Thank you. I am not looking for a savings account but for a normal current bank account. I will check out the website that you shared as it looks really informative - Thanks a lot.

Hello, Try Fibber Maggees. A friend used them recently for an at-home party and it was lovely. Food was great, service perfect. This was a cooked lunch but they do BBQ as well. Type Fibbers Dubai in Google to find them. Another option is potentially Shakespeare. Checked their catering service out before Christmas for a party and the food looked yummy too. Can't remember if they did BBQ though. Look for Shakespeare and co in Google.

Brillant! See I never checked in any of those shops! Thank you so much for all the answers, that's a life saver (at least a bags and shoes saver)!

Hello forum users, I have been looking in all supermarkets for a waterproof/sealant protector spray for my leather and suede bags and shoes. Supermarkets and shoe stores is where I find this in my home country. This is great against stains or any type of accidents, and it seems impossible to find in Dubai..any clues? I may be missing a very obvious place so if you know where to go I would appreciate if you can share.

Ditto agree with Carambar. Was in Victoria Secrets in MOE last week and the staff (not the sales staff) the ladies who are in the changing room were really good to recommend the right size and different shapes of bras that would suit.

Thank you both for the reply. DH ended up talking with brother of the bride, whom he know well and looks like gifts were not expected. There are so many cultures in Dubai, it's always a guess to know what's wrong and what's right!

Hi there, Did you look at airbnb for your accomodation? Try heelsanddeals.org and bni-me.com for the networking. Have not tried them but heard they are good organizations. Best

Layan is nice. It is far out but you can pretty much get anywhere in Dubai within 30 mins from Layan.I can do Mall of Emirates the back way in 20 mins, ditto 20 mins to Dubai Mall ad not much more than 20 mins to DESS in Oud Metha. You do drive a lot of km's if you live in Layan but generally on fast roads. You can do DESC in 15 mins plus there is a bus service if needed to DESC. I'm not sure whether there is a bus service to Dubai College and it's prob 30 mins at peak times.( 20 mins at non peak times). The only issue with Layan if you have older kids is that its not always easy to get taxis to collect from Layan. They will bring you back no problem but to access Layan from most of Dubai you have to do a loop which I think is close to ten km. it's not a problem and literally takes 6 mins but taxis don't partic like coming out here although I believe the situation is getting better. Actually just back in the forum after moving here. Very good advice. Actually Feefmick replied to my similar query back in May/June! We moved to Layan 4 weeks ago, DD and DS are in Lycee Francais opposite DESC. 15 min drive...but now they take the bus. As not many children here are schooled there, the bus goes to Ranches after and it takes them 1 hour in the morning. On the way back they are the first to be dropped off though. Motor City shopping and cafes, and Arabian ranches community center which has a HSBC branch, a clinic, a Geant supermarket are closeby (driving). As is written in this thread, the closest residential area to Academic City is Silicon Oasis which is lovely. On the other hand, I agree that with older teens being closer to the malls and tube will certainly be a plus..Dubai is all about driving everywhere in most cases! edited by worldcitizen on 05/10/2013 edited by worldcitizen on 05/10/2013

Hello, Started an answer...but realized you want disposable....if you cannot find them and are ready to $$$ Just saw a whole bunch of the latest G** P*** cameras (not sure I can name the brand) in a skate and surf shop opposite Carrefour in Mall of Emirates last Saturday. Shop is called Rage. I know my diving, snowboarding friends love these cameras. Happy diving or snorkling! edited by worldcitizen on 05/10/2013

Oh Layan sounds good. I never heard of this community before today. Totally have to investigate it. Have to send the hubby then because am back in France... My comment about Reemram is that the living room is small, 15 to 18 square meters, not great for 2 pre teens who tend to spread out on sofas..... By the way, another question if you can help: We realized that agents and landlords want to sign rent agreements really quickly not 1 or 2 months in advance...how does that work? DH has 1 month notice for his existing flat and agents say that they cannot ask landlords about a 1st of july move...normal or selling technique? edited by worldcitizen on 14/05/2013

Thank you very much. Looking for appartments cause its more reasonnable than a villa or townhouse for starters. But when I find a job then we can go crazy! we have been driving around for 2 days. We ve seen various places from Palm, JBR, Al Furjhan, Dubai Investment Park, Ranches, Motor City, Reem Ram, have not found DSO apparts yet just saw Cèdres Villas from the outside...ultimately we realized that landlords want to sign asap, so we will look again in August just before moving in.... Such a helpful community...ta!
