Hi everyone! I have done my CACHE 3 course, and I investigated a lot before starting the course. So, there is an online course https://www.nec.ac.uk/course-categories/childcare-and-early-years and it is much cheaper that face to face one. In Dubai, there are 3 companies that are providing this qualification: 1)EYES 2)City and Guilds (Quality matters4children) 3)Arabian child I did it with City and Guilds, and my friends did with EYES and Arabian Child. City and Guilds is the most affordable one comparing with these two. Teachers are dedicated and they don't allow to pass until you meet the criteria. My friends are very happy with Arabian child as well, so I think that is the best for you to call these 3 companies, and decide according to the price or location and timings. EYES is the most expensive one as far as I know. Qualification is ABSOLUTELY the same and recognized by KHDA. I hope I was helpful

They have a terrible reviews on several forums, and everybody agrees that they are rude and unprofessional. But on the other hand, I was always happy with their service: mani/pedi is great, hair cut and blow dry as well. Threading and massage as well.

A friend of mine resigned, and company refused to pay him gratuity, 2 salaries and leave, around 37k dirhams. So he made a complaint in ministry of Labor, but his employer never showed up on appointments, and wash´t responding on e mails, phone calls and messages. All of the sudden, sponsor called him saying that he ¨sorted things out¨ with ministry of labor and friend´s complaint was closed without his knowledge ?! So he said that he won't pay him 1 dirham, and that he will cancel his visa. He is still investigating if all that story with ministry of labor is true, but he needs to know now - if the sponsor can cancel his visa without his knowledge.

Hi ladies, can you please tell me which one of these centers is the nearest to Dubai Marina? I am VERY interested in learning Arabic, but unfortunately I can't afford a tutor. Thanks in advance :) Most of these are in the same area, but just want to know: Are you looking to study conversational Arabic in new standard Arabic or do you want to be able to read and understand Quran, which is classic Arabic (fus'ha)? Hi, thanks for response, I would like to learn conversational Arabic, because I really like the sound of the language and it simply my desire to speak the language of this fabulous country. I am not a Muslim, so reading of Quran is not my priority.

I take Marvelon, it costs 15 Dhs and you don't need a prescribtion to buy OCs here. I started taking them for contraception, not to solve skin problems, it was just a coincidence. I had no bad side effects, but reaction on contraception is very individual. I for example had to give up Yasmina because my body couldn't adjust to them. You never know, your skin might get worse...better to try skin products first. I was using Diane 35 a looong time ago for 6 months maybe, and I remember that those have regulated my period, but after that I started Mercilon (or something like that) and my legs were swollen and horrible. But that was 7 years ago, I am guessing so far they are better. Will try, because I tried everything for hair loss but it was no good. After how many months have you noticed the improvement? <em>edited by wild_cat on 29/12/2013</em>

Hi, I also have an oily t-zone and occasional breakouts, but my skin worsened when we moved to Dubai and I was loosing more hair than usual as well. The best results in improving my skin condition I had with Avene products for oily and problem skin, they are available in pharmacies here. Vichy only made it worse for me too. Vichy thermal water is quite strong and causes allergies in many people. Avene is mild and suitable for sensitive skin, doesn't dry it out, which can lead to even more oil production. My hair and skin problems were unexpectedly completely solved when I started oral contraception. For one year I had perfect skin and no hairloss at all. Unfortunatelly since I've started jogging my skin has become oilier again. edited by Alemania on 28/12/2013 Oral contraceptives... Do I need to go to gynecologist to get one or I can just go to the pharmacy and buy it? Which brand were you using? And did it caused creation of celulitis? :/

I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't eat candies (maybe one Kinder bueno per week). I drink over 3 l of water during the day, and I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits (but I note that here they are different quality) Only bad habit in my diet is that I drink a lot of milk and eat a lot of cheese... I was using Vichy cleansing micellar solution and scrub, but after the last break out, I stopped using anything, only wash with water...

I had never made complaints as an employer I avoid wasting time. I had my staff done that two times and both times they lost the case. It depends on how strong grounds and paper evidence You have. Yes they give priority to employees but yet again you need to be fair. edited by rose717 on 23/12/2013 Thanks, but can you tell me how long does that process take? I contacted a MOL and they told me that what my employer did is completely against the law and that I should file a complaint, so I don't know what to do now....

Thank you so much for your timely reply sarah. I have decided to go with Dr.Nazeer Ahmed Meeran as the cost review for Dr.Michaels and versaillesdentalclinic seems to be much higher. Will visit him this weekend and post the exact cost for invisible braces and treatment duration. Very good decision :-) Dr. Nazeer was also my Orthodontist and he is very good in his work and has an excellent reputation in Dubai. Can you please tell me how much does he charge for braces? Invisible and regular ones, gray? I was quoted 15k

For normal fillings and cleaning I recommend Dr. Madhu as the charges are reasonable. However if you are looking out specifically for an orthodontist my recommendation will be Dr. Nazeer Ahmed Meeran. He is extremely good and the charges are very much reasonable compared to other orthodontists in Dubai. Can you please tell me how much does Dr. Nazeer charge for braces? I know that every case is different, but I was quoted 15k for up braces, up an down.

Hi, I went to En Vouge two times so far, and I really loved the place- saloon is big and nice organized, it is very clean and they use great products. BUT First time I had a haircut, and hairdresser did a great job, but he was very rude. He tried to sell me some product that costs 1000 dirhams, and I said- I am not interested, and he just finished haircut and left without saying a word! Very strange attitude... Second time when I went for few treatments, Filipino girls did an excellent job. I bought the same cobone that you are telling about, but I will go in january. Anyway, maybe this reviews help you decide, but I see they are very negative :(

Wow, I've never heard anyone refer to themselves as a perfect product before... Hahaha I should have that self-esteem when I am negotiating for job conditions apparently :) They got a qualified worker, who was paying from her pocket additional trainings and who was working for very low salary. If I am employer I would be happy to pay somebody low salary, and that somebody is keep on developing herself and giving clients better service that I would be able to. :) I would gain a lot of money on her work, and pay her peanuts- perfect product! :)

Hi, I was shocked when I saw the contract that labor has. First as per that contract, I should have an ticket back home after 2 years of service ( in my contract I DON´T have it), one year of service is enough to repay the visa issue and few minor things are different. Talking about TIME and EFFORT and MONEY and TRAINING that my company invest in me: because of their mistake, my papers were late, and I HAD TO PAY around 2000 dirhams to leave country and enter again, they said that it´s my cost (even though I gave them all papers needed 3 months in advance to make my visa ?!?!?! ) I invested in my training around 20k, and I don´t regret it, because it is for my good (I am referring to the training that I did during this year, not my university and additional courses that I did before starting to work), they never paid one cent for my training- they had a perfect product, I even brought a lot of improved ways of performing the service that my company was offering. So, conclusion is following- in my case, my company invested ONLY in visa issue and NOTHING else. If I complain, I can´t lose any benefit, because I DON´T have absolutely any benefit (flight tickets, housing, car, absolutely nothing) End of service benefit- they put half of my salary as a basic salary, so If I go, I will have 700 dirhams as a end of service benefit, which is ridiculous and doesn´t worth of suffering another year. They find absolutely every possible way to exploit their employees and its still amazing how somebody can think that the company can be victim. I would like to work in one company until my pension, I would´t find it boring, and if I am in some company more years I can develop more and advance in career, but at the moment I am working in a company where they change employees like socks, and they don´t care about people at all. Some of my ex co-workers got ban because Company decided to fire them 1 month before end of 2 years service so company can save money of flight ticket, and those poor people had to return to their home country and wait 6 months. I am the only person who managed to stay in that company one year. If I was no good, they would´t think one second of the TIME and EFFORT and MONEY and TRAINING that I HAVE INVESTED :) :) :) But anyway, this is a real life lesson, and I am still young, and I will know how to recognize a bad employer, because as a newcomer to Dubai, I could´t have a clue who is who. Thanks girls for everything, this was one of my first posts, and I got help and advices needed. Enjoy your Saturday :) <em>edited by wild_cat on 09/11/2013</em>

I just called the labour service, and they checked my contract, and apparently, I don't have a real copy of my contract?!?!? They told me that a different contract is submitted by my company (contract that actually goes along with the law, and as per that law, after one year of service I don´t have to pay anything). So the copy that I have was given to me only to scare me... Amazing what employers do!

hi WILD_CAT As per the labor law visa expenses are company's responsibility. however, if its mentioned in contract, You signed it & it is submitted in tasheel office.. in this case if You resign You should pay the cost. You can check Your contract submitted with labor office on this link http://mol.gov.ae/english/newIndex.aspx# check Print Labour card/ Labour Contract On the other hand, as a company owner I feel really sad how people first come to you seeking job and as soon as they find option they leave company without giving a thought how much company has spent on visa costs. Its normally around 7500-10000 AED cost for one person including everything + the hassles of getting it done. And morally its very bad of You, if you are leaving company without not only fulfilling contract you signed and also before 2 years. Visa costs are normally calculated for 2 years...thats its worth hiring a staff for 2 years at say cost of 10k AED. but if like You some people find better option the next month, You can leave without having a loss and company loses 10k AED for just committing mistake of hiring a greedy person( no hard feelings but I just hate it when people do this without thinking about other side ). If its a corporation, I think its bearable but if it a small company, its kind of cheating. How can You walk away for a better/other opportunity while causing loss for someone? anyway, You can get help by calling labor office on 800665. they are 24/7 available. edited by rose717 on 09/11/2013 Hi Rose717, Thanks a lot for those links and information, I didn't have a clue about Tahsel service I will check it. Regarding to the other thing, I completely understand your point of view and I am guessing that is like this because of the lack of information that I have provided in my post. My company is not a victim, I am. Couple months ago I was harassed, I was almost physically assaulted, and if you knew for what kind of salary I am working, you wouldn't ever called me greedy :( All the other employees are having one year condition in their contract, everybody but me. I don't know if the fact that I have the highest qualification is the reason why my employer thought that in that way he will keep me in company. I repeat, I haven't find another job, but I am simply unhappy, sometimes scared at my job, on daily basis I am being humiliated and mistreated. Imagine that your daughter is in my position, would you be concerned that some company "loses" it's money, while she is in a real problem? Anyway thank you for everything

ministry of Labour I guess - http://www.dubaifaqs.com/ministry-of-labour-uae.php (my husband hasn't had a rise for 4 years !! lol) It's so sad.... But I am guessing that at least he is treated like a human, not like my company treat me (and the rest of staff). I was actually present when my employer said that he likes to sponsor visas, because in that way staff is more obedient?!?!?!

Anyone? maybe most people are thinking that if you signed for 2 years then you should complete 2 years...how would you have felt if your employer had tried to terminate the contract before the end ? (assuming you didn't want to leave..) Hi Doubting Thomas, Thanks for the input, but the thing is - when I was signing the contract, my employer lied to me right in my face that as per UAE labor law, employee pays his visa fees unless she/he stays in the company more than 2 years. It was a terrible lie. In this way employers can treat their stuff terribly, can exploit them and abuse them, and staff wouldn't go because they cannot afford to pay 5k. If I was happy at that place, I wouldn't be thinking of leaving anyway. If my employer wasn't happy with my performance I wouldn't be upset if he fire me before 2 years of service BECAUSE IT IS HIS RIGHT TO DO SO. My employer jeopardized my right by giving me illegal contract which is not accordingly to the UAE labor law. Instead of treating staff normal and human, giving benefits or raises, employers choose to use illegal ways to scare and keep their workers. My question still remains the same: is there any labor office where I can go and check my options?

I do not now if the can implement this, but if you signed it then I would think that you should honor it. Why should the company be out of pocket because you found something better? Hi, well I haven´t find anything better so far, but the problem is that I am the only person in that company that has that part in contract. Everybody else has only ONE year. So it makes me feel cheated. I am aware that I have signed it, and therefore it´s my responsibility, but anyway I wanted to hear if there is a way to go without paying.
