interesting to read about botox for sweating...i suffer from sweaty face, forehead all the time no matter how fit I am - my father's genes bless him - so I was wondering about how botox might help..but I assume the sweat has to come out somewhere??? anyone else have botox with success for this reason?

Hi Rose There is a meetme group for people with bipolar in Dubai - the people there are lovely. There is also Dr Gregor in Dubai Healthcare City as a psychologist for medical treatment. He may recommend CBT therapists which I hear help immensely too. Wishing you all the best edited by tattler on 26/08/2014

just emailed. Emaar it says they will take 2 days to reply. it will mean no more icecream vans at private parties or the regular routes. such a shame as there is no good reason for it and not complaint related

I understand the guest thing - and petitions can fall on deaf ears blah blah - but maid employers are being exploited in just as many ways as some maids are being exploited; having runaways, items stolen, kids left alone as they do a runner and really awful situations and there is no full safeguards. do we all have to just accept that this is the way - how would the world be if we all just did that? so I am purely looking at any constructive collective thought to see if there is a better way to employ/contract and safeguard....as the current system is clearly not working..... which is somewhat of an extension of such situations as raised here http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/general/uae-maid-rules-stacked-against-sponsors-1.1222644

just re-read - if married in the UK and you are from the UK don't entertain sharia law EVER..it might not at all go well...stick to UK..if you come out here he does hold rights to ...re facing him it can go in two directions: either a lion backed in to a corner and feeling threatened will go for the jugular... so think through all scenarios as someone else said; hope for the best, fear the worst...or he may turn loving and mushy and kind and tell you that you are being silly and make you feel a fool, but you know deep down by the sounds of it ...anyway as said, all the very best

this may be likely little use to those real sufferers but what about those sleep clinics like at American hospital etc where you can go there overnight and they test - sleep apnea etc Do they help? more curious question than anything.. would white noise help instead of ear plugs? a friend used that for their baby so they wouldn't get woken up by the mosque every morning and worked in that case to mute noises.. insomnia is a definite curse. all the best with it. it seems like more and more people i know are having trouble sleeping. it stress the main cause. what would help people here do you think? are there no specialists?

I run a business and I've not heard of % fees - particularly not on a new unproven business. The rate I was quoted for a company that is audit quality is 4-5K per month. An official annual audit was a lump sum - can\'t recall exactly but most don't need official audit unless selling the business or seeking investors

as heart wrenching as the thought of upsetting the life you otherwise enjoy and the kids (back at school likely in a week) it would be advisable to speak to a lawyer tomorrow and consider any way to delay your return with some kind of excuse as not to over alert your husband (the kids won't miss much with a week delay ) just until you can sort through your emotions and make a sound decision for the long term future rather than be up against a few days deadlines as to whether to turn your life on its head. if a woman is fairly certain her husband has had affairs they are usually absolutely right. getting jobs if you have not been in the workforce a while is very hard; if you don't have really great maid backup surviving as a single mother is not at all easy; there is no guarantee he will continue to pay $ to you for the kids....this is the sad reality but you have done a great thing by at least taking the first step and reaching out to ask for guidance. good luck with whatever you decide

I really feel for your situation and know only too well so many others have been through the same. Friends had great luck in first speaking with lawyers. I know there's a lady Mary Barton at JamesBerry lawyers in Dubai - she will guide you over the phone or email. Yes very hard to keep the lid shut on so many emotions - some people can do it, but some people understandably can't. First call a lawyer and find out about how Sharia is treated here. I have heard the courts err in the favour of the men, but then again it is case by case and if there is no need to divorce via sharia (ie you aren't muslims married here but from UK or overseas then there are other avenues). In nearly every case of divorce I have had with friends over the years and even my own situation - if you think that the man will look after you or won't do this and that, they often if not always do not put you/kids first amid a split/in the long term (horrid to tar all with the same brush, just averaging out the experience of the many divorcees I know). Pamela Haidat is another great lawyer in Duabi and can help guide you to know your rights - you can then act on that - [email protected] edited by tattler on 24/08/2013

I've tried 4 'swimming coaches' lately and there are soooo many unqualified people. just because you are a PE teacher or fitness coach or an swim yourself does not mean you can teach swimming IMHO (water confidence, good strokes etc). many of the freelancers are just not qualified or good for the kids and their swimming development sadly - and for the prices too. Not so much a fan of the group classes so will keep looking at options but likely will go for swim academies as at least then they are structured and backed by qualified approaches

I just did mine just this week. of course everyone is different in circumstance. I didn't want to go to the usual will sellers here as they would just sell you a will regardless (born cynical) so I went to independent lawyer and got advice: what I gained was a 'bridging document' quite similar to a will however upholds your home country will plus temporary guardianship legal papers to appoint temporary guardians in the event anything untimely happens as parents. The bridging document basically upholds my home county Will and overrides Sharia'a law (being Christian). If it helps the lawyer I used Pamela was most helpful and sorted it out quickly and easily to ensure all was in place. She may be able to assist you also: Pam Haidat via [email protected]

Ordered last week and it is sublime food - and so cheap. The owners used to be neighbours so I sure they would be horrified to hear this - did you contact them directly via the restaurant ? as small business owners I am sure they would value the feedback rather than slander over a dish or two? The food is truly top rate. Singaporeans and Thai people (by origin) tell me it is the most authentic meals in Dubai. So sorry you had a bad experience but (a) talk to the management and ask rather than forum tyraid and (b) to everyone else let you tastebuds be your guide, order some yourself (the cheapest market research ever with the added bonus of yummy food) Ordering from there loads, I can guarantee nothing has gone downhill. never had an issue; never had a bad meal; never been anything but over the moon about this place. It is on my speed dial and my internet bookmarks. So make up your own mind and vote with your tastebuds. In fact just writing this is making me hungry: Chimes: Al Barsha - 04 324 4211 PS: the Singaporean chicken rice is great for kids and fussy eaters, My boy also adores it.

just horrific..i followed it via abc news constantly and couldn't sleep...that must have been such a scary night and now such a horrendous clean up and loss to so many. great that major centres were not as affect - yes a miracle for sure - but lots of devastation and affect to lives, livelihoods and property.......so sad. my heart goes out to everyone affected and anyone who had to go through in (there amid the cyclone or worries families here or anywhere)..just awful

yes something Vermont - which also seemed a strange name of a local football team. just feel it is dubious so be warned not to give money to these kids without some form of ability to check the cause. they had a photocopied sponsors form with signatures suggesting people were giving AED150++. just didn't feel right and I could be wrong but does not seem right...??

stop reading them perhaps? just a tip.... sure from an outsider's viewpoint this can all look torturous to read however you have a stranger living in your house often looking after your family members - so any number of things can happen, taunt, concern, drive you mental.... what would be really entertaining is if the maids had their own forum as posted about all of us. now I'd be up for reading that on a daily basis ;-)
