gulf news (the only newspaper my company follows when announcing holidays) says that the days are Mon Tue Wed (basically first day of holiday is the Hajj day and then two days of eid)... that depressingly means that i will have to work on sunday and then again on thursday... any sickies taken on those days wouldn't go unnoticed at work :( What about Arafat Day? Eid Al Adha holidays in October are to begin, according to Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (Iacad), on Monday, October 14 - the Waqfat Arafat day. They will, thus, be off from October 14, Monday until Wednesday, the 16th. Private sector employees will return to work on Thursday, the 17th.

As per the most articles I have read, they state Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday "They will, thus, be off from October 14, Monday until Wednesday, the 16th. Private sector employees will return to work on Thursday, the 17th." edited by Tazmin on 30/09/2013

There are two shops open, one in desert and one in Arabian, the bigger shops are meant to be opening by Eid (!). Deerfield Carrefour opens on Saturday which is less than 10 mins away. Never heard of any damp problems. There are parks in each village (except contemporary which isn't open yet). Swimming pools in 3 villages and downtown. A nursery is opening in downtown this month apparently
