Edem, do you have her email address at all? I did see another doctor and was really not happy with her so am hoping to somehow get myself seen by Dr Elsa

Thank you Michamen and DubaiCat. Both really useful responses. We have only just moved here a couple of months ago so definitely within the 5 year limit. If we do have to pay your figures DubaiCat have given me a rough idea albeit I know it will probably vary between hospitals and parts of the UK. Thanks again.

I'm off to the UK mid march so will hopefully be able to see my GP then. I am so glad I posted though as I had no idea there was an option of keeping your NI contributions up to date. Assume you just have to call your local tax office to set this up?

Thank you for your responses. Very helpful to read given how much I am panicking! DubaiCat do you mind if I ask how much you had to pay - interested to know given the terrible experience I had in the London maternity wards last time round.

Has anyone had all their antenatal care in Dubai and then gone back to the UK for the birth? If so how did that work out? I mean in terms of getting yourself booked into a hospital, use of your Dubai antenatal records etc.

Does anyone know if you can use shop and ship to buy and ship furniture to your address in Dubai?

Thank you - I expect you are right and am just worrying myself for no reason. I am just not used to vitamins being added to milk! I have now made an appointment with a Dr so will confirm but your responses are reassuring in the meantime! Sadly Dr Elsa was booked up until May so have to try someone else.

That's very true - have just checked what I got - sorry should have said we only got the quilt and quilt cover, pillows and pillowcases from ikea - no sheets for the exact reason Sue62 has just written!:) edited by SXI on 03/12/2011

Thanks SueB. I think we will try and go to Satwa later today. higlandlass - ikea and homecentre were both out of stock for the bed I wanted. Ikea had a couple of other single beds in stock but they were more expensive. I did pick up all her bedding from there though so still thought it was worth the visit.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can buy a bed for our maid? Tried Ikea and Homecentre and their beds are either out of stock or they cannot deliver for a few weeks.

Can anyone recommend a good GP (preferably near Arabian Ranches but actually I just want someone good even if it is a bit further to go) - I need to take my one and a half year old to the doctor asap as she has been ill all night...:(

I did join Ranches Ladies and went along one Tuesday when there was no speaker. It's a good gathering but I have a one and a half year old and heard from someone that they do not like you to bring kids if there is a speaker so with no family/childcare here that kind of cuts out the Tuesday morning option and they don't seem to be doing anything for mothers and toddlers at the moment.

Thanks - we're going to look into this a bit further when we go down to the immigration dept with the old sponsor on Sunday. Will let you know what I find out.

Thank you for your replies. I think the fact I haven't started work yet may be part of the problem! Will try one of the coffee mornings to start with and see how it goes..... Btw, lost in the city, I like your name - it's exactly how I feel all the time here!
