I've found laser treatment is probably the best and longest-lasting and the hair grows back very fine (until one day it just stops growing back!).. Have you done laser here and if so, can you please recommend a place? I am struggling with post wax pimples and need to get laser. TIA

Agggghhh!!! What am I doing wrong? I have followed the attack to the letter all week....I have exercised every day - TWICE a day (gym for an hour 40 mins cardio then 20 min weights plus a 20min jog in the evening) and I remain the SAME eight!!! I have only 8 weeks to go to lose at least 3kgs and am SO upset.....I have eggs in the morning (boiled) chicken for lunch (grilled) and salmon in the evening. I have had a few zero fat yoghurts with a drop of vanilla essence (please tell me THAT cant have wrecked it), green tea, coffee with skimmed milk and that's it!! Help! Please!! Really fed up :-( I think you're not eating enough and exercising too much. I found the same thing at first - where the protein filled me up so I only ate a little and generally run daily and didn't lose anything! I have also registered for the online dukan diet so I sent them an email and they responded saying to eat 5 small meals since my quantity was so low and to only do 30 minutes walking a day. I also drank about 3 litres day b/c of the cardio - I kicked that back to only 1.5 (which is tough for me) as they said it also likely related to water retention and within 2 days, the weightloss started! I now have 1 kg to go to my "true weight" to achieve a BMI of 22 and its taken almost a month. I now walk about 45-50 minutes. edited by xmasbaby on 15/05/2011

Thats how I feel - cross with dh so when I hear stuff from new sil re: old sil, it get angrier at dh too. I know if he told her in no uncertain terms, that she needs to make an effort, she would but he always just says, " you too need to work it out" and he claims that he's spoken to her "in his own way"...She has made more effort over the years, from being mean to cordial but its just not good enough. i'm still hurt.

I guess she sees you as someone stronger than she which she maybe doesn't like. It sounds like she sees the new SIL as maybe not as strong and someone she can manipulate/control/walk over. There is a compliment up there ^^, honestly :) No help, I'm sorry, but I am a little cross at your DH for not putting his sister in her place where you're concerned.

I just need to vent! DH and I have been married almost 10 years. My sil has never really liked me. She was extrememly close to dh and I think she resents our relationship. She's been mean to me over the years mostly when we first got married and I suppose now she's cordial. My dh has spoken to her many times but she's much older than him and he's concious of being respectful and not offending her. She's also unmarried and quite needy. She calls him 3-4x a day even now that we live in another country and his parents often call us to remind us that she is alone and needs our emotional support. Dh feels sorry for her and therefore won't take a firm stance. Dh's brother is getting married and he's the complete opposite. He doesn't put up with her poor me whining and basically tells it as it is. She always makes huge efforts with his girlfriends as to develop relationships with them, knowing thats the way to her brothers heart. Now he's getting married and it just hurts so much, how much of an effort that she's making with the new sister-in-law to be. I know I should just get over with it - dh said, she wouldn't have liked any women he married so just dont take it personally - but everytime I hear about them doing anything together or hanging out, it really makes me sad. I've made so much effort over the years and get a long with even the most difficult people so it just really upsets me. I feel so gutted and don't know how to get over it - stupid I know but its eating away at me.

sounds like you have my inlaws! hang in there and just tell them to butt out. Your bil should mind his own business and the next time he offers unsolicited advice, let him know that. As for Dh's sister, just lay it out, the next time she makes a snide remark. I used to get all worked up but not say anything and you know what I realised, it was me who was suffering as I would brood and brood. DH didn't see the impact and so he didn't do anything about it. Finally I exploded one day and from that point, life's been manageable b/c I simply don't care. Now they make the effort and watch their p's and q's. Better them uncomfortable then me! lol

Also bear in mind, Oakville is 40 minutes from Toronto, Burlington even further via the major highways. You'll probably want services in those areas. I grew up in Oakville and then moved to Toronto when I got married for several years. Once you know where you'll be, I'll have lots of suggestions for hair/nails/doctors/dentists etc. Good luck!

I would be interested to know the statistics of these Canadianese ladies at the consulate who have spent more than 10 consecutive years (at any time) in Canada. Let alone plan to live out their golden years in Canada. I work with a man who spent a grand total of 3 years in Canada, now has a Canadian passport (and considers himself to be a Canadian as a result) and has no intention of returning to Canada. Sorry, gets up my nose. Yes, I live abroad, Yes I spent 25 years contributing to the Canadian government coffers for better or worse from the time I started working until I came here.. And yes, when I leave here I'll be going back to Canadaand taking up where I left off. I get no benefits from the Canadian government while I live abroad nor do I expect any. Let any political upheaval take place here (heaven forbid) I have plans to get myself out. My Canadianese colleague will be at the front of the line at the Canadian Embassy waving his 3 year old passport around (while having his retirement home in his original country of origin- he has absolutely no intention of ever living in Canada ever again ) to get on the first plane/boat out. edited by marycatherine on 05/05/2011 That gets my blood boiling too! Like you I worked and paid taxes for over 20 years before coming here and have met some many so called "canadians" who have spent the 2 year residency period and then left! They have no intention of going there, and just wanted the passport - I hate that Canada is so lenient in that regard. People just take the pxxx Being Canadian isn't just about a passport, its an identity.

I kept my drivers license active but its not expiring for alittle while yet. I didn't keep my health card active but my brother renewed his and just had it sent to my parents house. We drive when we go back so I didn['t want any issues and we're still listed on our family cars for insurance purposes.

Ahhh, I just contacted another Canadian consulate to get clarity and b/c my dd has dual British nationality via me, she is not stranded in that she can enter Canada without a visa and therefore, they won't issue the passport temporarily! If only she said that instead of arguing about whether we were in fact Canadian!

we've always used union movers and they are really good. We are moving next week, called them for a quote and they quoted 2500 more than last year! The bargaining starts... I've heard e-movers and 1800 storage also do it (same services). the nice thing with these moves is - its all done in one day but for washing all the stuff they touch...

Hi Sunglow, I am in a similar position , currently 65 and wanting to be about 59kg. I seem to have spent the last year loosing a couple of kilos and then putting them back on so for the first time ever I have started a "diet". I have slowed down but generally I have always eaten really healthily and exercised so this weight gain has been a creep which seems impossible to get rid of!! Also approaching the menopause and really don't want any extra fat now. In desperation I have just completed the attack phase of Dukan (6 days) and lost about 1.5kgs - not as much as I had hoped but I am keeping an open mind. I would pretty much have lost that in a week of calorie counting but so hard to do. I like this diet because it is so arbitrary - there are very few things you can eat and no room for error. Let see how I get on in this next phase! I ma traveling soon so really want to get established before I hit the road. Good luck I think the less you have to lose the harder it takes. I dont know your sizes but both weights dont' seem terribly high and therefore, your body would seemingly struggle to get rid of those pounds. To give you an idea, I am now 62kg with 60 being my goal and its taken me 3 weeks just to lose the last 500 grams. I would think the next 2 kg will take a month just b/c its the bottom of my healthy range, if you know what i mean. However, when I was 70kg, the weight came off faster as I was overweight.

Cheese and crackers with hommus and some tuna. Buy the flavored, soft tortillas such as sundried tomato flavored ones in the "Mexican" food section at spinnys and spread some cream cheese on it and roll it up. I make a large batch of banana pancakes and put them in the freezer, they are great to thaw and throw into lunch bags. You can spread nutella or peanut butter on them too. Be wary of peanut butter as some schools don't allow any form of peanuts to be allowed due to some children having peanut allergies.

We have a thermas and put risotto, pasta, pasta salad, tuna salad, chicken and rice etc xmasbaby , can you please share the brand name of the thermos and if it is available in dubai . my DD brings back her lunch as it turns cold till break time. thanks Ours is a hello kitty one - got it at Ibn Battuta in the hello kitty store. We also saw it at the one in Dubai Mall. We also got from Walmart in the states, a thermas drink holder which keeps the drinks cool. Sorry edited to add - the trick is to put some boiling water in the thermas and swoosh it around so that the metal part warms up and then empty it, dry it off and then add the warm food. edited by xmasbaby on 02/05/2011

I doubt the US embassy will stamp any random document you bring with you. We went through the whole attestation process before we came out here and not only was it cumbersome it was also revealing how official it is. Namely someone higher up isn't going to attest/certify a document that hasn't already been attested down the chain. This is how it works: 1. The local notary in the county where the document was generated notarizes the document. 2. An official at the county state government office then notarizes the document, essentally "certifying" the local notary's notarization, this takes the form of a seal. 3. The state then notarizes the document, certifying the seal of the county notary. 4. The US Department of State notarizes the document, certifying the state seal. This is actually a very strict process. Because of legal reasons the US consulate in Dubai isn't just going to "stamp" any papers you bring with you. This is what I had to do. I am a non-US citizen but obtained a degree in the US.

I do this too and they smarten really quickly

Mine has been through this - try boiled eggs, crabsticks, tiny pots of humous and Arabic bread. Mine don't think stuff in Arabic bread is a sandwich... Worth a pop. Couscous works sometimes. I think they just get bored with the same old stuff on a daily basis. My mum used to give me cheese andpickle sarnies all the time and as soon as I was old enough I'd sneak out of school and buy chips or something equally unhealthy. OMG, my mum used to give me the same and I used to switch with my friends, or when old enough sneak off to buy junk food!
