Thank you for the tip! I dont think I trust myself to get it right... Has anyone used a handyman for hanging pictures? Would love a recommendation as opposed to finding someone on yellow pages! TIA!

Hi Taffy, your options would be as follows: 1) Visa run 2) Go to immigration and pay 750 AED and renew your visit visa (this is for Dubai immigration and can only be done once) 3) If your husband does not get/need the tenancy contract he will be not be able to sponsor you, which leaves you with the option of of getting an independent visa through employment or starting your own company. 4) If there are children involved, then unfortunately there is no way to sponsor them under your husband without the attested tenancy agreement - in which case I suggest you just continue doing the visa run until you get it. I hope this helps x

seriously? did anyone actually READ the article? which, may I add, is correct.... all business set ups in Dubai need to have a physical address. If they decide to cut costs by opting for a Virtual Office solution they are definitely doing so illegally, as per the article. Companies such as creative zone (who i have a license with) are issuing a free zone license and not a dubai license, and the requirement for a physical office is for dubai licenses (as per the article). hth's.

Vanillacupcakesdxb... yeah, noticed that, but to be completely honest I am happy with the service I have had. I think its important for people to understand that they are not the free zone and they are not the UAE immigration, they are business set-up consultant. If you think about it, if an airline cancels a flights is it the travel agents fault? Not really ....but the airline. I can understand your fustration, and if you want to send me a mail to discuss or know more info please do. HTH,S

Hi Nadia, a few of my friends and I have used Creative Zone for business set up. They are based at the fairmont hotel on sheikh zayed road. They definately have a freelancer option there and i believe the trade license is about 17,000dhs... my friend did exactly the same as you and as long as you enter the uae every six months, its not an issue - as far as i know. I know they are offering some special promotions this month because of ramadhan so you might be able to get a good deal! they have a website with info and pricing, but your best bet would be to call them or pop in and see them HTH's

I've just said on another post, regarding company set up... If your considering a consultancy based company, offering services ... I definitely would advise getting intouch with creativezone, they are based at the fairmont dubai. There is a list of business activities on their website that you can get a trade license for, see if what you want to do fits.... www.creativezone.ae hth's

Dont know anything about virtuzone, but a friend of mine has recently setup with creative zone and swears by them... they had her papers done in days, they printed her business cards , she gets her phone number answered by a receptionist in her own companies name and then they direct the call to her where ever she is....now i think thats cool! She basically gets the support of having an office as well as setting up her company. Its actually tempted me to think of something to set up myself.... didnt realise how easy it was. As a result all my coffee mornings and lunches have turned into brainstorming sessions for business idea's with fellow mums LOL! HTH's

The supermarket next to Baitong stock all Thai ingredients... their fresh produce... tiny green eggplants, baby egg plants, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, chili's, galangal, Thai basil, Thai parsley (the one needed for pad Thai) etc etc etc.... all come from Thailand and the delivery day last time I checked was Wednesday. S if you want it really really fresh, go on a Wednesday morning. Hth's :) (craving a green curry now!!)
