exhaustion/ dehydration. I hope that his other customers would do the same if they see other outdoor workers looking this way. My hubby and i did that not so long ago and offered him headache tablets and a litre bottle of water! Now - everday without fail he will tap on the patio door for his regular daily bottle of water! we never told him to, he know seems to expect it and i cannot say no! Seriousley i am buying extra boxes just to keep him dehydrated. i just fill up empty bottles and put them in the fridge, get a water filter and attach it under the sink...much cheaper!!!! I may actually do that! i think what is annoying me more is he is not very nice or appreciative. he knocks, say's in what i can only describe as a harsh tone 'water', and i will then run the fridge and give to him and then he just nods and walks away. now i know the language barrier is there but a smile would be really nice. Sorry to rant but my gardner is annoying me.

I have been in Dubai a couple of years and have a lovely husband and no kids..yet, we are both mid thirties. However, I am really struggling with friends, I had a friend I met through work who left a few months ago and from then am really at a loss to meet normal, down to earth people who just want a laugh and no bitchiness or competition in terms of who has what or does what. I am a really warm person as is my hubbie but we really feel that we are not clicking. Yes it probably is us but wondering if anyone else feels the same? We both work hard and have one or two friends but dont have that real group mentality that it feels like everyone else has here. We joke that we are so glad we still enjoy each others company after all these years but I just want to know if we are in the minority or does anyone else feel like this??? Hi Sunglow, I could of wrote this myself! we also joke that it is good that we still enjoy each others company. and i have found it so hard to meet like minded down to earth people! I think it is so much easier for others with kids to meet friends. People suggest gyms, coffee morning, join a club but that just aint me! Miss my girls from the North! :(

Go onto the dukan uk site and calculate you true weight. Once you've put in all your info the site will generate a graph tovshow how many days you should be on each phase and also show you how much weight you should lose in each phase. When I did mine it calculated that I should lose only 1,3kg in attack phase. You are correct that exercise starts in the second phase but if you are feeling up to it then why not start your daily walks. Good luck and keep us posted. I have the book if you need me to look up any more info for you. Thanks for the advice Gem. I was so dissapointed with myself last night as i succumed to a pack of Thronton chocolate Toffees! Felt so guilty afterwards - so now i am at this diet with a vengance. i will go on to the Dukan website and see the weight loss it recommends. Still no more wiehgt loss - heres hoping next week is better!

Hello Ladies, I need advice. Because all of the books seem to have sold out - and i am running out of time fast until me wedding. i started the attack phase on Monday (As i got informtion from my.dukandiet.co and other various diet websites) I have only ate boiled chicken, lean ham, eggs, 1 lean steak, salmon and 1.5 litres of water and green tea n coffee. i am only 53 and weigh in at 63.8 and i am now only 63.00, i honeslty thought i would loose more than that? And it will be my last day tomorrow - should i carry on with the attack phase?? I have not excercised though as i thought you start the excercise on the next phase? is that right?

Some little things that made life easier on the attack phase for me were; non-fat frozen Yoghurt chocolate flavour from Marble Slab, Packets of Smoked Salmon for Lunch and ready roasted Chicken for evening meal with some onion gravy. Recently I have also started heating skimmed milk and adding Fat free hot chocolate powder which honestly tastes no different to the normal stuff. This diet really is easy once you get used to it. I have lost 4.5 Kg since the 9th May just another 4 to go till true weight edited by jenna7jenna on 31/05/2011 Mmmmmm! Your menu is making my mouth water - i will start this next week after my attack phase!

Fida in Satwa for threads and all haberdashery-otherwise back of all the Al Washia stores in the malls for thread and needles. Also-but more expensive-Craftland at Town Centre and the Bernina patchwork shop in Jumeirah Plaza (the pink-roofed one). You may have to order your patterns on-line from McCalls or some such edited by wuffles on 31/05/2011 Thank you ladies, i am out and about on Saturday, at least this gives me some direction x

I have an appt on Sat - she is in Bur Dubai and i have a location map if you would like it - 0501656598 and speak with Pelin herself. I dont know why but i feel a women tailor in this part of the country would be a better fit to understand womens fashion???

Hi, Most employers in the UAE will ask for a degree (which is also a requirment for a working visa) but if you contact a freezone company you dont necessarily need a degree. What you do need to have is work experience. have you got any experience within an office environment / reception etc.. at least this would springboard you into the Dubai workforce. So many people doctor the CV to suit the specific job they are going for. tragic but true and i hate to say it sometimes necessary! i have worked in recruitment and HR for many years and this is very common. can you not adapt your current experience to emphasise all the skills / experience & knoweldge you may have gained with computers and an office environment whilst working in physio and take the emphasis off Physio? Roles such as receptionist / office admin etc. There is a recruitment company that has a strong emphasis on temp supply. if you where to contact them they can possibly advise you and help you with your CV - at least this way you will gain the right experience that will start to open doors within a different industry. also try contacting the British Embassey directly as i know a few ladies (Who have been out of work for some time with children) have received temp positions and sometime led to perm. Or any British company within a freezone! Once you have adapted your CV that is ;-) I will try to get that agency name for you?

Just over from Satwa is Pelins Tailoring in Meena Bazar. She is WONDERFUL! She made my wedding dress from scratch based on photo's of a dress I liked and the end result is stunning! Her attention to detail and passion for what she does shines through in abundance, and Pelin herself is lovely. Wedding dresses aside she'll copy anything, I have pretty much my whole (very worn out and tired) work wardrobe lined up ready for her to copy!! I originally found her via a recommendation on here so am glad to pass on that recommedation having used her first hand. pelinstailoring@gmail.com 050 1656598 Loopy Lotti! Thank you for that post. i also need a wedding dress for Sept which is to be copied from a picture. I did find one other dressmaker but she is far to expensive for me to pay out that money for an informal / intimate beach wedding. Is Pelin expensive? i have sent her a email with my pic, so hopefully she will see me on Sat????

The OH is back in Chester at the moment and assures me not much has changed since we left. I am brimming with jealousy though that he is planning to hit the town tonight and get drunk in actual bars rather than hotels!! He saw you can get a 4-bed in JVC for 95k so now he thinks anything above this is ludicrous money, never mind the fact that JVC appears to be a row of houses in the middle of a construction site. Anyone live in Waha or Layan? Any good? Maybe I should do a search. Layan - is further out but the villas are really nice and at least they have a swimming pool and shops. i really would consider looking there if you need more bedrooms but have a budget. :)

No worries hun, we didn't know they were there until a friend showed us and they dont come up very often. 300sqft bigger with a utility room but smaller garden. Thanks Nutty! Its interesting to know - especially about the upstairs lounge being big enough to convert to the 3rd bedroom. family plans will soon be on the way and we could do with an extra bedroom - really dont want to leave JVT. When you move in, you will have to invite me round for a cuppa, so i can have a nose;)

No the townhouses that i speak of are in the triangle, there are only a few blocks of 1 bed and 2 bed ready but loads due to be released in 6 months or so. The triangle is next to the springs and the circle is on the other side of the Khail road as seen on wiki map or dubizzle. Oh ok - i knew we had 1 bed townhouse, have yet to see the two? apologoes to all for my mistake!

The Townhouses that Nutty is on about are in JVCirlce - i have seen the town houses and they are huge. with regards to JVC road access - no clue. I think Dubai Cat you are best to have a drive around and view both, only then will you see if it is something you can live with - yes cheaper rent and peaceful and big - but also under developed! Your more than welcome to have a nosey around my place if your driving by! :)

Hi Suzy QS Can I butt in and ask a couple of questions? Sorry nutty :) but hopefully they'll be useful to you too! Are the villas big there? And how do you find getting in and out? And do restaurants deliver? Thanks. I need to work out where it actually is, as well :D. The villas are all two bedroom with a maids room downstairs (We use that as a store room) the villas are very big n spacious! The Master bedroom is huge with huge bathroom and walk in closet. the second bedroom is a good size with built in wardrobes and its own walkin shower bathroom. The landing upstairs is a decent size also and can have a futon / single bed if need be. Downstairs is open plan and a nice size - they are very pretty and well built villas. The best feature are the Gardens - which are huge!! not forgetting the upstairs BIG varanda patio style. All in all - You get a lot of space for your money - and especially for a 2 bedroom. You be glad to hear lots n lots of resturants deliver there are no swimming pools or parks as of yet. well there is a sort of park at the front where mums take there kids for fresh air or walk doggies but it is lacking greenery and childrens play areas. Nakheel are certanly taking their time. Shops - None! a garage you can walk to easily but that is is! But it still does not bother us - you can take a short cut to the Springs choitrham or spinneys via car. It is next to Springs / Emirates living on the Emirates Road towards Jebel Ali. Very peacefull area with great quiet neighbours - we are quite happy there :):)
