BTW - Etihad seem to have some kind of "happy hour" going on where it is cheaper to book at a particular time of the day.

Not sure what kind of responses you are going to get on this one, but I am into harm minimisation myself - if you do go on your own (which I would not) then do it on a Friday when there is less traffic going through Sharjah. Saturday is too busy. You should also search the forum for "barracuda bandits" so that you are fully aware.

Never been there, must try it. DH and I went to Thyme, they do a nice roast, Ive tried many brunches I have loads of favourites, sometimes its so hard to choose. Oooh, Sals B, do tell, I'm looking for good places for when my best friend comes over end Feb - would love to be by the sea with bubbles or c*cktails (put my own punctuation in)!! Im not sure if Thyme will be the place to take your friend, we go there as they food is nice and I love my meat and 2 veg, we just in and rush our after our quick fix. The Al Marooj Rotana by Dubai Mall is lovely, sitting out on the terrace, al Inc 199 each, and you can always pop down to Double deckers for a boogie. Saffron at Atlantic is really lovely, well worth taking your friend there. You can then head to the pool party afterwards, lol. SalsB, if you like your meat and veg, I imagine you have tried the Grand Grill? as it is close to Thyme so maybe you are like me and in JBR? If you have been to Grand Grill for Friday Brunch, what is it like? DH and I are contemplating it but it is a big deal for us as we have to get a babysitter in....

Evian for any formular that I give him. It does get expensive but it is one of the only options on the market that does NOT contain fluoride (actually there is very small amount but less than the others). Wickedangel, I always thought that Masafi was quite high in sodium. Arwa is much better (but contains fluoride if you don't mind that)

Oh, you poor thing! The first 12 weeks are tiring enough during pregnancy without being sick too!!!! I was very healthy during my first pregnancy (in Perth) but 2nd time round (here in Dubai) I got sick and run down quite often. Perhaps something to do with having a 1 year old to contend with and I think I also had more time and more focus to be healthy during my first pregnancy. I hope you start to feel better soon {{{HUGS}}}

After reading so many threads on nurseries and nannies I would like to hear your personal experience on which of the 2 you prefer. My son is now 4 months and I am thinking to slowly get back to work so by the time he is 6 months I would either have him in nursery or have hired a full time nanny. Both have pro's and con's but I would like to hear your opinions on this matter. I would say Nanny while your child is this age. Of course she will have to be someone who you trust implicitly.

Just leave some maid cv's lying around on the coffee table. Probably not a bad idea! Just to keep he on her toes ;)

@Tru Blu If you are under your DH's sponsorship and being added to his application/card, then you don't need a labor card. I can't remember if my DH wrote an NOC to add me to the card (his PRO took care of the process). But if you do the application on your own, I believe one of the requirements to be added is an NOC from your DH (along with all the other things Sugarbeach said). Thanks. Does anyone know if my DH would need to show his labour card too? We tried to apply for one about 6 months ago but the guy at MMI told us that DH would need to show his labour card, along with everything else. DH does not have a labour card.

I think I had similar thina similar situation with my two pregnancies. I had symptoms very early on. Then they stopped and I started getting back very strong symptoms around 7-8 weeks that lasted through the pregnancy. I went on to have two very healthy boys :)

I asked at the A&E about this today. As A&E explained it today and as I understand it, you need a copy of the Tenancy Contract and Proof of Salary/Employment contract in order to get the licence (the monthly alcohol allowance is based on the annual salary), plus the usual passport copy etc.. In my case, the Tenancy Contract is under DH's name, therefore A&E said that I could be part of DH's licence as a spouse. The Licence will be a red card with DH's photo on, but I won't get a red card, but I will be recognised in the "system" (whatever that be) as a spouse of a valid licence holder. Effectively, I was told that we will have a "family" alcohol licence. If that all makes sense. Does anyone know if you need a labour card as well?

I will always be skeptical about this. I have heard too many stories and spoken with parents who swear black and blue that their child regressed and showed the first signs of autism around 2 weeks following their MMR jab. Perhaps these parents just need a reason to pin the autism on something, perhaps it is because signs of autism tend to show at 12 months (around the time of the scheduled vax) but I always think that parents know their children best and maybe there is some truth to it. I had some doubts, and as such, waited until DS was 2 years before giving him the MMR Each to their own.

Hello Ladies Much to my annoyance, I have recently discovered that my health insurance policy does not cover maternity and so to avoid any potentially high costs associated with any complications, I have decided I will deliver at Al Wasl Hospital. Plus, I have read great feedback on this forum about the services there. I have just called the hospital and they told me I needed to see a ob/gyn which they recognise and have given me the name of a clinic I need to go to and that clinic will register me at the hospital. However, I am already seeing a ob/gyn who I am really happy with. Has anyone had a similar experience and if so, how did you go about it? Did you keep your orginal doctor or move to the Al Wasl approved clinic? They have given me the name of Al Badaa (?) clinic. thank you! If you plan to deliver at Al Wasl, then you will have to pay for the pre-natal package anyway. It can't hurt to be going to both sets of appointments anyway. I agree with Frannie's comments and would like to add: - request local food at the hosptial (so much better than the vegetarian and meditteranean options) - make your DH insist that you get a private room (if you search my posts back about 12 months, there is quite a lot of info on this) - Request Dr Josepheine as your Ob at Al Wasl. She is brilliant.

I just saw this too. Have to admit, I am not a massive Kidville fan as I think the prices are ridiculous - but yes, it seems like a pretty good deal to me too.

A similar thing happened near Albany, Western Australia a number of years ago. It turned out that it was lead or something in the ocean (some negligent company had pumped or dumped high levels of lead into the sea) hence the dead fish and dead birds....!

We are trying to decide between northern France (which I just love) and Sri Lanka. Both quite different I know. We will definitely be taking a trip to Jordan too. And Australia, of course.

[i'> Desert Rose - how was it stopping the night feeds? Can you elaborate a bit? At the moment I formular feed during the day and breast feed 3 or 4 times during the night! DS is 10 months old..... Did you replace with a formular feed? edited by Tru Blu on 02/01/2011 edited by Tru Blu on 02/01/2011[/i'> I just replaced night feeds with formula as well - this was done gradually too, so depending on how many feeds DS had, so lets say if he had 3 feeds per night for the 1st week I only dropped 1 BF and then 2nd week no BF at all, although in the 2nd week there were times he searched for the breast whilst alseep but he was full on formula and so didnt drink, it was more out of habit. edited by desertrose on 02/01/2011 Thanks. I will be doing this over the next couple of months....!

Hi Dubaicat! You're back - how was the trip to the UK? I stopped BF 2 months ago, as my milk had started to diminsh when he started solids and even with expressing it did'nt help, but anyway... I dropped the 1st feed of the day and then afternoon feed and so on, as the other lades have suggested doing it over a course of time def helps with getting them used to formula and helping with breast engorgment etc. I was quite lucky because DS took the formula quite easily and I didnt have any breast discomfort. Once he was established on formula during the day which took a couple of weeks I then took another 2 weeks or so to stop the night feeds. Take it nice and slow and it will work out better for both of you. Good luck :) Desert Rose - how was it stopping the night feeds? Can you elaborate a bit? Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear things are not that great. I totally understand where you are coming from. I had no probs with DS1 but DS2 has proven to be quite a bad sleeper to date (he is 10 months now). Hope you have luck with Cecile. Good luck and keep us posted p.s - I have thought about stopping the breastfeeding too - but I have spoken to other women who said it made no difference. I would check with Cecile before

DubaiCat I also want to stop breastfeeding, but I can't even get him to drink 2 oz of cow's milk. He's 10.5 months old. My little guy is the same age. Is it okay to give cows milk at 10.5 months? I always thought it was 12 months but maybe things have changed since DS1
