I wish I felt comfortable enough to do this. He's a very alert baby, his naps are very short and he sleeps lightly, unfortunately that doesn't give me time to do almost anything. And he's not a laid back baby that will just lie in the cot, he demands constant attention and can scream his lungs out if he doesn't have it. I just wanted to have the luxury of showering or cooking without having to let him cry like a maniac, because that's the likely outcome..

I was at my home country for the first part of my pregnancy so dr Jennifer was my dr for the third trimester. A friend was with the swedish dr (don't remember her name) and she was happy as well. I had a low risk pregnancy and an easy birth so no bad experiences. City hospital was more than great, I would definitely go there for my second. They don't have a nursery so you have your baby in your room (single room). All nurses were great and came within a couple of minutes after I buzzed them. Lots of help with breastfeeding and they have 2 lactation consultants, you can contact them for anything you might want to ask while breastfeeding, I mean after you have left hospital. And they give a complimentary diaper bag with freebies! Ask me anything else you might want.

Thank you all so much for your replies and for sharing your personal stories. Tessa, what a story and, wow, 6 children?? I admire you! Just got back from the dr, there's nothing physical like ear infection, reflux etc. As I suspected it's due to development, their brain grows and their perception of the world changes as well, keeping them awake. It can last up to weeks and apparently alert babies are affected more. So we should be patient. Patience is a virtue!

Hi tcb, I see it's an old post and I don't know if you have finally found a doctor. Just wanted to inforn you about dr. Waseem at Northwest clinic. He's a Pediatrician with a specialty at gastroenterology. I took my baby because I suspected reflux and, as you also mention, he treated the cause and not the symptoms. There is also an another doctor at city mall clinic but I don't remember his name or have any personal experience. Although I do hope that by now your little girl is better.

Panda, 13k is for normal delivery no epidural with hospital doctor. I delivered there few months ago, I'll find the rates and msg you. Maybe 35k was for cesarean plus all dr appointments. Will you choose hospital dr or from an outside clinic?

Tessa thank you very much for your lengthy reply. I appreciate your effort and the time you dedicated writing it. I should have written a bit about him, he's far from a textbook baby. Up to a week ago he was waking up every 2.5-3hrs to bf, I did consider myself lucky with 3hrs of unbroken sleep. Naps are another thing, very difficult to help him fall asleep and naps for 30' tops. He's grumpy most of the day cause he catnaps the whole time. He's a very alert and high energy baby. Not cuddly, I cannot hold him and sit down, never, he kicks and screams. He's only happy when I hold him standing, even better if I walk, as he loves to look around even when tired and sleepy. He usually screams when I put him in the baby carrier and pushes me. My back hurts from carrying him, I cannot continue this for long. He has recently started waking up more often, every hour. Sometimes I can sush him back to sleep, sometimes not, he cries and screams and stops only when bf, even if he had eaten very recently and too much. He wakes up early in the morning and doesn't sleep again, last night he slept only 6hrs. He continues the day being very tired, he feels sleepy every 1-1.5hr and as his naps have gotten shorter 20' he wakes up tired but unable to fall back to sleep. I have read books, blogs to lengthen naps, nothing works. He doesn't sleep well while out in the stroller, doesn't sleep after bf, doesn't sleep in the baby carrier, doesn't take pacifier, white noise does nothing. As I said he only accepts to be carried around, it might take 1hr so that he'll sleep for 30'. Sometimes he cries because he's tired and I cannot calm him at all. As I said he was never a good sleeper but now it's out of control. I don't think it's great expectation to want a rested baby. It looks like we entered earlier the 4th month sleep regression. Plus lots of developmental leaps ahead of us. I just want to have some professional advice to help him sleep better. I don't have unrealistic expectations, some slight improvement would be great. I would be grateful if someone has a good Pediatrician to recommend.
