Are you planning on getting married before Christmas? Unless u are married your Fiancé won't be able to sponsor you so you would have to do visa runs until you found a job, and it is illegal for un married people to live together ( tho it does happen). What type of role are you looking for? This will help us to guide you regarding job opportunities. Where will you Fiancé work be based? Depending if it's on or off island will depend on the best place for u to live

1. Apart from indoor play areas, that's pretty much all there is in Abu Dhabi even in winter. Most people are at the beach, at the malls, pools or water parks. The parks are watered with the same water! 2. Glass bottled water is expensive and as most of us use bottled water for cooking etc as well, would be very expensive. You can get filter for the showers and kitchen sinks etc but I doubt they would remove as many impurities as you would like. I would say IMHO that the UAE isn't for you, how would you have control over water at yr children's school, swimming lessons for example

I would say it's easily 20 mins when there is no traffic, which is like never :-). I used to work a few streets back from Wahda and it would take on average 30-35 mins. Some days it could take 1-1 1/2 hrs if there was an accident on Salam Strret. It's much quicker coming home though, prob less than 30 mins. Al raha beach is mainly apartments with a few townhouses, al raha gardens are the villas - these two areas are separated by a large busy highway, the main road to Dubai edited by Tazmin on 25/07/2014

It started in the shoe shop next to Costless, but quickly spread to Costless and damaged quite a bit of stock - not sure how long it will be out of action tho, but there are other branches in Abu Dhabi

Every concert I have been too at Yas the main act has started at 9.00pm, apart from the diva Madonna!! The gates "usually" open at 7.00pm with early doors getting access from 6 ish. Usually last for between 1 1/2-2 hours apart from the legend mr Paul McCartney who performed solid for 3 hours edited by Tazmin on 22/05/2014

Hi michaela, there are 4 villa villages in al reef Arabian, desert, meditterranian and contempory. There is also the apartment village that is called downtown. Each village has it's own pool, gym and most have parks. There is a shop in Arabian and desert and the large supermarket will open in August, eventually there will be coffee shops, dry cleaners etc and they could be any time (the building shells are complete). There is a takeaway restaurant in Arabian but all the malls closeby deliver etc. 10 minute drive gets you to waitrose, two new malls and yas island (where there are numerous bars and restaurants - 5 quid taxi ride! Al reef has a really good bus service which can get you into the city, beach, malls etc for 80p. There are a couple of streets that suffer from airport noise mainly in desert and Med, We live in Arabian and don't hear it much. Each villa has it's own car parking space (or 2 depending on the size of the villa) with plenty of additional spaces in the street. Been here 3 years now and wouldn't move back into the city. It will be a 10 min commute for your husband and if there isn't a school bus service there are plenty of people willing to share the school runs. If you have any further questions just ask :-)

I did this flight last October, despite taking regular walks around the plane etc I was really sore when we landed. My knees, hips and bum really suffered. As I am vertically challenged I think not having the footrests any longer made it so much more uncomfortable. We have regularly done 14 hrs to New York etc and never suffered this much. Cant help with the kids side tho sorry

Out of interest, when did he become *big* in the UK? Seriously, I am interested. I lived there from 03-08 -- then moved here -- and he was pretty small potatoes then, so if it's in the last few years, good on him. He's got a certain something, I have to say. we moved here 2008 and still love him, can't wait to see him. JT and JB in one week = bliss

If it's a mechatronic issue he says 3,000 Gbp is about right, it's not a cheap issue. Are there any independent VW specialist in Dubai? The jerking could be down to the clutch pack, as it has 2, depending on when the jerking happens. A new transmission would you well over 20k! He said have you priced up ordering the price from the uk and getting it shipped over then fitted, it would take then minimum coding at a agent

Try posting in the Abu Dhabi forum, Nord own the British international school Abu Dhabi (BISAD) there. Rocky start but seems "ok" now, maybe they have learnt from their first Middle East experience.

Tazmin, I think amazon have a book list for relevant ages so just do a search on books for 10 year olds. Ok, so I just googled and its a book list for ages 9-11 and is very comprehensive. You wouldn't have to buy from them just use it as a guide. I have been fancying the David Walliams ones for a few weeks now. edited by DesertRose1958 on 18/12/2013 I used the amazon search option before posting on here, I just got slightly overwhelmed by the 75 pages of options :-)

Timing depends on where the hotel is ie. if it's on yas island it's less than an hour drive from Dubai, if on the corniche it would take 1 1/2 hours. Yas is a very simple drive from Dubai and the hotels are easy to fine, not so much if the hotel is in the city centre

St Regis on saadiyat island in Abu Dhabi or park Hyatt next door, stunning beaches. Baniyas island hotel (can't remember the name of the hotel) the island is a nature park with no cars. http://www.timeoutabudhabi.com/hotels/features/42543-a-weekend-on-sir-bani-yas-island#.Un0UUcsgGK0 edited by Tazmin on 08/11/2013 edited by Tazmin on 08/11/2013

..but we must still wait for the official moonsighting and the Ministry of Labour announcement before this is all confirmed unfortunately Our company PRO mentioned last week that we should get confirmation (or as near as) today as its the start of the lunar month, maybe that's why KSA announced it last night

Unfortunately this still isn't confirmed as we will still need to wait for the moon sighting committee to convene, although it does seem to lean towards the Tues, Wed and Thursday being off, as the private sector wouldn't receive Arafat day as a holiday. It's Monday for Arafat day, then 2 days for Eid (tues and wed) for private sector "Eid Al Adha holidays in October are to begin, according to Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (Iacad), on Monday, October 14 - the Waqfat Arafat day. They will, thus, be off from October 14, Monday until Wednesday, the 16th. Private sector employees will return to work on Thursday, the 17th." edited by Tazmin on 06/10/2013
