My 2-year olds love the park at Zabeel (for an outside activity) and Favorite Things in Marina Mall (inside). 2 year old[b'>s[/b'>, twins? Wow, we are kept on our toes by just the one :D Impressed, though they say when they are a bit older this works out nicely ;-)

Thanks Quinn, appreciate the ideas :-) Chi2dxb, the doctor told my DH it's only a slight ear infection but best to avoid water places - no temperature or other major symptoms, and he's still running around so really want to try to get him out of the house for his birthday.

Would recommend Ahlan Dia over Marhaba - have used both numerous times for visitors - even just a few weeks ago (visitors always happy - just remember to tell them they can enjoy the lounge & comp refreshments as ours always forget). Booked Marhaba accidentally for my mother once, who ended up collecting her own luggage from the carousel - other service attributes were not to the same standard either. Ahlan premium service is good value, saves the immigration queues and they give assistance throughout though the basic is still decent as we've used that for guests also (and no I don't get a commission but should don't you think :-)

Another vote for Motor City, we are on our 3rd year. Have lived in Tecom & The Greens - which are great if you go out a lot at night (obv we don't). We can walk everywhere in Motor City, have 6 pools (4 baby pools - our DS has swimming lessons in the community) & numerous gyms, lovely parks pretty much every shop we could want is at the end of the road. Looked at villas in JVT which are beautiful but hubby loves the easy access of the amenties here. Agree with GA the apartments are a great size & actually it's not a hassle to get anywhere as road access is easy. And for the record I'm not getting a commission ;)

For sure take the express service with Amazon if they don't deliver here - I personally have had positive services from Shop & Ship. 3 weeks ago my mother posted a large box with Royal Mail (registered or recorded delivery - not express) on the Friday, got email confirmation for it's arrival on Saturday, Mr Aramex delivered it to me on Sunday. Last week my colleague called the UK on Thursday to order goods (my account), same thing but Mr Aramex actually came to deliver it on Saturday - 2 days later! Yes more expensive than some services but delivered to my door, and as I live close to my work our particular Mr Aramex automatically delivers to my work during the week & my home in the evenings in weekends, so I have nothing but praise for the service as pretty much all my items arriving at the UK address by Saturday morning are usually here within 2 days. Good luck :)

They had the slim bottles which are 240ml in the Medi Link Pharmacy Arabian Ranches 04 3618218, alternatively they had/have them in Baby Shop at Dubai Mall. I have used both the wide necked (sent from the UK) & the slim ones bought here & they are both as good. Hope that helps :-)

Hi depends which country you are from I think? We married in the UK but flew back here soon after so had to send our papers to the FCO in the UK. When they were sent back we had to go to the British Embassy in Dubai to get another stamp and pay 100-200 AED. I think I looked between the FCO website & called the British Embassy in Dubai & wrote it down in stages & had them repeat the process to be sure ;-) Looking on my marriage certificate we have postage looking stamps with Dubai as well... Perhaps try the website & or the Embassy - it involves courier service and an SAE, but it wasn't too much of a drama. Would suggest you get copies of all documents before sending in case they are needed though I'm sure we had to present our documents when I was pregnant so you shouldn't need them again at the end. Good luck :)

Sponsoring children and husbands are different matters. Apols, obv didn't read it properly - apparently it can be done by getting an 'outside visa' whatever that is,or as said below by a willing PRO for a cost.

My friend is in HR (not a manager) & was able to sponsor her DS when her DH was made redundant. She was also able to renew it 4-6 weeks ago, really think it depends who is behind the counter.. They did the whole process themselves as our PRO's don't help us at our company..

I tried to read the earlier thread but their seems to be an issue with the link - could you re-ad it? We use water proof Banana boat Spray 50 SPF for swimming on our 1year old & it seems great - but I worried when I saw this & possible issues but found a link which says it's ok, phew. I had a suspected melanoma removed as a child myself - so our DS has Nivea 50 SPF for day use. Apparently EU allow up to 50, Australia 50 as below & the ROTW above. http://pediatrics.about.com/od/sunscreen/a/best_sunscreen.htm Had no idea it could be a problem so glad to have some awareness to the dangers - TY.

Hello all, Sorry for late reply... no real news as yet. Progress - friend & DH went to bank who agreed to reduce fee by 5,000 AED to 10,000 (16k mentioned early mistake - total was 15k). They were told to pay all within a week, no payment terms at all. Saught advice from work & sent letter to branch manager copying in manager of Credit department - after a weekend & a few days friend followed up, branch manager not received letter (thank goodness we'd scanned it & had POD confirmation email. Branch manager replied on Wednesday & confirmed receipt & investigation... In between her DH received a call asking for immediate payment... Still ongoing no news as yet - hoping for something better or at least payment terms, let's see... madeolecow & mushypeas you were so right, we are all contacting the bank for our cards - a wake up call for sure! They appreciated all the feedback, will let you know the final outcome..

olso to add in IBn Batuta mall , there s fun city too , dramaqn - Thanks for your concern - personally I wouldn't dream of taking my DS anywhere whilst he was ill - that would be highly irresponsible I wouldn't want him to pick up any more germs let alone give any more to others! ! My DS was ill last week & needed an asthma pump - Doctor gave the all clear but said I shouldn't risk taking him for his swimming lesson due to the change of temperature getting out of the pool - didn't want him to get ill again.' Fresh air' was 'off' the list as dust was affecting his breathing - hence the request for indoor suggestion. Thanks for the tip but please be aware not all of us are 'irresponsible mothers' - perhaps more polite not to assume the worst.

Baby Shop & a few Phamacies sell the long Dr. Browns bottles (we bought the long ones from Arabian Ranches Pharmacy). Haven't seen the wide neck bottles & teats - we got ours online from Mothercare in the UK. Not looked for a while though so definitely worth calling in case they've started stocking them. The long ones are as good we have both types but our DS can hold the long ones more easily.

Muesli Bar - that's some saga, me thinks a cuppa & biscuit to read that one after work when I've put DS down for the night! Mum2girls - agreed, dodgy but some substance.. MOC & MP - that's rubbish, so much money & 6k per year horrific - but regardless if they found his number to call him now, how come they didn't phone or send any statements before... it's a bank - if they don't keep up with their audits what chance do we have (incidentally myself & many of our colleagues all bank there - will be checking my online banking AS SOON as I get a chance later)!

Lilli34 We've just seen the statement shows 1 line of deffered finance charges & over limit fee charge - for 1 month.. Somebody suggested if it's a blank statement it should have a system generated notice or something & a previous balance listed? Agree with you MushyPeas they need to know how this is calculated with proof & less demanding xxx Muesli Bar Didn't know about the ATM case but they definitely don't need to add that to their worries & to all, I've sent her the link to this thread for her husband to take all of yoru advice which is very constructive - thanks very much :-)

Wow, I'm at work & have just come back to these replies :) So we just quizzed someone in accounts who says maybe they're not showing the bank statement as it's only 3k but they're trying to scam the rest which sounds feasible. They had forgotten the last credit card & as you say DubiaCat the husband is more than prepared to do this. They are not on a high salary so 16k is horrific! Reading all of your responses I'm inclined to agree with all of you really, yes it could be possible, but not 16k - I have to believe this is dodgy & will tell them not to go to the police.. I cannot see how the bank wouldn't send a letter with letterhead & to date they STILL HAVEN'T sent a letter, my friend just sent us a copy of the statement they were given in the bank... blank, credit card details - no bank name Credit limit 3k available credit - 12,009 (she was 1 k out, 15k outstanding not 16k) still - very dodgy... Defo think they owe the 3k, but evidence before payment & meeting with bank manager & person minimum with as much previous correspondence info as possible... hmmn

Oh no so you think it is real then mushypeas... that's a bit of a mare - a charge so old? Why can't they give her proof of anything then.. It just seems a bit disjointed.. & how come they didn't get stopped at the airport like the masses - that's the thing... Really hoping to give them hope They defo need someone more sympathetic as oppose to a stroppy so & so telling them to just do it! Thanks x

Derien, I'm sure you are correct about the bank, That's what we said, at first we thought payments, but the more she spoke the more things didn't add up.. It's quite brave to be doing a scam within the bank but not impossible... I just cannot believe they wouldn't have followed up before.. I said to my friend they do audits once a year so how wasn't it picked up before... & how can there be NO records on the system, NO transactions available, NO interest etc etc.. Am sending her this link with all your helpful advice :)

Coffemate & mushypeas - Sorry - so they took a loan in 2009 & paid off all their bills & credit cards - or so they thought until recently. Derien - not sure if I'm allowed to put the bank name on here but it was one that merged 1-2 years ago.. & the bank our company use.. but there account is held at a different branch to most of us.. & our company account manager has recently left..

@mushy peas - yes you are reading this correctly - she just told us on her lunch break, her husband only told her yesterday as he didn't want to worry her. He went to the bank today to meet the person who called him last week & demanded the cash.. He said ok if I forgot to pay apologies I will pay some interest but this is 800%, can he work out an instalment. To which said banker told him "you pay an auto loan of X so you can pay this all at once". His wife pays the autoloan anyway, & when he explained they said "tell her to pay it then!!!" Because he met someone at the bank they're inclined to think they should do this, but we're all saying after 3 years with no follow up.. they have left the country for holidays & have never been stopped.. & the sudden urgency for payment with no records on the system.. no transactions on a blank (non logo'd statement) & advice to pay this 1 lady it just feels a bit wrong..

That's what we think we're at lunch trying to work this out. The thing is he went to the bank & saw 1 lady who he'd spoken to .. There is nothing on the system nor the police system saying they owe money, just 1 lady who insists he must settle with her directly .. She's going to send us a copy of the statement for us to share with our contacts.. It's horrid they're do worried but it just sounds do dodgy - glad to know that's the general consensus

Hi we've lived at the back of Motor City for 2.5 years & love it - 6 pools, 4 baby pools lots of gyms & grassed areas etc, you can walk everywhere easily & it's a lovely quality of life. You can call Emicool at Motor City (04 447 6419) directly to get confirmation on chiller charges if you don't find what you are looking for on FB - they are different depending on the sq ft. Good luck if you move there. <em>edited by TopQ on 08/03/2012</em>

Our DS does shakes his head on bad teething days. He's 10 months old & already has 8 teeth & has done this the whole time. He has 2 side teeth coming now & still shakes his head, puts his finger in his ear & pokes about or puts his finger on his gums - so we know it's his teeth bless him. He hasn't had fever or a blocked nose though, so If your not sure a trip to the doctor/midwife will reassure you.

Yes I think she is educated - we will look after her very well & treat her fairly. Now I just want to sort this visa out before we all get too attached - I will feel better when she has the stamp.. Don't worry M_K if it all works out I will ask her if she's got a friend ;)

She's with us for a couple of days at the mo, that's how I know the baby likes her - it's just finding confirmation of the min age limit - think it was raised to 20? Then the Tourist student visa - some say as long as she exits the country to Doha or Kish it's fine? You know how things change so often... If you think it's all ok we will move on to the writing part & keep our fingers crossed.
