I always wanted to have at least 3 children but never conceived (naturally) after the first one and at 40 feel a bit old for it. You are right it can be hard work initially but one can have more to look forward to in old age in a bigger family setup, and the siblings will have each other. I would go for another if I were you, if you physically feel up to it.

its sad how schools and our societies in general have imposed this image of social behaviour that we must all conform to, while there always will be loners in this world, who'd rather be by themselves and be happy (and even successful) at what they happen to do well at. I do understand though that what you are worried about is the change in his behaviour which means he was not socially anxious before. I think while seeking counsel and therapy, its best not to pressurize him to be social, the expectations might be suffocating for him at the moment, and isn't it more important to be happy and content in life rather than be socially acceptable but miserable. It probably is a phase anyway and will pass, God willing !

My DD hates nuggets and other frozen store items.. so I make a lots of chicken cheese rolls and freeze them (air fry) , then there is homemade shawarma sandwich which she loves, I make burger patties and freeze them and just put the burger together in the morning the way she likes, chicken cheese quesadillas, sandwiches, Pancakes, french toasts, pot made pound cake (which is super easy to make) .. I add a fruit or 2 along with one of these wholesome items and we are all set to go

If you buy a pre-owned car from direct owner or even from a dealer you can always get a pre-purchase check up done through the company I use for my annual registration renewal, icar registration services, 0556600799. I got it done through them when I bought my car 5 years back and am happy I did!

I always find prayer the best way to de-stress, there is nothing better than the conviction that a higher power is out there to listen and help.

was your child happy with this move to Dubai? .. though she seems too young but maybe its separation anxiety from all things familiar is the cause. However, a year seems too long a time to be suffering with that!

I am shipping my car to UAE from US - will I need to buy insurance before I pick it up? Is the best way online? Any recommendations for best car insurers? I believe you will need insurance after custom clearance. You can buy insurance at the traffic department or maybe its better to call companies and get a quote beforehand. My insurance company is Methaq for the past few years and I am quite satisfied with them.

For starters it will be best you gain some experience in your homeland (if you are still there) and then apply in Dubai and also do B-Ed on the way as you cant teach in Dubai without that, its a ministry requirement.

Hi Twirl, sorry to hear about your migraines. I heard that Hijama can be very beneficial for this however, it is advised for you to check your blood beforehand as if you have Anemia it can be dangerous apparently so better to be safe I think. Thanks Zuhairah... thought the same..will definitely get it done in a clinic and inform about my anemia...god bless your treatment..!

I have migraine issue since long, but they have become very frequent recently. I have heard hijama helps in that a lot. However my hemoglobin levels are always low which makes a bit apprehensive of the treatment. If I may ask what you want to get it done for Zuhairah and if you know whether the hemoglobin levels matters? . TIA

Recently, a friend of ours lost his job, he requested the company not to cancel the visa for a few months so that he can look for a job and they agreed, he got rehired within 3 months, all the while his family staying in Dubai... but I am sure it depends a lot on the kind of relationship one has with the company. In this case they were just downsizing and he was an employee for years with them so they probably cut him some slack as good will. Hope something like that can work in your case if you share your predicament with the company!!

My husband recently received a round up of 6000/AED fines on Abu/Dhabi Dubai highway for one offense only. As he left a petrol station a police officer stopped him and said his 2 wheels were on the wrong side of the yellow line for a while. My husband says it maybe so for a very little while. Anyway the officer gave him a ticket, 18 black points on his DL, and car impound for 15 days, which once all paid off will come close to 6000 dirhams. We simply have no idea what happened there and there is no way to contest anythings.

When my husband was applying for jobs on different job sites, he too received some such offers. Naively i would be so excited after the first one, but my husband knew it was fraud. These people are so cruel and unscrupulous.. its a shame they are not brought to justice..!

Thanks Fazzled. By sensitive nature I meant she gets emotionally distressed and scared easily. That is the reason I felt it was psychological issue. She just vomitted once and was not sick before that, no phlegm issues either. But yesterday evening she was better. Whatever it was is better now. I think my staying calm rubbed on to her or maybe if it was a bug it was cured, alhumdullilah... :) My daughter, now 10, but has always been sensitive like your daughter since very small. Still now she can be very worried and stressed easily. As Daza said, you have to be calm and relaxed, so that she can feel that nothing is wrong with her and she will relax too. It's harder when they get bigger... When everybody were talking about Ebola, my daughter came home from school one day and went straight to the shower, scrubbed herself almost skinless, dressed in layers and was really worried that she could have gotten Ebola, that she actually got a fever and was sick all night. It takes time when the are bigger to convince and reassure them, specially when they get info from outside (school and friends) Good luck :) OMG Samoura 1 ... Just yesterday a similar episode happened with my DD... I used to reinforce not wasting water and she used to listen... But now her teacher had told them that if we waste water 'everyone will die' ?.. I am sure she was making a point... But my DD being my DD has taken it to heart... I opened the tap yesterday to fill up a tub of water for washing and she completely freaked out... At first I couldn't help but laugh... But she was so distressed, first she herself went in and close the tap and when I opened it again she just started crying her heart out... Between all the ruckus I tried to explain that mama is not wasting water she is using it... But she kept saying that everyone will die... I really had to calm her down and explain several times... But she still didn't seem convinced Man I convinced myself yesterday that she will become better as she'll grow up... But from what you say that might not happen... She is so careful in everything... I am sad she can't enjoy childhood like we did... I was afraid of nothing as a child, even ghosts were exciting...! I just hope as an adult she gains confidence...

For the ones who are fasting, all Iftar buffets are rip-offs . Simply because it's not possible to eat much right after almost 15 hours of not eating or drinking at all. What you really want to do is drink a lot which leaves little space for food. This is the reason we never really go for buffets on our own, but I had been invited to some like Lal Qila and BBQ Delight... The food is great.. Ambience is ok... A bit crowded on iftar... !

I've had this happen with all of my children to some degree after a bout of vomiting. She'll be picking up on your worry so even though it's hard try to stop stressing about it. I would present food to her as normal making sure to sit with her and eat with her also (if you aren't already). Don't press her to eat and don't make a big deal out of it, just mention how much you are enjoying it and stay relaxed. If she doesn't eat don't make a fuss, just try again the same way next mealtime. If she's lost a lot of weight or seems listless or unwell in any other way I'd take her to the doctor for a check up. Hope she is back to normal soon :) Thanks Daza ... It was a relief to read your reply... I will do as you suggested... I was kinda getting frustrated by her attitude and had started convincing her more vehemently ... Now will be as normal as possible She is not weak or listless cause although food intake has decreased its not like she is not eating... And anyway it's been just a week... But definitely I will take her to the doc in case I see signs of malnutrition ...

Although both parties are equally responsible for good relationship... But being older MIL is expected to be wiser and can really help set the relationship on the right footing on the onset... But then again wisdom is not necessarily something that comes with age by default... Thus the frictions... I think non interference in each other's business and having a control over one's tongue are the golden rules both MIL and DILs should hold on to... Closes doors to a number of conflicts...

Three months is too short a time span to stop missing home... its been 5 years and i am still often nostalgic for things i used to do with family and friends back home... crave to go back home for holidays.. no length of time seems enough and always come back to Dubai with a heavy heart... Having said that... I am very well settled here... even though I have no transport and I don't go out as such and have an average social life ... don't watch movies, TV etc either to kill time... what has helped me is being busy with an online project with a close friend... an online course... So i feel it really helps to make use of whatever resources you have available ... Just give yourself time and try to get busy in positive activities and inshallah you will settle down soon...

My sis went for umrah recently and got me a ring size digital tasbeeh... Absolutely love it since I can wear it on a finger and press away easily... Very comfy.... Maybe you can get it here too but then one usually gets that kind of stuff from Saudi .... In case you are getting the souvenirs for a Muslim then I would say a zamzam, a prayer mat and digital tasbeeh... Otherwise one of those beautiful intricately designed Aud bottles packed in colorful boxes and Ajwa dates...

My DD dropped water on our laptop... i googled what to do and the advice i got was to let it dry out completely for at least 24 hours .. we put it out in the sun for a while and then in front of a fan... but it didn't work for us... we got it repaired by Hp service centre as it was hp product.. if your computer is working and you are just afraid of electrocution you can just give it a day or 2 to dry completely before starting to use it again...

A very interesting and intellectually/spiritually engaging lecture 'The Lives of Human Being' by Hamza Yusuf here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G1Cyj7gt9k ... great source to understand life from Islamic perspective With time people tend to turn inwards, become more tuned into their spiritual self because the reality of one's mortality has started sinking in, that is why in general observation people who have 'faith' become more religious as they grow older... so in all probability you will become more religious with time as you do 'believe' and it will matter to you that he is not religious... 'faith' is a powerful force, don't make the mistake of underestimating it, or overlooking it while making the most important decision of your life.. you will never be in peace unless you are at peace with your Creator, so prioritize Him over His creation... may He makes you come to the right decision...

This is what is scary about the 'new' terrorism, it is now the lone wolves riding below the radar who are the scariest and most dangerous, , the organised groups can be detected and monitored, but it's the crazy one's who are the ones to be feared. Really I do believe it's still the same old game... Just seemingly a new technique... Sadly Islam is just as under attack as the rest of the world, as despite being a part of the world it is being more and more alienated... Thank god for the sane people of this world who retain their innate goodness and humanity to recognize this fact and stand for rationality... Like the Germans against Pegida... Praying for a world free of hate and full of love...

i would give similar to what is given in the shoe box appeal, ie. a vest, toothbrush, toothpaste, deo, shavng foam, razor, soap and a phone card etc. however, in the spirit of Christmas, here's a little story about what happened to my DH the other day. He'd been out in the garden with the gardener who comes a couple of times a week. He'd gone out to give him some extra money as a Christmas bonus. But the chap didn't want to take it. He said, "Sir, thank you so much for offering to give me money. But what means more to me than money, the fact that you say hello & how are you every time. Most people, they treat us like we are invisible. They ignore us. A few say hello, but that's it. Most people ignore us. Nobody ever says 'how are you'. you are the only one of my customers who says how are you. To most people, we are invisible". I found this quite moving - [b'>maybe in the New Year we can all make more of an effort with the people who do our menial jobs for us.[/b'> :) Yes !! ... to people who have little, respect and acknowledgment mean more than anything... love this new year resolution... will spread this message... ! Great effort by OP :)
