Hmm, pondering this one still more. Would be tempted to scrawl the mobile and home phone numbers down on the back of the gents toilet door in Rattlesnakes or similar, with a "For a good time, call me now. Im just waiting to hear your se*y voice"...

DH has a friend who thinks its funny to call at stupid o'clock when he has had too many down at the pub (in UK). Well, I got hold of the phone the last time he called, and strangely enough, he hasnt done it since...! It really is terrible when people phone you like that as you automatically expect the very worst, and hence wake up totally, heart pounding and very nervous to answer the phone (or is that just me?) as you really dont want to hear bad news. Then you spend the next 2 hours trying to get back to sleep, muttering "I must go back to sleep, I must go back to sleep, gotta get up in 3/2.5/2/1.5 hours to go to work..." before finally cursing and going the "what the &^%$, Ive now only got an hour until I have to be up anyway so I may as well just get up and watch TV". Then promptly fall asleep in front of the TV! I love the whistle concept, although I think I would actually call them on the landline at 3am, and blow the whistle anyway.... There again, Im just evil...

Id move anywhere, provided that the package was right. NO. Not exactly true. I wouldnt move to the IL's. Not for any amount... Same here except *sigh* the MIL lives in the house next to ours at home which made the decision for me to come to the UAE that bit easier. Oh gawd, thats like my worst nightmare... I feel for you! Yep, I can see how the scales shifted in favour of the UAE...

Well, kind of! All furniture and junk finally made it to the villa, and DH is sort of unpacking. Im going to be in Dubai for the next 6 months though, but will be commuting down to Muscat on the weekends. Anyone up for a coffee over a weekend (or the odd glass of whatever made it over) :D...?

I would just stick with Expedia or even booking.com for flights/hotels or even jsut hotels as sometimes easier to find cheaper flights when looking on airline websites. The local booking companies I have encountered are *** as are the travel agents. What do the *** stars stand for? Cant think of anything bad or blocked except the bovines, and even that would be only in singular... :)

Hi Dan Lou - Im here!!! I kept the said items aside when the packers were here, but they then packed the items that were set aside!!! So, our shipment is set to arrive in Muscat on 5 Feb, although Im still going to be in Dubai for the next 6 months and will be commuting between Muscat and Dubai. As soon as all is unpacked the other side, I will find that box and give you a shout! Dont stress though, its not gone forever :)

We are using Pack n Move for relo to Oman, but I know they do further relocations as well. We used them on our last move as well and they were very very competitive and great service. nothing broken (5 bedrooms!)

Ahh, yes. That one was finished a day or two before the movers arrived to pack the house! The top dolly layer is still sat on our table on display looking pretty...albeit with a few cracks on the ball dress icing....the bottom layer was devoured in no time....:D The look on your daughter's face when you came to collect is why I keep making cakes :)

Busy moving to Oman now. Got a shedload of stuff (5br house, garden stuff and shed, pool table etc). They come, pack, ship, do border stuff and unload other side for 12K! Couldnt argue that!!! Ooops, forgot to say, thats with Pack n Move, who moved us from Mirdif to The Villa six months ago :). They were great - even made the beds!!! Yep, I will do, its just that everything is bottlenecking (moving on Sun / Mon), cancelling visas, sorting out animals, DH flying to NZ for a week, so its difficult to get out to the vet, who is the DM vet in Mushrif, so not very sure Im going to be able to have a logical conversation on the phone since I dont speak arabic and they dont speak much english... :)

Thanks still can't think of anything at the moment that's going to change his mind ;( Just irritated that HE told me that we either go to where he lives or where I do (different ends of the country) not both as we did this before and it ends up costing a lot and I agreed. But now all of a sudden the rules have changed. I offered up another suggestion of meeting but neither he nor the IL took up that idea. Ggrrrr Do what we do - He sees his, I see mine :D. If yours are more fun, you may find him changing his mind!
