Hi, Organic chicken breast is around 170dhs a kilo and whole frozen organic chickens are 52dhs a kilo. Both from Austria. Ground australian beef I think is 54dhs a kilo. I buy all my meat at the organic store on the 3rd Saturday of the month as it's 20% off and then ust freeze it. You can now get organic beef in carrefour and Spinneys but it is still cheaper in the organic store if you buy on the 20% off day. I was in Spinneys this week and their organic chicken breast is 198dhs a kilo! I don't buy frozen organic vege, except for corn and a small pkt, can't remember how many gms is about 13dhs. There are plenty of places to get fresh organic vegetable. http://www.facebook.com/greenheartorganicfarms http://www.facebook.com/pages/Go-Organic/308114825944916 http://www.facebook.com/downtoearthdubai Hope this helps :)

There are some threads on this. I know GEMS ICT academy run classes at Jumeirah Primary school. They are really good and not expensive. Anyone can attend, you don't have to ahve children at the school. http://www.gemsictacademy.com/contents.php?pageid=2738&parentid=866 http://www.gemsictacademy.com/contents.php?pageid=2783&parentid=868 <em>edited by TimTam on 19/10/2012</em>

There are lots of threads about this. We just used Evelyn Seika, she was brilliant. Have also heard good things about Christa Strauss. Evelyn is at Top Medical cnt Grovesnor House, details are on this forum under the health section. The assessment is around 5000dhs from memory, our insurance covers it but not all will.

New Years accommodation is very expensive in Sydney. You could try www.wotif.com.au or www.stayz.com.au for holidays houses and apartments. It may also be very difficult to find something at that time of the year as people book way in advance. (sorry) <em>edited by TimTam on 07/10/2012</em>

We have also booked for christmas and based on friends recommendations and tripadvisor we are staying near St Stephen's Catherdral. Friends stayed near the opera and also loved it. Anything in the inner Stadt will be reasonable walking distance. When looking for accommodation the area code is 1010. Beebers it will also depend what you want to be close to. We have children so walking distance to christmas markets, restaurants, shopping, museums is important to us. <em>edited by TimTam on 07/10/2012</em>

Yes you can. Break off a leaf, the "sap" not sure what to call it will ooze out, it's quite sticky and you can then apply to your skin. I was on holidays once and got burnt, there were aloe vera plants where we were staying and one of the staff suggested it. Worked a wonder. It's great for all sorts of things.

We did visa on arrival in April, no problems at all and about 1/2hr wait. We used come and go vietnam and they were fantastic. We used them for transfers and Mekong Delta overnight trip which we loved. We did the homestay option which was a gorgeous house on the river, lovely bedroom and ensuite. Only bedrooms in the house, but our family was the only one there. Be very careful with cameras and iphone in Ho chi Minh. We are very well travelled people and DH had his expensive camera stolen out of his hands down by the river by 2 guys on a motorbike. The hotel said it is a very common occurence in the city and guests loose several iphones a month as people hold them up to take a photo and the motorcyclists wizz past and steal from their hands. Just be over cautious.

When you download TV shows or movies look for MP4 format. Otherwise like you said you will need to convert them. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to stream. I normally load something, then make my coffee and come back and it's fine. It could also be your internet speed. When we bought our apple Tv 2 years ago we had al shamil broadband, now we have the elife fiber optic and a faster internet speed and we have no problems at all.

We tend to hire a car on the weekends, DH drives ours and I drive the rental. At least then we can point things out and tell them about places as we drive. It's not easy driving here even if you are following someone, especially if you are not use to driving on the other side of the road. We only get a small Yaris/Chevolet and pay 100dhs a day through Arabian something?? I find during the week it's ok as I take kids to school, go home then take visitors out and about, leave them somewhere, get kids etc. Lots of running around but it works out fine for us.

Joe's jeans at MCC are having a sale at the moment, I got a great fitting pair for 150dhs. All their jeans are on sale. That's crazy prices. Which store? Joe's jeans are my absolute favorite. They really seem to cater to small waist with curvy hips. Sorry Beebers for the slow reply - the Joe's store in Mirdiff city centre. 2nd level near the Debenhams end. All their jeans were on sale 150-300dhs. Didn't see many over that price :) I normally wear citizen of humanity but I love the pair I bought, so comfortable.

Before you go putting your child through a bunch of tests, have you considered that your child is perfectly fine but simply in the wrong age group at school? My son is in year three and just about to turn 8. The stigma of being diagnosed with ADD or learning difficulties can follow a child for life - and make it difficult for children to change schools. I've seen first hand how children diagnosed with ADD are suddenly "cured" when put with a more age-appropriate class. It's very difficult to move year group once the children has been registered with the MOE, KHDA are quite strict. A friend applied before the summer to move her child and after 3 months the response was no.

They may have recommended the assessment to see if they have any learning difficulties, e.g dyslexia. I recently had an assessment for my son with Evelyn Seika at Top Medical centre Marina, but the full assessment was around 4500dhs. He required this for his GCSE's but we already knew he had dyslexia, this was identified and tested by his primary school in Year 4, we just needed the full report for the exam board. Maybe contact Evelyn, her number is 394 5596 and you could maybe do the assessment during the day? <em>edited by TimTam on 25/09/2012</em>

Not sure if it is illegal to work for someone else part time if you have the approval of your sponsor, it is supposed to be in writing I think (perhaps EW ladies can clarify that. A 'DRAFT' law has been proposed to ensure that maids 'do not' work for anyone but their sponsor but it hasn't been signed off by the Ministry yet. So I think they all know and are making the most of this before it officially comes in. Your comments would be appreciated.... A maid can only legally work for their sponsor. There was a person in our compound using an illegal maid, they were arrested, fined 50,000. Just not worth it. Here is an article from Gulf news last year re illegal/part time workers http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/employment/maid-in-dubai-domestic-danger-1.866967

You could try an educational psychologist. DS recently saw Evelyn Seika at Top Medical Centre at Grosvenor House, she is so lovely. German I think, but spent time in Australia and is registered with Department of Education Queensland and licensed here and in Australia. The number is 394 5596. Call to see what the cahrges will be as an assessments here are quite costly.

1. Just follow your Australian vaccination schedule and bring your health cnt book with you. We did this and no problems at all. 2. For cars check out Dubizzle second hand prices, you can get some quite new ones. Otherwise for brand new to get an idea of prices got to www.toyota.ae We just bought a Pajero, the 2012 model is 136,000dhs new full leather 3.8L, but on Dubizzle we bought a 2010, only 16000 kms for 96,000dhs. Looked at Prado's 2010-2011 models on Dubizzle are 140-160,000dhs. New with full leather, top range about 220,000 dhs We pay cash, hate banks here and try to avoid them. Driving isn't that bad. You just need to look in all directions. It's a great city there are some frustrating things but you will love it if accept it for what it is.

I bought the Dovers Farm gluten/wheat free bread mix today from Waitrose. As my DS is also dairy intolerant I used rice milk in the recipe and egg replacer but it came out really well. I'm sure if you use normal milk and eggs it would be even better. It tasted better than the Organic store rice bread loaf I purchased at organic store last week. Yummy warm but not sure how it will be tmrw but it will make great toast.

There is a new supermarket on the slip Rd Sheikh zayed near JESS, can remember the name but I think it is Asiana, not sure if it has Thai ingredients. What in particular do you want as you can generally piece together the recipe after a few supermarket visits!.

Ther was quite a nice one in Bookworld Dubai Mall, I page per week that you can tear off, had a big magnet so it attached to the fridge too and enough space for each persons schedule. Not expensive either, about 69dhs. Sometimes Marks and Spencer have them too. <em>edited by TimTam on 18/09/2012</em>

Hi Tiki, I don't disagree tht NLP can't help, it very effective in giving children strategies to cope, but I wouldn't say it's gone forever. I just want beckybeach to be careful as there is no quick fix. You can't do NLP a few times and expect the child to not have dyslexia anymore. It's ongoing and must be reinforced and it also depends upon the severity of the dyslexia. Also as quizzme said go with an experienced practioner, I'm not an expert and have only done a short course (work sent us on the course to enhance our teaching) Give anything a go, everychild is different and has varying degrees of dyslexia. I thought I'd give my opinion and experience particularly with my own children. I'm sure Beckybeach will look at all options.
