I'm with FAMN on this one. I had the same problem with all my credit being eaten. I took out a plan from Etisalat, I went to the desk at MOE to arrange it. Now I have no problem and can use my phone properly. You are not tied into the plan, I renew it on a month by month basis. I have to make sure there is enough credit each month, if there isn't, the plan is automatically cancelled. Even my switching off the 3G etc, my credit was still being eaten. I kept a diary note each day of my credit, even when I had not used the phone, the credit was being scoffed! There is no point in having an Iphone if you can't use of the fun stuff on it. I have wifi at home but the phone used to drop off all the time. Now that I have the plan it doesn't do this anymore. Thanks bodabz. Do you have to physically go to th etisalat store to renew each month?

If I ever get a live-in maid again I will personally opt for a Srilankan. That said, I know that there are some lovely Philipina maids out there

Bump anyone plz Sheikh Zayed Rd. Exit at Al Manara (heading west). Turn right onto AL Wasl Rd, then first right (maybe 22nd street I think). Then go to the end (Kangaroo Kids Nursery in front). Turn Right and it is down a couple of hundred metres on your left)

An intriguing case. I doubt very much it is the father, particularly as he is the one pushing for the touch DNA tests.

After a prolonged period of arguments, strife and unhappiness (the best part of 4 years!) my DH is a changed man this year and I LIKE it! He actually remembered Valentines day today and woke me after a little lie in with a red rose, a card and a lovely little hand painted Arabic dish. For the second time in the history of our 14 year relationship he's cooking me dinner tonight and there's a chilled bottle of bubbles in the fridge too. I'm feeling pretty happy! :) Glad things are turning around for you. It must be a relief. I guess any long term relationship is a roller coaster. DH got me an iphone4. Very happy. Probably not very romantic but I am well pleased :) I am feeling quite bad though, I didn't even get him a card! doh!!!:\:

As someone who worked in the antiques industry for a few years - mostly in high end antiques but I have a good knowledge of the whole range of antiques - there are very, very few actual "antiques" in Dubai. Most of what is passed off as antiques are "distressed" reproductions, especially the Asian and Indian furniture and decorative objects. It's amazing how much money some stores ask for what are just knockoffs made in a factory somewhere in China, and these shops includes a couple of those outfits in Al Quoz that shall remain nameless. You're much better off buying proper antiques from vetted dealers and auction houses in the UK or the US and shipping the pieces to Dubai, and it's probably cheaper as well. But if you're just looking for "antique style" furniture, I second Lucky's and Pinky's. They have that rustic, colonial handmade look. Dubai really isn't the best place for antiques because if you want to resell the market is limited and you won't recoup your investment, or you'll need to ship the pieces back overseas. The climate here is also bad for wood furniture. Thanks for this. I kind of figured as much.

Another heads up, it's a holiday in Saudi (or it was) and half of Saudi is apparently here and on the walk. Word on the street (lol) is that the Walk has been PAAAAAAAACKED lately, one hour sitting on the strip of the walk moving cms. edited by AmyAus82 on 10/02/2011 Very true. I was wondering what was going on.

Yep, who needs Russel Crowe when we've got "All aussie adventures" Russell Coight? We need an Aussie evening - Kath & Kim, Russell Coight, Summer Heights High, a bit of standup from Carl Barron and finished off with a screening of Muriels Wedding and The Castle. [i'>Dale Kerrigan: Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck. [/i'> Yep, could definitely do with a dose of Kath and Kim and Summer Heights High to really put things in perspective. Love it! ;) edited by Tru Blu on 08/02/2011

hey, DD managed to convince 3 people to leave the bus with her screaming the other day. I committed the terrible sin of not letting her sit at the back on her own (where there happened to be a solitary bloke). Love it! So funny that we spend all of our waking time protecting them from dangerous situations!

If you want alcohol I think you will have to go to one of the restaurants on the Souk Al Baha side. So Mango Tree or Rivington Grill etc.. I went to Meat Co recently but would not recommend it.

It is probably best not to introduce a bottle until breastfeeding is firmly established (Usually around 7 or 8 weeks). Otherwise this can lead to nipple confusion.

I have heard that there is a big difference in the fees. Dr Fakih is suppose to be the most expensive RE around. Maybe he is worth it though so prob best to meet with both of them and decide for yourself.

I love slow cooking but the smell drives me nuts. At first you think mmmmm that smells yum but it just lingers and lingers...and seems to get into every room. Tried covering the top with foil on top of the lid but didn't make any difference. It puts me off using it. Do you all find this? Not at all. For me, it is one of the best things about it... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:)

When it comes to life changing consequences and a possible jail term I would do whatever it took, regardless of their age, to protect them. If, on the other hand, you mean making decisions about less serious matters then in my home country they are legal adults at 18. However as people mature at different rates a parent can take that into consideration when it relates to important issues. I totally agree. It is a mother's instinct to protect her children (no matter how old they are) with something as serious as the thread on REAL maid troubles, I would do whatever it took. If, on the other hand, we were in another country with less severe consequences, I may be inclined to let him figure things out on his own.....

Read the book - Eat right for your blood type. If you stick to the foods it suggests for your blood type and steer clear of the foods you should avoid, you will loose weight.

Mulberry...I do have a question. Is there gaming (ie poker) on cruises that stop in Dubai or other ME countries? Probably not, I use to work for Cunard onboard some of their vessels. The casino's are never open when in port, but as soon as you are in international waters it is fine. The same applies in the ME.

I don't think I'd take an 11 year old to either tickles and giggles or favourite things - surely they are for younger kids. when my niece was 11 she wanted to be treated like a mini adult and used to go to the same salon as her mum. Agree. Both of those places are for about 7 years and under.

Thanks tru blu! I think you're referring to Blu (same as your name)? :-) we actually bought one air purifier & they're also selling the shower filter, we didn't buy one as it is quite expensive around 300 plus? But i guess it will really be a great thing. Will check it again & will see if it will be an alternative for our son. Thanks! Correct, it is BLU. I was there today. I am not sure how well they work but I do feel a difference, even with my own hair. They have a nice smell from the vitmain C tab that you put in them too.

Evian for any formular that I give him. It does get expensive but it is one of the only options on the market that does NOT contain fluoride (actually there is very small amount but less than the others). Wickedangel, I always thought that Masafi was quite high in sodium. Arwa is much better (but contains fluoride if you don't mind that) Masafi doesnt have flouride & it only have 10mg /ltr of sodium. Ahh cool that's less sodium than I thought. And v.cool that it doesn't contain fluoride. That is the one that DH and I drink.:)
