The person could have been from a debt collection agency. Many banks "outsource" their debt collection to other companies, and, considering the general state of disorganisation in most banks (!), its very likely that the bank may not have any details about this, which why they couldn't help when you phoned them. I would try to contact the landlord and find out if the story is true. If not, then the landlord can also lodge a complaint with the police and alert his bank about someone using (ruining) his/her name. yes, I agree with rawla. call your landlord.

Le Meridien Al Aqah Fujairah is great with kids. We love it. Not separate rooms but the rooms are big and you can always request a baby sitter and go to one of their excellent restaurants (which are in the entertainer Fine Dining I believe)

I have watched the Australian version. very entertaining. If anyone gets a chance, check out MTV's Catfish documentary. Warning its light and a bit trashy, but so incredible entertaining and will open your mind and make you wonder what on earth is going on in the world...

Ladies would love your input :) Our budget is around 140k for 2 adults, 1 infant, 1 newborn. Plus maid. Having looked around the market at the crazy prices, the options are: 2 bed Springs - too small IMO 2 bed Ranches - bigger than Springs 2 bed + maid Marina - very busy and too much traffic 3 bed in Remraam - sooo far out 2 bed + maid in Motor City - I like this area 2 bed + maid villa in JVC - very sandy and no finished community but nice big villas Al furjan - prices are now 160k :(((( My priority is space (with 5 people in the house), and ideally somewhere finished where we can walk around. Also - not too far commute to "new Dubai". Anyone living in these areas can give me the pros and cons and what yoJu think would be most suited to our situation? TIA :) We lived in a 2 bedroom+maids in JBR when we only had two kids and I loved it. Is this an option? you would be best to focus on the shams or amwaj sectors as I believe the traffic isn't too bad. Otherwise, I would go with Arabian Ranches although I admit that I don't know Motor City edited by Tru Blu on 01/10/2013

don't watch The Following, its so violent and "heavy" dreadful! But so damn good. Life is violent in itself. DH insisted on finishing it, and I admit Kevin Bacon is very believable in his role, but I spent half the time looking away from the screen. You wouldn't want the wrong type of person watching something like that.

Hello Tru Blu Here are the details. http://thinkbuzan.com/training/details/thinkbuzan-licensed-instructor/ Seminar will conduct on 20th October. I was looking at this to join but very costly.. Thank you halfmoon. Oh my goodness, that is expensive! it would be so good though. I noticed there was a 30% discount for groups of 4+ people. That would make it cheaper... if we could raise the numbers edited by Tru Blu on 27/09/2013

TDB, hope this is of some help! http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic118172-mission-pat-and-sush-day-1.aspx?Page=1 Thanks Tattie xx Oh my goodness!!!! this thread is 3 years old, talk about flashbacks (not good ones either!!!). I am sure that your little girls sleeping pattern/habits are nothing like my DS's. He was2 years and 9 months before he slept through the night. I tried everything, everything, apart from full blown CIO. Just not up for it.

I was desperate for DS2 to be sleeping through the night before my twins were born but it didn't happen. I have never been a great sleeper myself and DS2 is probably like me. We can't all be great sleepers. Anyway, when the twins arrived it became DH's sole responsibility to deal with DS2. Everything worked out in the end. In fact, for a good 6 weeks before the twins were born I slept in a room by omyself and let my hubby and our 1 year old and 3 year old sort themselves out, which to my amazement they did just fine. As for the food, definitely get that sorted. I have a friend who was so concerned about chocking that she pureed and pureed and missed the boat completely. Before she knew it her baby was 4 years old and still required pureed food!!!! edited by Tru Blu on 25/09/2013

ON a day when 59 people have been murdered in a shopping centre with more held hostage and 60 people have been murdered in an attack on a church with over 100 injured, you are worried about a song? Switch it off and worry about something important Actually suze63, some could argue that tv, music videos, music lyrics, video games, internet etc is the root of much evil and poisons young minds. I am so saddened about what has/is happening in Nairobi at the moment, but this is not trivial. Not one bit. Our youth are being exposed to such awful things in this day and age and I fear what lies ahead edited by Tru Blu on 23/09/2013

Not sure how easy it will be to find a good nursery that takes kids from 10+ months, but if your little guy is going to be in full-time you really want to do your best to get him into one of the best nurseries. I love Little Land but I think 12 months (he will be that in Jan right?) is too young there. Try these for starters: Cocoon Home Grown Children's Oasis, Umm Suqeim 2

12 weeks...I'm sure it was closer to 20 weeks when they know what it is. I remember with my first i was informed when i was 17weeks. I'm sure there are loads to keep us busy lol....I think I might wait until I'm 12 weeks though, save need my ingredients lol Most experienced sonographers can tell the gender at 12 weeks and 4 days+ Apparently there is a notable difference in those 4+ days... There can be some confusion between 14.5-16 weeks I have heard as little boys and little girls can look the same.

OK I will be the guinea p!g. I have baking soda at home so will do the test and report back tonight. May start another thread where people can say what their results were and how accurate it was. I should have the real answer from the scan in about 5 weeks. FWIW I am convinced it is a boy this time. I am eating round the clock (today - 4am crackers, 7am reheated mashed potato, 9am pain au chocolat, 11am more crackers, 12pm thai lunch). Also strong MS and a pointy bump. Let's see. I have 4 kids and each pregnancy was completely different, completely (I have 3 boys and a girl). I have a friend with 5 boys and again such completely different pregnancies (cravings, size and shape of bump, appetite etc). I guessed right with all of mine but only because of the "gut" feeling. That is the strongest tool you have if you want to predict before your scan. The rest is all nonsense (although I am interested to hear about the baking soda test!! haha)

I have always thought that closer to 3 is a better age to start (not knocking anyone though, we all have to do what we have to survive mentally/financially etc). If you don't feel that you need to put her in to give yourself a rest or to go back to work then maybe waiting would be better. She wont learn sharing at this age anyway, too young.

I did it at Al Wasl a few years ago. It wasn't easy you are right but it was possible and by far the cheapest option. How long until your anatomy scan? I understand the want/need/desire to know.

Agree with aadams. They don't like the phrase "gender scan". are you going to Latifa? if yes, I think they can do the gender scan from 19 weeks....why don't you ring and put pressure on for an earlier appointment. Ring them twice a day for cancellations.... they will get sick of your voice and squeeze you in

I love this soup - Heat olive oil, add chopped courgettes and loads of garlic cloves (I love garlic so put in about 7 cloves) sauté on a low heat for about 10 minutes. Add fresh basil and cook for a further 5 minutes. Add stock or water, simmer for 15 minutes. Blend, and serve. Delish!

The best by far is Union Bank. They do a ladies account which is free free free. No minimum balance, nothing. The one at Gold and Diamond Park is really good. I did extensive research on this last year when I opened a bank account for my Maid as she needed one to get a visa to come with us to Greece. edited by Tru Blu on 04/09/2013

Ginee my 5 year old son has been doing this for about 6 months. Not sure what girls are like at 5, but my son is really into super heros and LOVES watching things on TV with villans and badies etc.... I really monitor his TV but admit that I let him watch a few movies here and there and most of them are a bit scary. Even things like Scooby doo can scare the wits out of them. As much as he loves being scared by things on TV, I think that this can have an impact at night time when it is pitch black. At age 5 they seem to develop more awareness of things and their minds are like wildfire, as are their imaginations. I think it is probably pretty age appropriate and like most things, is just a phase. Not good about the insomnia, you have to look at the sleeping arrangements but I personally think if kids are scared, they need to be comforted. You can't loose sleep over it though so need to look at how it can work. Good luck!

My advice is to at least get an insurance to cover premature birth, NICU, complications, etc... My friend at least got those things covered when she was pregnant without insurance, and it was really worth it. The baby was born only a few weeks premature and only spent a few days in the incubator, but that alone cost nearly 15,000 AED extra on top of everything. I'd hate to think how much she'd have to pay if the baby needed more treatment or more days in the incubator. Laura do you know which company she got this insurance through? Im in the same situation and it would be a huge weight off my mind. Thanks ADNIC will do this. They will actually insure a woman who is already pregnant - it falls under their "pre-existing conditions" category!

Hi ladies, I'm really double minded about getting DD her 1 year MMR vaccine, apparently some studies show it can cause some problems including Autism. I'm going to be putting her name down in schools this September, will they check her vaccination history and deny entry to the school if she hasn't had all her vaccinations? She has had all her vaccines to date (HipB etc), I'm just not sure about the MMR one personally I think 1 year of age is too young for this vaccine.

Hi, congratulations!!!! I had one of my kids at Latifa in 2010. Overall it was a good experience but I understand that it is not nearly as cheap as it use to be. They do however offer excellent care to high risk pregnancies. Another option that could be worthwhile exploring is contacting ADNIC - they will cover someone with a pre-existing condition, which happens to include pregnancy. Prices are reasonable and perhaps on par with the costs at Latifa. It could be worthwhile getting a quote and then you could go private which is nicer.

Hi Ladies , can some one recommend whether anodized or stainless steel is healthy and long lasting.I need to change all my nonstick pans and would like to know the suggestion.i recently checked tefel annodized and also they had in stainless steel.can some one please suggest which is good or any other brand.thank you I would go cast iron (with enamel coating) or copper. They are expensive but I don't trust the others. I think stainless steel is okay - it has been around for years and years with no documented side effects.

Mark Sinclair is the best in Dubai. My son broke his leg when he was 22 months and I investigated then. Mark Sinclair's name came up time and time again. We initially went to Emergency at City but transferred to Medcare where Sinclair operates. This was 18 months ago now so not sure if things have changed.
