Sorry to hear your experience. I know someone who is good in purchase and sale but rental segment I have not much suggestion. If I was in your shoe, I would have to be bullish as I visit the site, call the agent, visit their office if needed, get the owners contact number of possible. Some time it is good to tip the watchman and they would do more than you can imagine. Good luck.

Earlier post cover most of it. Here is some more additional info: Your friend will have to go to Tasheel to lodge the complaint. They will type official document which she will then take to labor ministry in Ghusais. She will submit her complain and labor department will give a hearing date. Immediately both parties will be intimated by SMS about the hearing with Labor department. On said date and time, one would take a token, wait for tern, meet the negotiator and case would move forward. In most cases, as soon as you file labor case, employer clears the payment otherwise they will get negative remarks on labor system. She/he can call on 800 665 tollfree for labor department. Good luck.

Thanks for sharing. As long as you are not promoting a business, your comment is to help others. Once we had an issue with burnt school uniform and we got the refund as per the new purchase slip. Of course it was different agency.

Borrowing regularly is common in domestic working people. It is for us to keep the limit and payback schedule. You can not know the truth. Sometimes its the maid and sometimes its the family back home who is crossing their limits. It can only be done on gut feeling and knowing the person. I face the same many times, I lend and put a pay back covers it before next request is considered. The most satisfying thing for me is that she loves my son. I can see it in her eyes and actions. So I am ok with crossing line sometimes as I know my priorities. Holidays become a big pain for us too. Good luck.

Part time through maid agency won't be possible. Maid service company that offer hourly service may be able to do specific 6 hours. There are plenty of them. You can see them in the other posts. As for per hour charge, it varies from 30 - 40 per hour. Some have minimum hours but don't mention maximum hours. So must check the details. @couchPotato: Feng Shui is real. Understanding it correct is essential. My agency maid uses what I buy as mop. The stroke is always alternating so its catch 22. It is a very fine aspect, such as winding clock or anti clock wise. Good luck @nickym1d

Cowboy put it perfectly. As soon as you have pink visa copy, you can have her work as your employee. I am assuming here that the maid you are hiring is in the country. Imagine, you are hiring someone from another country. You get an employment visa and they arrive. That is exactly the same for you once you have pink visa. Holidays are a big challenge for us too. Agree before hand and split is also fine as long as agreed. You will be paying ticket twice although. Good luck.

With the kind of hours you have, I would have gone for Hourly maid service as their pick and drop is covered by the company and of course it live-out / no visa complications etc.

Well, it depends if you are hiring locally. If you are not, they won't know a difference. You can plan a weekly outing drop off/ cab fare plan and thats about it. Jumeirah Golf Community is awesome. edited by touimi on 12/03/2015

Its not working out for me in your shoes. I want peace of mind with my maid. No tricks. I can't have someone have access to my home and family if I can't be sure of their commitment. It may be difficult to find a replacement but to have been taken or a ride is horrible. Hope you find peace.

Interesting to note if there is a way out. What I found was very expensive to do it in UAE. Being online business, you can always open back home, UK, or US etc where setting a company is few hundred bucks. Online would be equally available across the world, right?

Like anything, use common sense. I have been through the same and used phone camera to scare the fake pretenders easily. But it if you are up against a young Emarati who knows where it leads to. It is very simple for the police to give you a ticket. There are plenty of provisions and I have been through once. I don't speak Arabic, my disadvantage. The Emarati fills the police guy first, you are left to answer the question the police guy will ask. Before you will know he has already wrote a ticket. Don' get me wrong, I am not saying that you accept such behavior. Just avoid falling into one. Now I can see as it develops and can slip out before it fully manifests :-)

It is tough to make a simple decision is this situation. But this is what I would do in your place: 1. You mentioned she was having a residency and medical cover. Go back to the same insurance to resume her health insurance. 2. Once you have the insurance, this may be treated as an existing client, since she has a history with them. 3. If she is going to have it done in home country, you are not obliged to foot the bills. It is totally how you feel. Good luck.

I have found my answer in removing "direct Carbs & raw sugar" from my diets. What I understood is this: Our body do not require raw sugar. It makes necessary glucose from Carbohydrates that we eat. There are food items that are just carb and there are those which have other nutrition along with carb. Body needs glucose as source of energy for body cells to function, like electricity. Body cells have receptors which pick sugar from blood stream, river, if you like. When we exercise, there receptors have consumed the sugar hence are free to pick again. For those who don't exercise, these receptors are occupied and excess glucose flows in the blood stream. This excess glucose is then converted into fat, for future use, if required. Remember Fat that you eat is not which makes you fat. It is the excess glucose which converts into fat. So first take care of what and how much you eat. Second, physically exhaust yourself with some sort of activity so that excess glucose is consumed. Thats it. Good luck.

Mashreq is generally very good. But I had a bad experience with them on credit card which is still unresolved. They are somehow finding some reason to bill me on a closed card 2 years back. Called the bank to resolve the matter but despite repeat calls, months keep rolling up. It may be just one off situation but Mashreq is No No for me.

Its difficult to gauge the situation on little info. From what I heard last, police is not taking such cases. I would go to Dubai Municipality Rental Dispute Committee. It is on Baniyas street. Here is a link to the location map. https://www.google.ae/maps/place/Dubai+Municipality/@25.264326,55.311454,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xe4a6ef36c0b77048 It is first building on left as you approach the complex.

Fee for the vaccine is paid in cash at the time of test and not included in typing fee. The stamp saying "Free from infectious diseases" is all you need to proceed for visa. The medical results are uploaded by DHA and immigration people don't need this report hard copy, unless recruitment is for a company.

When someone says your visa is in process, it is general expression but there is a whole process behind. It certain stage, the candidate can exit without any issue and in other you won't be allowed out. It is not clear which stage you are in. Here is the process when employing: 1. Labor dept Quota approval by employer, for job position and gender - this is toughest 2. Assuming employer gets the desired title and gender, they submit passport copy of the candidate specific for labor approval. 3. If you have no issues, you get this approval too. 4. Your employer submits labor guarantees and labor card fee. This is cakewalk. 5. Labor dept will update the status online. Till here, your physical location has no significance. After this stage they apply for an Entry Permit which has to be classified, IN or Out of country irrespective of status (Cancelled visa / tourist / visit). This is where most get mixed up. If you are in the country and new entry permit needs to be issued, employer pays an extra fee of some AED 680 and you get Pink entry permit in hand. Now you can either make an A to A trip (airport to airport) or pay status change fee without leaving the country. Once you have entered the country with new employment entry permit, you can not leave the country until the Residence visa is stamped on your passport. Of course you need to go through the medical, and Emirates ID before they fix the residency. This is it. I hope this helps.

The garage deal is like a visit to doctor. I have had similar experience. I certainly didn't have a situation like yours and I could drive my car to other garage for second opinion. As for Consumer Rights, Di@dxb has replied perfectly. I went thru that process myself for a Samsung Tablet which kept failing to operate after a few days post repair. Eventually it was sorted once I complained to DED. Try that option.

Well, call them if you got ample budget. But you can always make a choice yourself. I cant remember the name of the store, but I had seem an advertisement where they will help you choose colors for your home. Once you are done with that, take those colors to the curtain shop. I would always do the deal for curtain. Buy, stitched and installed by same store. All the best.
