I would think so, but there will be more knowledgeable people on this issue to answer your question. Especially if anything happens to one of the dogs etc....

I live in Umm Sequiem 2 and often see this monkey on a lead. I don't think it is a baboon, but either way it shouldn't be on a lead living in a residential area. Feel sad for it. oh really. It is the first time I have seen it and my eyes nearly popped out of my head!!!! I guess it was walking/running around solo which didn't help. Agree - it should not be a pet :-(

DJ, I had 4 children in 3.5 years. RIght now, the eldest nearly 5, the second is 3 and the TWINS are 16 months. It is hectic yes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I have good home help which makes a big difference because you really need help and when babies and little kids are involved you need very good help Personally I think if you really want 4 kids (in your big picture) then just go for it. Just stay in the "crazy zone" that is babies and toddlers rather than coming out of it and then going back into it in a few years time. Just be warned... you could get twins!!!! haha

My 17 month DS has been scratching his bum a lot lately, i suspect its worms. Just got zentel medicine from pharmacy but it says for 2 years and older. Has anyone dewormed their little ones under 2? What medicine did you use? I always get someone coming to visit to bring in a worm medicine (In my case, combantrin from Australia). You should de-worm the whole family (including your Maid if you have one)

I have been the last 2 or 3 years and really enjoy it. Last year we went VIP but this year I got discount tickets on groupon (or one of the others) and I think this will work out better. I have seen the VIP tix discounted slightly but not much. I think the general consensus on expat woman last year was that VIP is not really worth it.

Hi Ladies, It is likely that we are moving to AD in the next few months (it is becoming more and more of a reality). My kids are all young (4 under 5) and we have a Maid so it is a fairly large party! I recall someone once saying that there is a place close to AD (but not actually in AD) that has decent sized villas with Maids rooms at affordable prices (I am thinking no more than 130,000). Ideally I would like to be fairly close to decent schools and nurseries. I would really appreciate any advice thanks in advance!!!!

Sorry I can't help you. We nearly went to Singapore for a couple of weeks last year but it is so incredibly expensive for accom (and we are a family of 6) that we went to Europe instead. I searched for an apartment for weeks and couldn't find anything affordable at all. That said, Singapore is a wonderful place and once you are settled you will love it edited by Tru Blu on 03/02/2013

Moms with maids/nannies, we would like to make an internal agreement between the maid/nanny that we are about to sponsor (besides the unified employment agreement for domestic workers and sponsor ) listing duties, dooes and donts etc, does any of you have a sample that you do not mind to share, or know good sample to download? It would be a time saver..thank you I don't have an internal agreement as such, but I do have a thorough list of rules and expectations that my MIL drew up for me (she has 30 years experience with Maid) It covers everything from working for another family (not allowed) to not smacking the children to personal hygiene and even when and where to wash their clothes. Obviously it is not legally binding and I would never bet my life that my Maid sticks to it, but at least it is very clear to her what I expect and what is important to me. Let me know if you want a copy

I wouldn't be rushing to the Dr/Hospital in this country, they would want to x-ray and unless you are really concerned, you don't want to subject your baby to an x-ray of the head

My son has his MMR vaccine shot coming up in June, and I am already started to get worried about it because my husbands nephew has autism. We have currently done all his jabs at the government clinics, and I was considering doing his MMR and chicken pox vaccine at a private clinic. What do you ladies think? Would it make a difference? My nephew has autism too and I have opted to delay the MMR until my children are 2.5+ It just isn't worth there risk. I know the majority of people firmly believe that MMR and other vaccines do not cause autism, but during my extensive research on the subject I discovered plenty of parents and health professionals who believe that it is a factor. If there is a family history better to delay it.

There is lots of new stuff in there though....Apres in MOE is back, The Ivy, Latitude Brunch at JBH, Mina a Salam Brunch (ANY beverage package), Rivington Grill (both venues). It still saves us a great deal of money at any rate, although hugely frustrating when a favourite disappears. agree. There are things missing but there are new things too. It gives an excuse to try somewhere new!!!!!

tofu shirataki noodles can be found at Lulu's Barsha - Dhs 7 a packet, in the refrigerator section close to the vegs. Or I heard you could also buy them in the oriental store behind Lamcy Plaza......... I have also seen them in Choitrams recently. Otherwise Dean's behind LAMCY do the yam shirataki noodles

There are quite a few differences between the UAE plan and the regional plan that I was on. I think I considered the UAE plan as it was a lot cheaper but it did not cover me fully in the event of complications with a twin pregnancy/birth

ADNIC, and they are good. Thanks...I tried them and they waned 45K from me!! Daman only 16K! I will go to Daman's Dubai branch and talk to them and see which hospitals I can use with them (only have 2 in mind) or decide if to pay City Hospital direct. Soooo much to think about! Aswell as feeling blooming awful! hahaha x Hi johjoh, ahhh, I can see from the other thread about Daman that this is the same situation ;-) I had Daman for only 1 year. During this year I had twins, I had major surgery on my legs, one of my son's broke his leg!, another one of my boys split his head open etc.... it was very eventful. As a result, Daman tried to triple our premium when we went to renew! that's when we went to ADNIC (who are also very good)

which cover do you have? the UAE or Regional? I had Regional. It was fabulous, no complaints at all. I had my twins at City Hospital (Dr Elsa) via c-section and they covered the lot. They also paid for the "repair" of my legs after as I had dreadful varicose veins.

You cant really blame her. Surely she can get a job with the same type of salary and a lot less kids to look after. Any human being would look out for an easier option. If she doesnt want to be there anymore let her go. Correct. If she doesn't want to be here then I definitely don't want her. It's sorted now thank goodness. But just want to state that it is highy unlikely that she would get the same salary that we offer. Yes, there are 4 kids and the job is tough but we pay her accordingly.

I understand your maid wants to look for something more secure. If your husband isn't sure of his job, maybe it's better not to renew her visa, as you might need the money if something goes wrong. I would let my maid go in this case, no matter how much you intend to take care of things. yes maybe you are right too, however we are going to stay until atleast end of April so I think it is worth it. As I said, I have 4 small kids that are all very familiar with her and I want to unsettle them as little as possible. edited by Tru Blu on 08/01/2013

I honestly think its unreasonable to ask someone to hang around in times of job insecurity. There's no guarantee she'll find a job should you have to leave and she could very well be left high and dry despite your efforts and promises. And yes, 4 children - what a handful eh :) But she has worked for me for a while now and she knows I am a good honest person that keeps my word. I would never leave her high and dry and I am certain that she knows that. Yes, 4 is a handful and I think she is probably hoping to get a family with older or no kids ;-) NOOOOO :) I'm not questioning your integrity. I meant that when the time comes for you to go there may not be a job out there for her. Whereas if she can look and find one now she'll be ok. yes, I know, you are right actually. I can't blame her for feeling insecure, I guess I would as well in this situation.

okay, she is telling me that she wants to stop work asap and start looking for a new job full time (she said many people get upset if you want to come for an interview at 7pm at night, they want day time only) However, it never bothered me when I was looking. I also get the impression that she would want to keep living with me during this time. I do owe her about 10 days holidays so not sure if that is something that I need to consider. I would prefer to pay her out for those days.

This might sound silly but ensure mobile phones are switched off, wifi is switched off, ditto any electrical gadgets and avoid alarm clocks that plug into the wall . Some people are more affected by this than others. I first connected bad night's sleep with realising I'd left my router switched on. It only ever hapened when router which was right at door of my bedroom was left on. I am sensitive to these things and I turn everything off before I go to bed.

This is right? I had a personal visit from my "Relationship Manager" and she brought along some guy trying to sell me an investment plan. Together they bugged me for a month or two before I told them (in no uncertain terms, where to go). The really annoying thing is that for all of my queries and concerns regarding our bank accounts, she told me to call the call centre!!!!!! Grrrrrr edited by Tru Blu on 11/12/2012

For anyone who has any information on a good maid available asap [email protected]. Thanks Maroosh! TDB- Thank you I just contacted her. Shes going to see me tomorrow so lets see how she is. Did the agency you go through also do live in maids? Hey DCC - yep we are using Howdra, purely because I don't want any sponsorship issues and so on, rather just pay them a monthly fee and have them sort it all out! They do live-ins. BTW I have never met with lillibeth so can't vouch for her, but hope she is good. She is 45yo. Hi DB, just fyi really - we used Howdra for a while but when it was discovered that the live-in maid was stealing money from us Dave (owner) still insisted that my husband do all of the dirty work (police etc) I guess it is still worth it if you don't want to sponsor, but don't be lured into thinking that if she acts up you won't have a bit of a nightmare on your hands.

Suzimack, are you signed up for Cobone, Yallabanana and Groupon deals? They often have deals for reputable companies (some listed in the responses below such as KMedi Spa) for LHR. If you get one of these deals you can have it done very cheap.

Hi Sandy Dogg, We have been to them all. Dr Habash and Millicent Grimm have quite different ideas and we received markedly different prescriptions from each for our 4 year old. Millicent Grimm's fees are the cheapest of all and personally I like her a lot although Dh is now taking Ds to Moorefields. I am nit familiar with Dr Janice sorry.
