Hi Advm, i totally understand and have done my homework- i am giving myself two years after the surgery to loose the weight. It didnt appear overnight so surely it wouldn't magically drop off overnight either. I am ready to make the change in the way i eat, the surgery will serve as an aid to assist my weight loss process- not as a magic cure. In fact having surgery is more difficult than regular dieting. At least when you diet you have the option of a "cheat day" but surgery is a permanent mind and lifestyle shift which I will have to follow whether i feel like it on any particular day or not. Its taken me a LONG time {nearly 10 years} of trying everything under the sun to reach this point.I do believe that any diet can work but due to some medical and/or psychological reasons its not working for me now. I do believe that after doing the surgery i will be more motivated to loose the weight for a few reasons. 1 being the surgery costs so much im not going to walk out of surgery straight to Macdonalds to throw the small fortune i just spent on it. 2. the surgery will make me feel full all the time which means that i would have to make every meal choice count- healthy meals. I have a friend who had the surgery about 30 years ago and till today the lifestyle changes she made then, she still follows now. If she deviates slightly, she feels physically ill- she informs me its been that way since she did the surgery all those years ago. Mentally im done with junk food, its my body which hungers for it- i need to "cut that off" (pardon the pun) but i really do

Hi Sarah, indeed i have- a few infact! i have tried eating for my blood type, food elimination diets , colonic hydrotherapy , pills for my thyroid ,hypnotherapy, subliminal tapes - the list goes on- nothing! diet and exercise should work and trust me ive tried it all. im not going to say "i dont eat but im fat' that would be a lie but at the same time i dont eat huge meals each and every day. i love salty savory things- not a fan of sweets- i just dont get it! my weight used to average 54kg up until i reached around my mid 20's then it was like a bomb exploded inside of me and i just grew and grew despite my efforts. im at my wits end. Obalon would be a solution since there is no surgery involved but im not sure if its available here- next option would be a gastric balloon inserted through the mouth {also non surgical} and if that ALSO DOESNT WORK- last option is surgery for me! edited by Vintaysia1980 on 15/06/2014 edited by Vintaysia1980 on 15/06/2014

Hi Bess, Yeah i know what you mean! we've had this food pyramid drilled in our brains since our school days! I tried the Atkins diet and the South Beach diet which didnt do much for me either- nothing seems to work for me. 1 year of gym and a few kg's down only to gain in back all in one go- hectic, im so sick of it! I want to do surgery, im really digging the OBALON pill- not sure if its available in UAE though! I saw some youtube vids from Saudi- its available there edited by Vintaysia1980 on 15/06/2014
