Ah thank you, she won't have been with a year until April so I wasn't sure if we should start the process now in time for April but now would be too soon unless we can bring her before she has been with us a year?

Hi, we are returning to the UK. Our maid has been with us since april. She is 25 and very good with the children. She is married with one child. She can cook basic western dishes, tuna pasta ect. This post has been her first housemaid post although you would not know as she has proved to be very hardworking and above all trustworthy and more than patient and kind with the children. Her English is very good. Her cleaning and ironing are both excellent. Please text me if you are interested. 056 7685324 She is available from the 1st of November but I am happy for her to do half a days trial beforehand.

Hi, we got our maid from a friends maid, she had just arrived in Dubai and had never been a housemaid before, I was worried at first as she had no experience but she is married and a mother although she is young only 24 however after our first bad experience of a maid who I thought had everything we were looking for and turned out she was stealing from us. Anyway the lady we have now although she didn't have any experience she also didn't have any bad attitude so that was a plus, I have trained her in cleaning she is excellent in tidying and she can cook some western dishes she loves to cook. She is very patient with my children and has lots of energy. Her English is not excellent but it is very good. As I am going back to the uk she may be available at Christmas, I know it is a bit early but I would like to find her a really nice family to go to.

Tally-ho I agree, arohadxb we are here for one reason only to save money, my dh company pays for nothing here for us so it costs a LOT for myself and the children to be here, it's not that I am unhappy here but I can't be truly happy here if I am not happy with my ds,s arrangements.

I couldn't leave him to live on his own, he is not very mature for his age, it all went wrong formhim when he went to live with his father when I came out here a year ago, he did well withbhis gcse,s then went to live with his father started his a levels then it all went wrong, he came here in july for 6 weeks and hated it and has refused to come back. He started a collage course today and he is really keen to make a go of that. Anon Dubai this is the problem I have to make a rash decision like by tomorrow:(

I would not rely on just an email, I would go along to the school ASAP before the first day of term, I am sure you can get the fees back along as term has not started.

We need navy for horizon so got them in the UK when I was back however last year I bought black in Dubai as I couldnt find navy anywhere. We got to school and more than half the children had black and to be honest when they come out of school at the end of the day the shoes have a covering of sand you can't tell what colour they are anyway:)

Oh no that is shocking! I was going to go in over the next couple of days, my DD,s went last year but everything is covered in paint (that does not wash out) so I wanted a few new bits, my only suggestion would be to call the school if you can get past the secretary ask for the head mistress and explain, I know they have a second hand uniform sale every month you can either buy at a fraction of the new price or do a straight swap when you give them anything that has been outgrown, anyway they have quite a lot of stuff not ideal i know but may be okay for the first week, they changed supplier in June so they have had three months to get the supply in it is just not acceptable.

Hi lauraoo, yes I will let you know my findings, this is a small finding but I need to look into it further. There are no qualifications as such at the moment, but it is expected that counselling is soon to become regulated and therefore it is important that you chose a training course that is accredited by the BACP. When choosing a course, think carefully about the direction of counselling you with to pursue, and do your homework before signing up. :)

Hi, no worries at all, I am looking at doing the online training all from home with the Oxford collage, it is 9 modules each taking around 20 hours so you can train as fast or slow as you like, there is an online exam at the end, I have only just started looking into it so I will know more when I look into it pro Ely once the children go back to school. Itbis something I am very interested in doing.

I am so pleased ladies with these replies, I'm not pleased that people are not 100% happy here but when I tell people I live in Dubai they say wow that's so fantastic you must have an amazing life and yes it is a great life but it can also be so so hard being away from friends and family. I am thinking about doing some training so I can use this free time wisely while the children are at school that should help me from getting bored I hope
