When i went to the doc after a home pregnancy test i was sure she would do a blood test to make sure... but the staff just took a strip test like the one i did myself and that was that... home preg tests are pretty reliable even at in early days but still if you wont be satisfied with anything less than a blood test then i agree with mssassy, go the nearest Aster Clinic...

The two healthiest people (neurotically so re diet) i have ever known have both died, one to cancer and one to murder both before they were 45! Life's to short to worry about frigging teaspoons of sugar in a glass of orange juice. That's true, but one should worry if one becomes obese and a nuisance to oneself and others, as a result of indulging oneself too much...

Its extremely irritating how some people pull out the racist sympathy card at any given opportunity... even if to justify their own bad conduct... heartily wish you had taken her to the police, but dont worry if she goes on this way someone soon will... ;)

I had a few hair loss phases in my life, the latest one in Dubai about a year ago. I found two things that work: 1) Regaine (there is one for women, too) - same type as Rogaine, see that it has 2% minoxydil in it and apply religiously every day. You might see hair falling down again once you stop using it though. Didn't happen to me but I only used it for a couple of months and once the hair stopped falling I stopped applying. 2) Someone on this forum recommended Phytophanere capsules. I think it was Beebers, God bless her. They worked wonders for me. For real! Didn't help nails much but I forgot all problems I had with my hair. It stopped falling, it got thicker, and it grows faster. And it happened really quick. I would totally recommend trying them out. Good luck! edited by The Russian on 12/12/2013 Hi Russian... did you have any adverse affects of these products.... I am always wary of using such products fearing it might have hormonal ramifications or something... especially the capsules.... sorry for being a bit crude but did hair anywhere else (besides the head) got thicker too when u took the tablets...??

Something that has helped me a lot in getting out of depression, besides prayers, is 'staying busy' in social work or community service... there is no peace like the one you experience when you are able to help others, make a difference in someone's life, i call it 'peace of giving' ... it makes you feel life and you both are worthwhile... 'after prayer, giving' is what feeds the soul ... that's something we lose focus of in our mundane existence... hope you come out of your depression... my prayers are with you...

Oh!!.. by the way ... my sis on someone's suggestion installed a filter in her shower... she was that freaked out when she moved here... however i don't see much difference in her condition than mine... however maybe she would have been in worse condition had she not.. who knows... after all the level of hair fall varies among people under given circumstances depending on their adaptability to the climate and water... so it might work for some of you...

hair fall is a common complain among expats in Dubai... my hair has really thinned out since i moved here and most of the women i know complain of the same problem... the common belief is its the water... God knows... however your case (janatks) seems to be a bit extreme and should be looked into definitely...

Me and my husband got our police certificate for good conduct made sometime back.. It went pretty smooth... As far as i remember they did not take fingerprints as they checked original Emirates ID (emirate ID is made with all the fingerprints taken) ... they ask you the reason (mine was for immigration) .. dont know if it matters what the reason is and hope your reason is good enough for them... :) ... we were in a hurry so we too picked up our certificate ourselves...

@ primus.9 ... a few days back some friends of friends visited from UK and they bought this voucher book Entertainer Dubai ... was the first time i heard of it... was really impressed... It is for 356/-AED ... and has 2 volumes thick books... mostly it is for dining but there is also a Sports, Pleasure ans Leisure section ... the deal is with each voucher you pay for one person and one person goes or eats free... and each place offers 3 to 6 vouchers... you can check it out online too i believe but just go through the book once and you would know if its worth your while (according to the nature of your crowd) ... i think its a great deal for people who have guests coming all year round as its valid for one year... hope it works for you

My mother in law is in her 60s ... she hardly ever used computer in her life... but when she came over this summer she learnt how to use iPad in a few days... she loved it and found it very easy to use... so my vote is for iPad too... :)

Have you tried the home remedies like having a class of warm milk and brisk walk just before going to bed?? Praying or meditation also helps many people... since it elevates ones mind from numerous daily worries and irritants and focus on one thing, "the object of prayer or meditation' ... it would be better to find out the cause of sleeplessness before starting on any meds.. if it is psychological rather than biological then its better not to take any sleeping pills (besides numerous side affects, they are addictive)... cause usually teenagers sleep more than adults as they are growing up and its their physical need... so probably what would make a teenager sleepless after a long day would be un-relaxed or over-worried mind.. thats just a personal opinion of course.. hope you find a good solution for you child..

Hi, i used to feed my baby just a few teaspoons of solids at 6 months to get her tummy and tongue used to the solid food.. someone gave me a a very useful advice, that when you start on solids give your baby the same food for at least 3 to 5 days to see whether he is allergic to it or not... this way you would know which food to avoid in future... also start with salty food rather than sweet, since babies tend to reject salty food later on if their sweet tooth is developed on the onset.. concentrate on nutritional food initially rather than tasty, cause this way he will develop a taste for boring nutritional food as well.. finally if possible dont give him any packaged baby food.. make his food urself...thats the best we can do for our babies.. My baby adapted to solids very fast... but i know thats not the case with every baby... so dont despair if your baby takes his time.. Happy feeding...

Hi gaijind, I think babies keep changing their nursing habits with time.. my baby also started getting up around 4 to 5 am to feed when she was almost one and then kept waking up many times.. now she will be 2 next month and its still the same... i just give up by 7am and let her sleep with me on our bed... i feed her in afternoon as well to put her to sleep.. Although it can become trying at times but i just could not bring myself to stop breastfeeding my baby earlier and completed the 2 year period.. i felt i owed it to my baby... now that i have to stop i feel sad.. as if i will lose a special bond with her that only we share...
