Wrong thread :D 26th/27th is for Islamic NY. There has been no official announcement yet. Though certain companies may have already kindly decided to give their staff the day off anyway. Oops thanks baked mushrooms

Just went through this, Wiggle. Applied for final bill online on Tuesday and was disconnected by Wednesday!! The final bill takes 3 working days, so when I went in on Thursday to pay it, it wasn't ready. So they disconnect fairly quickly and then prepare the bill. Usually they deduct the final bill from the deposit and give you the difference back. Good luck! Thank you jojomar, so when when did they give you bill, if it wasn't 3 days later?

Hello Ladies, Just a quick update, me and DH went to the RTA at co-op on Thursday, he just needed a photocopy of his passport and visa. (he also took a copy of his license just in case). New License was re-issue in 10 minutes. Then went to the police station at Al Barsha presented his license. Paid the fine and off we went. Thank god everything went very smoothy....

Sorry but I do need to ask something - you've been here 3 YEARS and yet you're not familiar with the rules here? A bad way to leave Dubai? How about bad of your husband to drive a car that's not been maintained properly? I am aslo glad he has been stopped. Too often we moan about the police not enforcing the laws that do exist over here - it's good to see them doing something. I'm sorry if this leaves a bad taint on your time here in Dubai but maybe it will remind you to read up on local laws of the land you live in and look after a vehicle on the road. Thanks redlesley for your response, not making any excuses but my husband thought his lights were actually working it was a honest mistake.

What a bad way to end our journey here in Dubai we have been here for the last three years and we are leaving to go back home to oz ( something I am looking forward to) within the nest few weeks. I will update you ladies when we come back from the police station.

By the way, why did he get pulled over ;) Because his lights at the back were not working. Thank you ladies for your help I am just hoping that they don't ask for a police report. I don't want to even think about what would happen? Do u think that he could go to jail for this..... Ok now I am starting to panic again

The issue date is the same date as my lost license... Which I found back in my home country when I was there over the Summer! Funny that my husband has actually left his license back home too

Same happened to me about 3 yrs ago. Was in a traffic accident and was sent home to find my lisence. Went to the traffic place at union co-op jumeirah and had a new lisence within 15 minutes. Just gave them my passport copy. No date or anything went onto the lisence so no way of telling it was just issued. Do they show the original issue date on the license because I am looking at my license and there is a issue date

Dh and I went to Beirut for 2 days last September and obtained visa at Beirut Airport. From memory I think we went to desk to left of passport control for visa first and I think it is free for visits of up to 48 hours but for more than 48 hours costs something like 25.00 LP so you will need local currency. Check this link http://www.general-security.gov.lb/English Have a good trip really, we are staying in lebanon for 2 weeks and the visa was free
