I'm always entertained when I read expat woman and I really do miss Lolacat! My advice, as a former teacher, with friends working at Foremarke and my daughter at Hartland, is go and visit both schools. Meet Alistair at Foremarke and Jenny at Hartland and find out what sits behind their ethos, what drives them, and what do children think about each school. I wasn't aware of any issues at Foremarke so I was surprised to read that.

I think you'll find there are places everywhere as there are new schools everywhere and plenty of choice. It's not like before. We were offered places at Victory Heights, Kings, Jebel Ali and Hartland. We settled on Hartland because of the small class sizes and their ethos. So far, we're really happy with our choice and our daughter loves her teacher. I would visit as many schools as possible and get a feel for each one as one person's recommendation is another person's reservation.

JESS is an absolutely amazing school. Great teachers, great facilities, great reputation and not for profit. I've trying for years to get my daughter in without any luck. Honestly, Foremarke doesn't come close. If you get offered a place at JESS, you take it!

Wow! This forum is rather heated. I think it all comes down to personal choice and what is right for every individual child. I went to an all girls' grammar school that was highly academic and very strict. Would this environment be right for me child today? I'm not so sure. As a former teacher, I've worked in lots of schools and it's interesting reading the discussion from a parental and teacher perspective. Finally, without any commission, I have chosen Hartland for my daughter in FS1. My husband has previously worked in Dubai College, The British School Al Khubairat in Abu Dhabi and other international schools. We chose Hartland because the approaches matched our needs. Nothing else.

Hi Thaik. I've signed my daughter up to Hartland which is close to the Villa. I've been really impressed by their management and because they're a new school, the class sizes are small. This is their website: www.hartlandinternational.com Let me know if you need any more information.

Hartland International School is a new school, it's close to the Al Ain Road and the Al Khail Road and easy access to Mirdiff. They're having a Meet the Principal this weekend at the Arabian Ranches. https://www.facebook.com/events/1549780935306122/?sid_reminder=5938433649891344384 There are other schools such as The Villa, Kings Nad Al Sheba, Repton, GEMS Al Khail etc all within the same travel route. Hope this helps.

I have friends in Foremarke and I know a parent that recently registered for Hartland International School. Both Schools offer different models of education; Hartland seems to focus on the individual child and they also have a longer school day. Foremarke are obviously a sister school from the UK with a traditional approach, summarised very well by New Momma 11.

The Principal looks great and to see a School so far along in the construction looks fab! I think they are a welcome to Dubai-scene, regardless of where the teachers come from.

Yes! I called them and they're not charging for registration at the minute either. Is that normal for Schools in Dubai?

Lots of people work from home, either by agreement with employer or with a free zone visa. I think it's fie and have done for a while.
